KO is on in about 2 minutes… hope someone is around later if I can make it back then… if not, hope everyone has a good night and a better tomorrow! (that means you, Olivia).
Nice pics in previous lounge NDD… we have rain moving in too, so it should be an interesting night.
Been really busy today…then got caught in an Orange place diary. Needed to drop by and post a kitten pic before I go home and rejoin the fray.
Going home…and drinking scotch…hmmm…let’s see if I can get some more troll ratings over there! Woo Hoo…I even agreed with Armando throughout the comments. Damn…make that drink a double!
sidetracked, and come back and find everyone in bed.
Crinoids are rather widespread
An abundance of (stemmed) crinoids occurs in the rocks of the Silurian period in the United Kingdom and the eastern United States, the Devonian period of Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, New York state and the Eifel region of Germany, the Carboniferous period of the United Kingdom, Belgium and Russia, the Mississippian period of Iowa and Indiana, the Pennsylvanian period of the mid-continental United States, the Permian period of the island of Timor, and the Triassic period of Germany. They are the state fossil of Missouri. [emphasis mine-NDD]
I suppose one could create that backyard out of any home… but it’s good to have a picture and idea of what we like, right? I do like the house in the other thread. Don’t need a big backyard. Oregon is our backyard. 🙂
and try antihistamines. IIRC, the itching is akin to an allergic reaction, and the antihistamine helps suppress it. It used to work for me with poison ivy (somewhat at least–nothing really helps completely).
I’ve been thinking about you, tooooooo! Maybe once we get settled and I know what our finances are or are not, we can fly your Indy butt out here for a few days or something(?)
I love reference resources. I’m such a big geek, I was always that kid who volunteered to work in the library at school.
I’m exhausted, spent, sore, tired, frazzled, stressed, hungry and too damn tired to cook. I was salivating much like I imagine George might when you described dinner in that last thread. 🙂
How you holding up around your place with the soggy and the family?
I doing pretty good. It’s getting back to normal, thanks for asking.
Now, don’t you go and over do it. Can’t let anything happen to our Indy. Seriously – Slack When Possible.
BTW – George doesn’t sit and salivate. He whines and whines when I’m eating in the room. I have to put him in the hallway and close the door sometimes. I can still hear him out there, but not as loud.
Sounds like good advice, Family Man. I think I’m gonna take something from the freezer to the microwave and watch some dumb TV. See y’all later, {{{Cafe}}}.
Been there done that. I was going through clothes to give to goodwill before moving. Or it could have come from the woodpile. This is just a flare up from initial experience. Because most of my stuff is in storage.
Thanks James, yup nothing really helps. I do like taking showers today though 🙂 But that relief lasts only for about 30 mins. If you end the shower with a bit of cold water, it’s nice, too.
I have something that helps me sleep and not scratch at night and typically mellows me out a bit so as I don’t focus on it. Mother Nature 101. But can only do that when I know I don’t need to drive anywhere.
Doctor wants to check my hearing and possible vertigo. That this may not be flu stuff.. but my ears messing with me. It’s nice having a doctor and one who cares. Went uninsured for a long time. And… he loves CodePink 🙂
When I first got this back in November – I was able to go to our old doctor for an exam and the steroids. Were able to use the coverage of new job.. anyways. The nurse practitioner said she had it once due to her now ex-husband because he was a hunter and got it on his penis, came home all randy and they both came down with it together. I’m not sure if that is the reason she divorced him LOL. She wasnt’allergic though but needed the shots of steriods of course…
I am terminally allergic to poison ivy and alcohol has been the best treatment for preventing an outbreak I’ve found. Unfortunately it is an external treatment.
If you’ve been exposed to poison ivy, oak or sumac, if possible, stay outdoors until you complete the first two steps:
First, Epstein says, cleanse exposed skin with generous amounts of isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. (Don’t return to the woods or yard the same day. Alcohol removes your skin’s protection along with the urushiol and any new contact will cause the urushiol to penetrate twice as fast.)
Second, wash skin with water. (Water temperature does not matter; if you’re outside, it’s likely only cold water will be available.)
Third, take a regular shower with soap and warm water. Do not use soap before this point because “soap will tend to pick up some of the urushiol from the surface of the skin and move it around,” says Epstein.
Clothes, shoes, tools, and anything else that may have been in contact with the urushiol should be wiped off with alcohol and water. Be sure to wear gloves or otherwise cover your hands while doing this and then discard the hand covering.
The dogs don’t seem to share it with me. I can pick it up off of firewood, tools, and even smoke from burning poison ivy. It I think I’ve been exposed I wash off with alcohol and have avoided major outbreaks for several years.
Of course allergic reactions to poison ivy vary over time. My dad was as allergic as me as a child but grew less allergic from his 40s on. My mom was not allergic until her 40s, and then she developed a serious reaction to it. I just keep washing off with alcohol and assuming I am still allergic.
Sorry to butt in but, if you haven’t already, I’m asking you folks to read Gill for Congress in recent diaries tonight. An article about No Child Left Behind that I think is spot on.
Just a frequent lurker here, and a too frequent commenter. I must admit I have no Idea how to provide a link. It is in recent diaries on the front page. “Lets stop destroying our public education”
Sorry that’s the best this techno challenged guy can do.
Our cherry tree burst into blossom a few days ago, and you guys have infected me with the picture-taking bug, so I thought I’d share. Don’t look directly at it, you’ll hurt your eyes.
I’ll give it a try. It doesn’t look like it, but that’s a really tall tree. I just got this digital camera at Christmas and haven’t tried the zoom yet, but this will spur me on perhaps. I did try a couple of close-ups of the tulips, inspired by Olivia, but they don’t look like hers at all.
I’ve found that when I try to use my zoom if I don’t have a tripod it’s not to clear. Of course it depends on your camera. I’m sure Jim and Olivia know a lot more about it.
Grab a chair and order a drink. No minimum – on drinks that is.
Where is everybody. Do I need a bullhorn!
🙂
I was just catching up — reading an earlier cafe about bonobos. 🙂
Me, too! I was just reading about Manito’s fear of itty bitty spiders. Made me love him even more so 🙂
For a multitude of reasons, right DJ! That particular one being the cherry on top! 🙂
The reasons are limitless. Like many of the wonderful funderful men here.
are really into mud wrestling.
I’m not even going near that one.
Actually mud wrestling seems quite tame in comparison!
why is it that I can’t come into a cafe without mud wrestling being brought up.
uh and hey everybody
How’s it going CBS?
Did I hear something about MUD?
I was crawling around in the dirt on my knees earlier tonight FM — and I was thinking of you! 🙂 Got some good pix too LOL.
I can’t wait to see the new pixs.
Crawling around in the dirt huh. Be still my heart. 🙂

Hope your night and day are better too IVG.

I just thought that I’d put up one of my newer Bryce experiments. The flower photos kind of inspired me and thought that this would be kinda nice.
That is so cool. For having the program for such a short time, I don’t know, I can only think that is so cool.
Damn good job CBS.
thanks! i’ve done some romantic type scenes and such, but they’re not very polished yet
Have you tried to do any animation yet?
I had a lot of fun with that.

Hope the Fs are still up????
we aren’t paleontologists and we don’t know anything about ND geology.
… but I like how you’ve put the penny there for scale!
sidetracked, and come back and find everyone in bed.

Did you find these fossils around your place? Quite colourful when alive — feathery things. You learn something knew every day in the cafe — crinoids.
of a the field just east of the homestead, after a heavy rain cause much erosion.
gotta take a break, back later.
Geez I thought everybody knew that.
NDD I just wanted to see who else knew.
I just got back. I finished putting dinner on the table and told them to have at it.
And more important: aren’t you eating any of it?
I ate fairly big this morning. Later on I’ll probably have some.
Enjoy.
I likey!!!
I think I could do some serious slacking there.
I suppose one could create that backyard out of any home… but it’s good to have a picture and idea of what we like, right? I do like the house in the other thread. Don’t need a big backyard. Oregon is our backyard. 🙂
Oregon is our backyard
How lucky can some people be. 🙂
Lucky is not the adjective I’d use for me today. I’ve been remembering that the other night I scratched my butt… alot.
It takes a while for this poison oak stuff to show up. I’m living in fear! LOL
Put socks on your hand and pour a quart of vinegar into a tub of water.
You won’t scratch yourself and you’ll pickel yourself at the same time. 🙂
That’s close to what I do for a sunburn. I spray it on though, I don’t bathe in it – wouldn’t want to pickle my uh.. my princess.
I understand completely.
and try antihistamines. IIRC, the itching is akin to an allergic reaction, and the antihistamine helps suppress it. It used to work for me with poison ivy (somewhat at least–nothing really helps completely).
Hi James 438. I agree with you, that would help some.
BTW, I still learning, what does IIRC mean? I haven’t figured that one out yet.
Like just about everything else, there’s a link for that. I love the internet, it’s almost as good as a pork-scented sauna full of bonobos.
I hope that everything is going okay w/ you — you’ve got such a lot on your plate right now! How are you holding up?
No worse for the wear, but the wear is wearin’ mighty thin right about now, thanks for askin’, hon. {{{LIV!}}}
But I’ve been thinking of you! {{{Indy}}} and :*
I’ve been thinking about you, tooooooo! Maybe once we get settled and I know what our finances are or are not, we can fly your Indy butt out here for a few days or something(?)
I don’t fly, but you’re welcome to come visit me in Ohio. Okay, I gotta go eat. Love you guys.
Thanks Indy. I just bookmarked it.
How ya doing?
I love reference resources. I’m such a big geek, I was always that kid who volunteered to work in the library at school.

I think I’ve spoiled his a little. 🙂
If George was mean, he’d leave some George “apples” in the hallway. 🙂
He’s smarter than that. He knows who feeds him and takes him out and bathes him.
That last one was wrong. That’s a definite apple maker. 🙂
ROFLMGEORGEO Him’s such a cutie. 🙂
Sounds like good advice, Family Man. I think I’m gonna take something from the freezer to the microwave and watch some dumb TV. See y’all later, {{{Cafe}}}.
IIRC = “if I remember correctly”
and if it is poison oak, wash all of the clothes you were wearing about 3 times to prevent re-infection.
Thanks.

I met a guy once who’d used poison ivy for toilet paper, while out camping. He claimed he lay nakid and spread eagle on the floor for weeks.
That’d be the classic “unhappy camper,” eh?
So… it could be worse, ya know!!!
I was going to try and think of something funny to say about that, but that ain’t funny. Ouch!
OUCH!
Did she ask him was he doing rubbing plants on his penis?
Natural male birth control, maybe?
the mysteries of the male mind… 🙂
She says that he was peeing on some bushes.. I have no idea. Just that she didn’t think fondly of him LOL
that certainly wouldn’t help any…
BTW, the Sens are going to win 5-1 (there’s 43 seconds left in the third).
I know 🙂 But I’ve learned not to divulge scores just in case that person wasnt able to see the game and thus taping it or something 🙂
Damn that Jagr! otherwise it would have been a shut out 🙂
GO SENS!
… down there … LOL. Did you watch the game or was it online?
Darling, the only reason I have cable tv is so I can get Center Ice aka Centre Iceand & hockey packages 🙂
NOt that I cared 🙂 I’m used to chatting in a hockey chatroom. LOL And my friend just divulged a score there ROFL 🙂
I am terminally allergic to poison ivy and alcohol has been the best treatment for preventing an outbreak I’ve found. Unfortunately it is an external treatment.
From the FDA
Is there a lot of poison oak and p.ivy around? And do the dogs brush up against it and then pass it on? (That’s what I found growing up in the woods…)
The dogs don’t seem to share it with me. I can pick it up off of firewood, tools, and even smoke from burning poison ivy. It I think I’ve been exposed I wash off with alcohol and have avoided major outbreaks for several years.

That is such nasty stuff.
Honestly, Jim’s not all that bad.
Thanks Jim!!! Problem is I didn’t know. Most don’t untill it’s too late.
Sink the healthcarepirates
Make em walk the plank!
I really have no idea where are “news” is. They should be impeached too. Well, you know what I mean.
Sorry to butt in but, if you haven’t already, I’m asking you folks to read Gill for Congress in recent diaries tonight. An article about No Child Left Behind that I think is spot on.
keepinon there’s no such thing as butting in, in the cafe.
It has to be in front of me, but could you provide a link ?
Just a frequent lurker here, and a too frequent commenter. I must admit I have no Idea how to provide a link. It is in recent diaries on the front page. “Lets stop destroying our public education”
Sorry that’s the best this techno challenged guy can do.
Well I need to eat, clean the kitchen and then I’m going to bed.
Everybody have a good night in the cafe.
I’m tossing some frozen lasagne in the oven and jumping BACK into the shower.. again.
See you tomorrow!
WhOOTT SENS and
Whooot Joe Thornton and Jonathan Cheechoo!!!!
Goodnight Beautiful Soul!
is over. Gilmore Girls and then Veronica Mars. I’m in witty repartee overload.
Anybody still here?
FM, DJ and Indy went off to eat. NDD stepped out for a bit. dada did a drive-by, and might be around (hi dada!).
How were the shows?
It’s the end of the season so things are really jumping.
What about Rory and Luke? Anything yet?
that ain’t never gonna happen.
I’m going to watch those, but we have baseball on the VM channel, so I’m not sure it’s going to show.
How are things going with you?
What the VM channel?
lol — the Veronica Mars channel. Sorry, I’m being lazy. But I’ll defintely be watch GG. 😉
I’m doing fine. How’re you?
Trying to cook and catch up here and there…looks like I was here just in time to say goodnight to a bunch of frog type persons…gotta go.
Back for the night shift later.
Peace

Hi Izzy. How’re ya doing?
Have you got a tripod?
lol – uh, no. No tripod. I’m definitely a point and click type, and I’m not real sure I have the pointing down.
I’ve found that when I try to use my zoom if I don’t have a tripod it’s not to clear. Of course it depends on your camera. I’m sure Jim and Olivia know a lot more about it.
that — nobody’s photos look like olivia’s. I just think of it as an unobtainable goal that keeps me striving.
I’d love to see them closer too! Isn’t it amazing how all of a sudden things just pop — I’ve noticed that today too.
I’ll go open one up for you night owls. Back in a few.
Open container law suspended so grab your drinks and come over here.
