With the recent up rise in violence following the death of the two CBS journalists in yesterday’s attack, General George Casey has decided to move the remainder of a 3,500 troop brigade from Kuwait to Iraq.
This move flies in the face of constant promises from the Defence Department to steadily transfer control of major combat operations to the Iraqi military. I subscribe to the Ned Lamont/John Murtha philosophy that calls for the intimidate redeployment of troops to the outskirts of Iraq. If we don’t stand down the Iraqi’s will never step up and we’ll never get out.
Meanwhile, the extreme diversion of Iraq has resulted in further instability in Afghanistan where we are still looking for Osama Bin Laden (remember him?).
