      sunny, 56F, but no wind today, whoooppppeee!
      
      After waking up wondering what truck hit me I’ve decided to do something less strenuous than cutting firewood.
      
      So far, brunch and tea with a brother, inc political chat, now load of laundry which I will hang out on the line later whilst listening to the song birds, mourning dove being the most likely.
      
      Then probably I’ll pick up sticks so I’ll be ready to mow.
      
      olivia, any insights yet on the D70? Going for the macro lens?

        minus the muscle aches… 🙂 No insights yet — I did get a macro lens, and it’s been interesting… I told Puget4 that it’s going to either be the best thing I ever did or the death of me, at this point I can tell! LOL!
        
        I’ve got three pix [1] and [2] extreme close-ups, and [3] full flower. All taken w/ 105mm f/2.8 ens.
        
        And btw — all this time I’ve been calling it macro. In the DSLR world, macro means something entirely different. What I’m doing is photomacrography. (Which we may not want to get into in the photodiaries lol. 🙂

  Hey there Olivia… just sneeking a peek here at work before I tackle the next task…
  You have a hoya blooming now? That is so cool… ours is healthy and happy but doesn’t usually bloom until summer, where it spends time outdoors. Aren’t they unusual flowers? I never think of taking pics of our houseplants, but we don’t have that many now, with the work to do outside.. but the hoya is definitely one we photograph when it blooms!
  
  Cold, with rain mixed with snow here today, and frost predicted for tonight… nothing widespread or major, but still, am going to cover up certain plants that just got planted, as well as your favourite new addition. 🙂 Just in case…

    See my post here. I’ve got another non-close up shot of the cluster. It only bloomed w/ this one cluster this time — last time there were about 5 of them. The scent was so overpowering (dh says the thing stinks lol!) Yes — by all means you must protect the favorite! 😉

because you are so obviously gifted. I miss hanging out here as much as I used to but right now I have needed more family time lately. Seeing that things are beginning to shift in the powerlock that was once strangling the nation I have been tending things that I have been put off. As November approaches I can’t help but feel that I will need all of the internal spiritual balance that I can muster. I am so grateful for your success though. We need you Manny!

  I know what you mean about internal balance. That’s why I take the weekends off from blogging (writing new stuff, at least) It would be easy to stay on my laptop, but I force myself to get outside or go hang out with friends to remember that life is good and it’s worth fighting for when I get plugged back into the activism on Monday.     Yeah – I stay off the blogs pretty much on the weekends. Except for hockey picks and codepink emails… I gotta have down time.
    
    Not only is life good. But… one has to remember that there is life to take care of. I can’t wage peace if there’s no food in the cupboards or laundered underwear.
    
    And damnit… sex should not be postponed. Even during stressful times. In fact it should be a given that mates should make sure they continue touching…

      time listening to our own warm wind can often lead to this dividing smearing mentality. It’s so sad too when it crops up because lefties or liberals or progressives or who ever the heck we are are smarter than that damn it. Gray Matter + Heart/Soul = Real Solutions to Real Problems. I love ya girl and been lost many times but read your words and it fed me for that place and time.

BTW — since you last hosted the cafe has become infested with a bunch of deadbeats who NEVER recommend. Guess they want to keep the cafe as their own private club only for those in-the-know. It’s a constant struggle … reminding them all the time 🙂

To Olivia: Lovely photo of something from outer space that vaguely resembles an earth flower! LOL!

I just finished another job interview this morning at a private school, they would cram me into a windowless closet with two other people! Sounds like fun, ay? Plus the job doesn’t start until the end of the summer.

It’s great to be home except there is so much work to be done, it seems endless. Nice if I can stay “gainfully unemployed” until I can get everything back in order. Plus I got this threatening notice saying I failed to report for jury duty last March (never received a notice in March and anyway wasn’t even living in Los Angeles!) and if I don’t report IMMEDIATELY they will lock me in jail and throw away the key. Lovely prospect. Just when I thought I was going to have a little down time to get my shit together….

  I got the same thing in the mail up here for missing duty down in CA and I never got the initial summons. They were able to fix it and take me off their list.

    Thanks, DJ! Good advice, and will be counting on the posse for a back up just in case! I was wondering if the “sanctions with a threat” is a new tactic to get people to respond? Interesting that you never got the first summons either. I just went through an eight month stack of mail that has been piling up here since I left last September, and there was no summons that came in March. My son is very good at saving my mail, so I doubt that if it came it was misplaced.

        Second, yeah…that’s our collective favorite one. A bit pricey and we’ll have to juggle… but that’s the one we want alot. But there is a yard and that neighborhood is in a “green” area. Quiet, residential, golf area.
        
        I’ve been living too long next to pine trees that smash into homes to be worried about the lack of big trees. I’m done with em 🙂
        
        I like those Cherry Blossom trees around here so much better 🙂
        
        And there are lots of parks and trails in that area. Even dog parks.

    The pest inspection aka extortion… really cannonballed us … but fuck it. We have to move on and we can only fight so many battles – my husband is trying to knock the bill down a bit… but I just contacted our realtor here and I’m moving on..
    gotta get the house sold though it’s in escrow – they want it – we want them to have it.
