You go Ned! Move ’em on out.
I spent some time talking to Ned Lamont about a week and a half ago. He was in between fundraisers and came and spent about an hour at a rather hastily convened Oakland Drinking Liberally. What a great guy! He is confident, poised and unabashedly progressive, and he’s feeling pretty good about his chances. Apparently, Joe’s threat to run as an independent has had huge repercussions within the state Dem Party — I guess for some strange reason, they think that party loyalty should maybe be a two-way street.
One thing that was pretty funny, he was headed to LA for a fundraiser the next night at Norman Lear’s house, and he was going to meet Kos for the first time there. He sort of kept scratching his head and saying, “Geez, these blogs are just AMAZING! Every single time they write something about me on the front page of Daily Kos, my website gets an extra 1,000 hits. It’s incredible!”
According to the AP, organizers said 300,000 turned out, and the crowd stretched for 10 blocks marching down Broadway. Police did not release an estimate of the crowd size. Has anyone else heard any news about the protest?
My son in college is there today. 🙂
there are two photo diaries about it. One from ask and one from clammy.
Lonesome diary that needs some attention. We have a primary in Ohio this coming Tuesday, and Subodh Chandra is one of the Dem candidates for Attorney General. That is actually the only major race on the Dem side that is actually contested.

Right now on tv the idiots are yukking it up. How ashamed I am right now, that Bush`s media are having a nice big sitdown dinner & joking about how stupid Bush is while soldiers are dying, dead bodies are still buried in NO rubble & civilians are being tortured overseas. I`m not part of them, but I`m very ashamed.
OF course they’re yukking it up. Lots to celebrate.
Fox News just moved its offices into the White House, making it official.
Iraq now has a goivernment. Everything is ticket boo.
Like yor JB take.
At the WH correspondence dinner, the yukking included
At the Reuters’ party you could get a drink called The Cheney Shot–made with Wild Turkey
And Valerie Plame, when asked why she cametonight and what would she say if she met the president? Her reply,
I’m sorry, I’m wearing Armani”

I really hope Ned wins, not only because he would make a much better senator, but because Lieberman is so tone-deaf that if he wins, I’m afraid that he won’t say “Whew! close shave, I’d better listen more to my constituents”, but will instead believe, like Bush, that he had his “accountability moment”. And become much worse than he is now.

US wants it both ways – closed borders and cheap labour
I`m not ashamed of Steve Colbert. He shredded Bush hard.
