I can start with the Tuesday cafes next week if yawl would be willing to add me back into the rotation. The only problem is that I’m at work all day so I can only pop in and out of the threads, but I’m more than happy to create them. Lemme know what you think
And your timing is perfect since I’m going to be out of town next week and will only be able to do the early morning cafes.
If you want, you can do the cafes as froggybottom and that way you don’t have to feel like you need host them. Or you could vary doing them as ‘you’ and froggybottom depending on how much time you want to spend.

Now on to more important stuff: When do you get your D70? What lens/lenses are you getting? You are prepared for a bit of a learning curve aren’t you? The best manual is a CDROM by Thom Hogan.
Not exactly sure — just sometime this week — w/e — or next week. I’m going w/ the (kit) lens and I’m still deciding on the alternate lens. The store that I’ve been going to has some lens combinations so I have to see what they say when I go in. And yes — I think that’s part of the reason I’m afraid to do it — I’m completely freaked out actually — b/c it will be stepping outside my comfort zone. Thanks for that link. I’m going to bookmark and read it!

Andi — it was a shit-y day. My wk computer lost my files over the w/e somehow so spent the morning w/ IT fixing that, then had a corporate memorial service for the colleague I mentioned last week — total sobfest, then worked through lunch b/c nothing got done b/c of aforementioned and then meetings all afternoon. I thought of your wonderful place today. In fact, I used it as my happy place (a la visual imagery) during the meetings. 🙂

a wolf spider drop on my head one day while I was working at my desk. FSM knows how long it was clinging to the ceiling before it screamed “Bombs away!”
Needless to say, the spider was not the only one screaming that day.
In my first office one of the guy bought in an aquarium and set it up to put a black widow in it. He would catch flys & different things to feed it.
To cut a long story short. She had babies that got out. We had to have exterminators come into the office.
Why didn’t I think of this?

is situated in an outer part of the metro area and is surrounded by desert and washes. We get all kinds of fun intruders. My all-time favorite was the centipede, tho.

Those are creepy. Worst one’s I’ve ever encountered were in Hawaii…about the width of your little finger and 6″ long…first one I saw I thought was a rubber gag critter, till it moved.
It’s the scorpions down in your area that spook me…they’re poisonous.

that’s the same one that got my arm hairs to stand at attention. It was peeping out from a flower, waiting to pounce and suck the life out of its victim. Purty flower tho! (for the silver-lining folks amongst us)
Okay — that one did give me a scare b/c I was trying to get close to the flower and it darted out challenging me. But it was small! And it’s pink! It can’t be as scary as one w/ hair!
I’m only concerned with their ability to jump, dart and challenge. I can handle other bugs, even the scary 12 inch centipedes or the giant desert scorpions, but get me near a spider that could hypothetically jump in my face and I unabashedly scream like a girl.

I hear ya there! My job has been kicking me around so much lately I’m not quite sure which end is up, ergo, why I related to dada’s pic so well. And today was so busy, overcast and gloomy that it sent my already fragile mood into definite negative territory.
At least I’m home now, having a beer and had a nice walk around the garden surveying the imminent tulip explosion, which is bound to make me rebound at some point this week! It won’t hurt when I have finished yet another boring report that I hate writing. I need a better job where I can put my writing skills to work in a setting that engages my mind, rather than numbing it down. <sigh>
At least I’ve got the cafe… when I make it in early enough … LOL.

The most important one I learned from experience… 🙂 Always, always save your template before you mess with it in note pad etc. That will save you a lot of heartache, and hopefully cut down on the frustration! (And don’t hesitate to send an sos if need be – I don’t mind.)

It’s making right now. Brioled pork chops, beef tips, browned then put into a dutch oven along with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans.

I don’t see how my Grandmother did it. It’s a comfortable 86F in the house right now and I’ve experienced new heights of heat prostration standing over the stove.
However, I’ve felt very smug. I was thinking of all those people who pay a gym to go to a sauna. Hell I got it free.

So why was he upset this whole frikken hour?? I had to do some detective work…
Turns out they gave him a “Get out of class free” card. “For exemplary effort, and beating your personal best “mile time” of the year, you are excused from one PE class. This pass can be used to miss an activity like a regular class, one-mile or fit day, or it can be used to make up an absence. Congratulations on your awesome achievement!!!”
This is like the kiss of death to an autistic child. Miss a class?? ACCKKKKK He thought he did something bad and didn’t want to show me the Get out of class card.
But the yay is definitely louder the good from being a runner will last and last.
