May the 4’s be with you
Wow! I haven’t been here in a while.
Well, I guess that the place is empty, so I’ll shuffle on out. Cheers to you night owls.
Hope you had a lovely mother’s day.
Dang! I missed the party.
How was the dim sum?
It was great, but the company was better. Luckily we got there when they opened, it got packed.
Yeah but it’s even more better to have the good company while having good food.
Did you do family stuff today, too?
Happy Mother’s Day!
And did the Cabin Boys treat you to a nice M’Day?
They did. They cut the grass, drew pictures for me, and let me go hang out at the book and CD store by myself…so I got the Holmes Brothers and a James Hunter CD.
How was your day? Did the rain stop?
What kind of pictures did they draw?
The rain did stop. In fact, the sun actually came out for about a half-hour (I took pictures in case I needed documentation for future generations).
Oh, you know, visual odes to my awesome motherness… π
Sounds like the best kind of day. π
You could take pictures of the pictures and post them in a cafe and wow the rest of us.
Glad the sun came out for you. We had rain on and off in the afternoon/evening.
Anybody else see the end of Grey’s Anatomy? Whoops…
… it’s the season ender.
Actually, tomorrow night is the 2-hour finale, but this was pretty interesting too.
Why did you purposely not watch it?
It’s a bit crazy, but I missed quite a few episodes this season and so I want to wait for the DVD so I can watch them all, likely in one w/e. In order. So not watching the last ones will be a great surprise when I do finally see it. That’s what I did w/ last season. (Talk about delayed gratification.) And I’m watching P&P (colinfirth) right now, so I’m very entertained. π
Guess from what I know, that would be DJ! CG, MM, SN, TToni, and my favorite mama hen, Andi! If I missed anyone, salutations anyway and pardon for the slight! I hope you all had a great day doing whatever makes you happy.
Exhausted here from 7 straight hours of garden work with Chris out front, but we got an amazing amount of weeding and planting done today. The delphinium count is up to 15 now, with 6 more waiting to go in. Violas are nestled in their little corner of purple and yellow, and CA Poppy, Calendula and Convolvulus seeds have been sown. Many weeds have been vanquished and more to go yet. 3 full canisters of the shop vac have been emptied of maple spinners… and much more. All in all, a very productive, if tiring day!
Any of us late owls around? Choco Goddess Olivia? Grand Master Time Warp dada? NDDude? I’m here for a bit, but no more late nights like the last couple, hehe.
Busy day you had — I’d love to see you out there w/ the shop vac. (And 3 canisters! wow)
Yeah, and they’re 9 gallon canisters! I look like a loon, but I don’t care. Gets those suckers up in no time! How was your day? See you and dada were up real late.
Makes a ton of sense to me.
My day — not as productive as yours. Spent the day in Jane Austen movie-land … watched Emma and P&P.
dada and I basically went just after you. Did you see that I cheated on the movie quote? π Thought you’d get it for sure.
I’m with you on the going to bed early tonight — just watching the last bit of Edmonton/SJ game (about 10 minutes left).
Yes, I saw that about you cheating! lol… I’ve never seen that film, though know about it. I’m kind of lacking in 50’s American film, except for certain areas. But I can cite chapter and verse of French stuff of the period, lol.
… it really did predate my awareness LOL.
So guess how long the wake went on? The guy that was hosting it finally quit at 6:30am, and two new guys came on to relieve him and they lasted until noon. π
Oh lordy! You Canadians really are hardcore about your hockey. But they would probably think me a loon for being so obsessed with flowers and plants, but I like making things grow, so to each his own.
Everyone’s got something that turns their crank (as d would say), and hey — it makes the world a more exciting and interesting place. I rather enjoy your particular obsession. π I wanted to show you this … I took in last week (Monday I think). This is the view from my cube window …
Nice view! My 5th floor view from the cube is a parking lot and I can see the tops of some trees and sometimes clouds, but nothing that beautiful!
So what’s the final word on your last mystery plant? Do you think that it’s the one we found ?Lysimachia ciliata?
Yes, we looked it up in a couple of references and that’s definitely it! What a relief to know it’s not a real loosestrife! That last link you sent was the right one. So many thanks again for that detective work!
I’m not always a cheater … LOL. It had a certain look about it that sent me searching … the wildflower look if that makes sense.
This is the view from your ‘cube’ on a Monday?
No wonder you are so nice Olivia!
and nice to see you back! How’s it going out your way lately?
That’s funny.
How’s things? Been awhile since we’ve seen you.
Hi IVG and Olivia!
I am well, had a good mothers’ day with the family. My Moms’ garden is looking so nice today. The hummingbirds were buzzing around, and there was much good food and talk and the old family home.
Sounds like a nice day! No hummingbirds here yet that we’ve seen, but the stuff they like in our yard isn’t blooming yet.
My Mom’s place is in lower michigan, and her back yard is next to 120 acres of untouched woodland; very rare in livonia, just north of detroit. She is a long time birdwatcher, and has many feeders and flowers to attract the hummingbirds.
A nice easy-going kind of day.
And it’s chilly in the house again tonight, despite having had the windows open all day. Time for me to call it a night and get ready to try to face Monday again, <sigh>.
Btw, love your new tulip icon Olivia… And Alice, glad you had a great day… all the best to you, and any lurkers.
Good night, and hope your week’s beginning is as good as it can be! Ciao for now….
Good night IVG!
Sleep well IVG, aliceE (it as nice to see you!).
Have a good Monday morning!
You too, Olivia… see above comment, LOL. Guess last night has caught up with us… and no sign of dada… hehe. He and Bu are probably long fast asleep by now…
Catch you soon!
G’night IVG. I will hit the sack soon myself.
Dream of flowers.
G’night all, and thanx for the cool place to hang out in.
I don’t often post comments anywhere on the net, but I feel at home here.
Just got in a short time ago from the Sharks debacle — spouse and I stopped off for soup to soothe our scratchy throats.
Well, that pretty much sucked — special teams were so missing, they should be on a milk carton somewhere. We’ve got a lot of work to do this off-season…even if by some miracle we win the next two games and make it to the next round, I can’t see us getting by Anaheim and their tough goalie. We need an experienced defenseman, to do for our young defense what Joe Thornton did for the offense, mainly set a good example in work effort on and off the ice. And we need to learn how to actually drive the net and score goals on the power play. (Olivia will understand the “inside hockey” talk…)
Oh, and to all Canadians — I would personally like to apologize for the classless assholes who booed the Canadian Anthem. They’ve forgotten that several of our top players hail from the Great White North, and booing the anthem not only was an insult to them, it depicted all Sharks fans as rude, vile bastards. (I wrote a letter to the local newspaper, but I watched my language, it being a family newspaper and all…)
Okay, time to get some sleep…
