If you are willing to go to court to get the rights to see your pet, then your pet is very important to you. You be the judge.
A Spanish court has ruled that dogs should not be treated like children with allocated visiting rights when it comes to divorce cases.
A Spanish man was originally given permission by his wife to visit Yako, a golden retriever, when they separated but he appealed to a lower court when she stopped him from seeing the dog. The court ruled in his favor and set up visiting hours.
But the provincial court of Barcelona then overturned that decision, saying it set a precedent for pets to be treated like children in divorce cases.
Because, this is frivolous Friday…that man had a poor lawyer if he let his wife get the dog.

It really bugs the hell out of me to read stuff like this–animals being treated better than people. And I am glad that court reversed the original decision. Why the hell even waste time with this?
Shoot. I know this is supposed to be a frivolous thread, but this isn’t the first time I’ve been in disagreement with Spaniards about dogs.
I own a retired racing greyhound. She’s my second. My first taught me how wonderful the breed is. In the U.S. the treatment of racing hounds isn’t great, but there have been attempts to rein in the abuses. In Spain, however, if a dog has a losing record it is hung. If it has been a real failure on the track, it may be hung with its hind feet on the ground so it dies more slowly and suffers more. In light of that, I can’t get too worked up about the custody issues.
I don’t know much about dogs but I did find this alarming article about Liz Cheney and her machinations at the State Dept. Pat Lang linked to it at his site., and also provided a succinct commentary of his own.
The article seems to argue against a point I’ve been pressing for quite a while; namely that there is a concerted effort on the part of some very serious players within government and the broader international arena to drive the neocons from power from within the government, and that that effort is succeeding. I’m still not convinced I’m wrong about that, but certainly this Cheney progeny and her nutcase associates need to be monitored closely.
