WASHINGTON (AP) April 27 — The only new issue in the CIA leak investigation known to involve Rove is a contact that his lawyer, Robert Luskin, had with Time magazine reporter Viveca Novak.
The contact is important because during it, the Time reporter told Luskin that Rove might have disclosed Plame’s CIA status in 2003 to another Time reporter, Matt Cooper.
The Luskin-Novak conversation occurred many months before Rove belatedly revealed to the prosecutor that he had spoken with Cooper. Rove says that he had forgotten about his conversation with Cooper. Rove’s legal problems stem from the fact that it was more than a year into the CIA leak investigation before he revealed the Cooper conversation.
One legal expert, Washington lawyer Stanley Brand, says that Rove’s latest grand jury appearance is an ominous sign for the White House aide rather than an indication that the investigation is coming to an end.
“I don’t think you need to drag a guy before a grand jury to wrap up,” said Brand. “Rove is testifying in an investigation in which a White House aide has already been indicted for lying.” Brand was general counsel to the House under Democratic Speaker Thomas “Tip” O’Neill Jr. from 1976 to 1983.

I told him I was trying to get a handle on the Valerie Plame leak investigation. “Well,” he said, “You’re sitting next to Karl Rove’s lawyer.” I was genuinely surprised, since Luskin’s liberal sympathies were no secret …

Sweden had been due to send six fighter jets to the Volcanex 2006 exercise in Italy as part of preparations for international peacekeeping operations.
Swedish Defence Minister Leni Bjoerklund said the scenario for the exercise in May, involving 10 European countries, had initially been international peacekeeping missions.

Not mentioning Israel by name, she said the armed forces were told at a late stage “that a state not belonging to the Partnership for Peace, and with which Sweden did not previously have bilateral military co-operation and which does not take part in international peacekeeping missions”, was to take part.
Sweden traditionally sticks to a policy of neutrality, but is involved in UN peacekeeping and Nato’s Partnership for Peace programme.
The Israeli press ran headlines of a “Swedish boycott” and the National Religious Party described the move as “anti-Semitic“.

Spend a few days elsewhere, but I did read and appreciate comments and diaries.
We started a campaign of sportmanship for teens and parents at the field hockey games for youth. Having officiated for some twenty years, we noticed a deterioration of fair play and more agression by younger players. In two months time, a difference can already be seen in the approach of sportmanship. Enjoy this task very much and notice it’s appreciated by youth and parents alike.

Newsweek editor Howard Fineman’s response was in the affirmative: “Right now, my sense, in reporting this, Chris, is that the Bush family, political family, is at war with itself inside the White House. My sense is, it’s Andy Card, the chief of staff, and his people against Karl Rove, the brain.
New Orleans (MSNBC) Sept. 26, 2005 — White House advance men, who brought their own generators as backups, lit the square with hundreds of rock-concert high-voltage lamps. They draped camouflage nets from the trees to shield the scene–the Cathedral of St. Louis and an equestrian statue of Andrew Jackson–from surrounding streets.
