The RFK article has certainly rekindled the fire over it. I was a little perturbed about how dismissive Kos was in the weeks following the election, but the amount of progress about the electoral process that has been made since then has been shameful. I lay some of the blame on Kos and company for not allowing the largest liberal blog to act as a bulwark to getting meaningful reform on the move.
Here’s an email I sent to members of my book group this am:
Last week on our ride home from Bonnie’s house, Edie asked me if I don’t get depressed spending so much time on political blogs. While I totally understand the question, I just spent this morning with some incredibly inspiring activities. I thought I’d share them with you in case you have the feeling that its all hopeless.
Here’s the link to a blog “Peace Takes Courage” that was started by a 15 year old girl, Ava Lowery, from Alabama (of all places) who has become incredibly proficient in making flash point videos and is using her talents to try and end the Iraq war. Check out some of her videos at the site. What an inspiration she is!!
And here’s a diary by a guy whose blog name is BostonJoe about what he’s doing to try to stop the war. It sounds like a fantastic plan to me. Perhaps we should start something similar with Sen. Coleman.
For me, I need to know what’s going on and I also need some small ways that I know I can make a difference. Otherwise its hopeless.
I’ve thought about Edie’s question a couple of times since she asked. There are times I get angry/sad/enraged, but as the bumper sticker says, “If you’re not enraged, you’re not paying attention.” For me, being enraged is better than feeling hopeless.
I know that we all do what we can to cope with the madness – but that’s where its at for me.
Peace,
So thanks for all the times I laugh/cry/rage/think/learn/hope.
And sorry for the nerdified links. I wrote this 3 times and kept loosing it to the on-line gremlins.

I ate too much for lunch.
I got so involved in that “Armando” thread I forgot to put the chicken in the oven.
So… guess I’m having chicken for dinner, huh?
Better than forgetting to take it out.
The return of Febble, here and here.
