Welcome back!
This week I will be continuing with the painting of the old nineteenth century Elephant Hotel in my town, Somers, New York. It is currently used to house the town government.
My photo of the structure is directly below.
Once again, I’m doing this particular painting for an exhibition of residents’ depictions of the hotel. This is being done in celebration of the Elephant Hotel being added to the National Register.
I left the painting last week as it is seen directly below.
Since then I’ve added colors appropriate to the large elements that will make up the painting. At this point they are more accrurately called fields of color. They various fields start to define the major elements. The painting is seen directly below. (I still need to fill in the hotel’s roof.)
Next week, I will continue to refine the scene and hopefully add some details. As always, I hope to see you then.
