I can start with the Tuesday cafes next week if yawl would be willing to add me back into the rotation. The only problem is that I’m at work all day so I can only pop in and out of the threads, but I’m more than happy to create them. Lemme know what you think
And your timing is perfect since I’m going to be out of town next week and will only be able to do the early morning cafes.
If you want, you can do the cafes as froggybottom and that way you don’t have to feel like you need host them. Or you could vary doing them as ‘you’ and froggybottom depending on how much time you want to spend.
I just have to wonder how BooMan feels about leaks out of his adminstration like this? I see a cross-section of the inner workings of the FBL being exposed here.
anxious for their lunch break so they can get a cheap lobster dinner in Cambodia? If so, they are either suffering from flashy-thingyitis or had the misfortune to catch a Bush Press Conference on tv with their breakfast.
I’m fine. I have too much to still teach in too few days and too much to grade.
Now on to more important stuff: When do you get your D70? What lens/lenses are you getting? You are prepared for a bit of a learning curve aren’t you? The best manual is a CDROM by Thom Hogan.
Not exactly sure — just sometime this week — w/e — or next week. I’m going w/ the (kit) lens and I’m still deciding on the alternate lens. The store that I’ve been going to has some lens combinations so I have to see what they say when I go in. And yes — I think that’s part of the reason I’m afraid to do it — I’m completely freaked out actually — b/c it will be stepping outside my comfort zone. Thanks for that link. I’m going to bookmark and read it!
No we’re getting dried out. It returning to normal, with the exception of AC.
We were called today by the AC man and he told us he expected the part in today, but it hadn’t arrived. He said it would be in first thing in the morning and we were first on the list. Yee Haw!
Look at that little guy! He’s adorable… Did you see him on your walk today?
Andi — it was a shit-y day. My wk computer lost my files over the w/e somehow so spent the morning w/ IT fixing that, then had a corporate memorial service for the colleague I mentioned last week — total sobfest, then worked through lunch b/c nothing got done b/c of aforementioned and then meetings all afternoon. I thought of your wonderful place today. In fact, I used it as my happy place (a la visual imagery) during the meetings. 🙂
to cheer you up. They’re from Saturday but I was saving them for you and then I forgot them yesterday. Sorry about the bad day. Hey — to cheer yourself up you can also think about your new camera!.
a wolf spider drop on my head one day while I was working at my desk. FSM knows how long it was clinging to the ceiling before it screamed “Bombs away!”
Needless to say, the spider was not the only one screaming that day.
is situated in an outer part of the metro area and is surrounded by desert and washes. We get all kinds of fun intruders. My all-time favorite was the centipede, tho.
Those are creepy. Worst one’s I’ve ever encountered were in Hawaii…about the width of your little finger and 6″ long…first one I saw I thought was a rubber gag critter, till it moved.
It’s the scorpions down in your area that spook me…they’re poisonous.
… in a place that had wolf spiders! Centipede! Was it big? Did it drop on you? You’re gonna give me nightmares thinking about where you’re working Manny!
that’s the same one that got my arm hairs to stand at attention. It was peeping out from a flower, waiting to pounce and suck the life out of its victim. Purty flower tho! (for the silver-lining folks amongst us)
Okay — that one did give me a scare b/c I was trying to get close to the flower and it darted out challenging me. But it was small! And it’s pink! It can’t be as scary as one w/ hair!
I’m only concerned with their ability to jump, dart and challenge. I can handle other bugs, even the scary 12 inch centipedes or the giant desert scorpions, but get me near a spider that could hypothetically jump in my face and I unabashedly scream like a girl.
(that was the creature I had in mind, thx for the relatively small viewing) [shudder]
around the garden and there are pink! things — hyacinths. And little buds on all the rose bushes and trees! Today must have sent the plants over the edge and now everything is popping up.
Howdy everyone… grueling day at work again today, and how in the world dada got that picture of me feeling frusrated and strung up, I’ll never know. Damn, he must be psychokinetic or something.
I hear ya there! My job has been kicking me around so much lately I’m not quite sure which end is up, ergo, why I related to dada’s pic so well. And today was so busy, overcast and gloomy that it sent my already fragile mood into definite negative territory.
At least I’m home now, having a beer and had a nice walk around the garden surveying the imminent tulip explosion, which is bound to make me rebound at some point this week! It won’t hurt when I have finished yet another boring report that I hate writing. I need a better job where I can put my writing skills to work in a setting that engages my mind, rather than numbing it down. <sigh>
At least I’ve got the cafe… when I make it in early enough … LOL.
The most important one I learned from experience… 🙂 Always, always save your template before you mess with it in note pad etc. That will save you a lot of heartache, and hopefully cut down on the frustration! (And don’t hesitate to send an sos if need be – I don’t mind.)
Yes, O Wise One! Got up earlyish, took in car for repairs, worked on diary-to-be, enterained friend while working on new beading project, started new crochet project, had late lunch with daily ration of chardonnay, and — as you see — lived to tell the tale! What did your slacker/napper par excellence day look like?
That would definitely cheer me up — but considering their play of late … well, let’s just say I should find alternate cheer-me-ups. I hope your good vibes make it from the west coast and give them the boost they need! {{{Cali}}}
Ain’t supposed to be anything serious just light rain. Any rain would be welcome as it’s very dusty walking around in the dirt left from last winter’s snow.
It’s making right now. Brioled pork chops, beef tips, browned then put into a dutch oven along with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans.
Stickly southern tonight.
I myself would have prefered a nice greek salad with plenty of feta and olives.
I don’t see how my Grandmother did it. It’s a comfortable 86F in the house right now and I’ve experienced new heights of heat prostration standing over the stove.
However, I’ve felt very smug. I was thinking of all those people who pay a gym to go to a sauna. Hell I got it free.
Glad you’re on the rainy edge of the wedge. Somewhere back to your left they are talking about 2 feet of snow. That would be depressing as Hell in April.
Speaking of snow out of season, here are the top 10 reasons not to live in Wyoming:
10. July is the only month Wyoming has not experienced a blizzard.
If you can stay up for a while tonight. I’m so down I may just turn the computer off and go to bed early … or take a nap, so I can work on my geezerhood lessons. 🙂
Wesley got 152% out of a possible 100% (91.0/60.0) for a grade of an A in PE. They think he should try out for high school track and field. This boy can RUN.
Okay so everyone is excited about my son’s running ability. So what do they do to him??
So why was he upset this whole frikken hour?? I had to do some detective work…
Turns out they gave him a “Get out of class free” card. “For exemplary effort, and beating your personal best “mile time” of the year, you are excused from one PE class. This pass can be used to miss an activity like a regular class, one-mile or fit day, or it can be used to make up an absence. Congratulations on your awesome achievement!!!”
This is like the kiss of death to an autistic child. Miss a class?? ACCKKKKK He thought he did something bad and didn’t want to show me the Get out of class card.
Andi I was just going to ask you if you wanted me to open up a new lounge.
Garsh! I always miss it by a few seconds. 🙂
or did you just decide you liked the sound of garsh? (Garsh, how about those bonobos!)
I like those bonobos. I want to be a bonobos saying garsh all day, along with the other things they do. 🙂
I can start with the Tuesday cafes next week if yawl would be willing to add me back into the rotation. The only problem is that I’m at work all day so I can only pop in and out of the threads, but I’m more than happy to create them. Lemme know what you think

And we want to celebrate your return!!
I’m celebrating too.
I just realized for the first time that they are sitting on mushrooms. It must’ve been the Mango Passion getting to me.
that this was toadstool
wireless internet “Shit ‘n Surf” around here. Not that I’d know.
I just have to wonder how BooMan feels about leaks out of his adminstration like this? I see a cross-section of the inner workings of the FBL being exposed here.
do me a favor and look right over here at my flashy-thing.
Someone must be flashy-thinging my students before school every day.
anxious for their lunch break so they can get a cheap lobster dinner in Cambodia? If so, they are either suffering from flashy-thingyitis or had the misfortune to catch a Bush Press Conference on tv with their breakfast.
Ah yes, the rare Benobo frogs.
How’re things?
I’m fine. I have too much to still teach in too few days and too much to grade.

anyone around?
you a spring peeper for your garden.
How were all your meetings?
Look at that little guy! He’s adorable… Did you see him on your walk today?

— they do instill cheer… Oh, to be a little froggie swimming happily in Andi’s woods. 🙂
since we also saw a little snake swimming happily not very far from the little frog. 😉
Snake, you had to mention snake. 🙁
olivia posts one of her creatures up-close-and-personal, I have to raise my personal terror alert by striking the red plate.
You’re funny. 🙂
a color on there that’s high enough for that one spider.
Oh Andi, spiders are nothing.
a wolf spider drop on my head one day while I was working at my desk. FSM knows how long it was clinging to the ceiling before it screamed “Bombs away!”
Needless to say, the spider was not the only one screaming that day.
In my first office one of the guy bought in an aquarium and set it up to put a black widow in it. He would catch flys & different things to feed it.
To cut a long story short. She had babies that got out. We had to have exterminators come into the office.
Why didn’t I think of this?
you like a strawberry?
[shudder]
my spiders are nothing compared to those mini-tarantulas. Wolf spiders have hair! Eeeewww — your head! Gross!

He’s not so bad… 🙂
he was an escapee from a 1950’s horror movie.
He was see-through! 🙂
The one that matched the flower he was on — the big one with the nasty-looking mandibles and the stripes.
that’s the same one that got my arm hairs to stand at attention. It was peeping out from a flower, waiting to pounce and suck the life out of its victim. Purty flower tho! (for the silver-lining folks amongst us)

Manito,
reading this just makes me love you even more 🙂
the love would be accompanied by a rubber creepy-crawler to be strategically placed in my path, right? 🙂
Gosh olivia sounds like you have your handsful! However, I think I saw the movie of this and it had a happy ending! LOL {{{olivia}}}
Hi Olivia.
I made some on those changes you suggested to the site.
Have a hard day of meetings?
I’m glad you made it through the novel. 😉 I’ll have to go check it out.
The meetings were the easiest part unfortunately. How was yours? I read up there that the a/c still on the to-do list…
Yes but that’s nothing compared to what your day sounded like.
You’re in the cafe now and there are more than enough huggers to say.
{{{{{{{{{{Olivia}}}}}}}}}}
{{{{{{{{{{FM}}}}}}}}}}}} Cafe therapy is good stuff.
I know. Now you know the drill. Slack time. 🙂
around the garden and there are pink! things — hyacinths. And little buds on all the rose bushes and trees! Today must have sent the plants over the edge and now everything is popping up.
except that you spelled coan/cohen/koan correctly.
Yes I have you and dada to thank for that. 😉
OTTAWA!!!!
((((OLIVIA))))) (said with same gusto as Ottawa)
Hope you’re feeling better sweetie! :*
is up in the air and somewhat ambivalent about happy hour
Hi yO…don’t stand too close…:{)
Howdy everyone… grueling day at work again today, and how in the world dada got that picture of me feeling frusrated and strung up, I’ll never know. Damn, he must be psychokinetic or something.
How y’all durrin?
I actually feel like dada’s donkey kicked me around — it was pretty rough.
Hang in there {{{olivia}}}
I hear ya there! My job has been kicking me around so much lately I’m not quite sure which end is up, ergo, why I related to dada’s pic so well. And today was so busy, overcast and gloomy that it sent my already fragile mood into definite negative territory.

Today any better than yesterday, or should the pic give us a clue…?
The crisis du jour seems to have passed <fingers crossed>
Hope your day/eve gets better.
Just being home is a good start.
Have you had a chance to do any more work on your photo projects/scanning?
{{{dada}}}
just messing a bit w/ the site template…had it doing ‘close’ to what I wanted and then lost it…mystery to me…frustrating.
Hopefully, back to scan’g this week…learning curve is steeper that I had envisaged.
did you check these guys out for pricing on the D70…don’t know @ import ?’s
BH Photo. I bought stuff from them for years and rec. them to a lot of people.
Appreciate all your help and links dada.
The most important one I learned from experience… 🙂 Always, always save your template before you mess with it in note pad etc. That will save you a lot of heartache, and hopefully cut down on the frustration! (And don’t hesitate to send an sos if need be – I don’t mind.)
I’m like IVG and don’t know where you get the pictures, but that one is great.
Gorgeous spring in Pacific Grove.
Hey MM. Have you followed the path of slackdom and done what you wanted to today?
Beautiful pic.
It’s getting back to normal. I figure by the end of the week I’ll be nearer to total slackdom that I have all week.
Uhmmmmmm naps.
Hurts to be kicked out of paradise! Hang in there, FM.
That sounds so fine (except for the car part); it makes me sleepy just reading it.
I’ll be back in a minute.
Everybody decided they’re hungry and I need to get dinner started.
See ya.
Sorry to hear about the rough day…hopefully the Senators will give us both a chance to cheer up this evening. 🙂 (Game on in about 15 minutes!)
Been a lazy day around here — but tomorrow setting a new goal to get busy early and often… 🙂
That would definitely cheer me up — but considering their play of late … well, let’s just say I should find alternate cheer-me-ups. I hope your good vibes make it from the west coast and give them the boost they need! {{{Cali}}}

Ain’t supposed to be anything serious just light rain. Any rain would be welcome as it’s very dusty walking around in the dirt left from last winter’s snow.
OK, OK, I’ll put some trees in the next one.
I love big sky pictures! It’s so hilly and tree-y here that I can’t see more than 50 yards in any direction. Wah. 🙁
Hey SN. What did you decide to cook tonight?
’cause I’m gittin’ hungry!!
Hey FM. I made a stir-fry with chicken, broccoli and red bell peppers. What did you have?
It’s making right now. Brioled pork chops, beef tips, browned then put into a dutch oven along with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans.
Stickly southern tonight.
I myself would have prefered a nice greek salad with plenty of feta and olives.

and in that kind of picture, I don’t mind there being no trees.
How about putting some lightning in the next one. 😉
but not enough for a photo, yet?
so if it hangs around you gonna find out what a macro shot of hail looks like?
too late, already melted, but I’ve got some macros of other weird stuff coming for the next FBL.
Can’t wait NDD!
I’ll do the next lounge right before gilmore girls starts.
Including hail! I took one of ice once — looked like a new world had been discovered! 🙂
this guy were still alive we’d make our own.
Glad you’re on the rainy edge of the wedge. Somewhere back to your left they are talking about 2 feet of snow. That would be depressing as Hell in April.

Actually that’s enough all by itself.

Nice picture NDD. Hope you get as much rain as you need and none of the bad stuff.
I see a turtle reading the morning funny papers… or is that penquine playing the accordion? Niiiice 🙂
as far as photo interpretation goes.
That’s beautiful — look at the clouds!

pssoible new home?? 🙂 And it’s cheaper than what our old house is.
I heard that the family came by our house and blessed it. That makes me so happy.
I like that they have eve troughs on the upper roof, and don’t just let the rain just fall off that one and down on the next.
Congrats. Janet. The new one look pretty dog gone good.
— very homey. Have you been inside yet?
Nope – just looking. I can write the MLS numbers (HA!!! I copy/paste them) and we have an agent. It’s not the neighborhood I want though.
Gotta go lookin soon though.
House looking is fun (well I haven’t done it since 1978 but it was fun then).
…with that front door and archway!
I think I’ll put up another cafe. This one is getting pretty full.
And I don’t want Andi to beat me around the head for being lazy.
If you can stay up for a while tonight. I’m so down I may just turn the computer off and go to bed early … or take a nap, so I can work on my geezerhood lessons. 🙂
