I haven’t been paying that much attention to him or any other presidential hopeful and probably won’t till 08 gets much closer. But if he’s a part of the rightward tilt of the dems, then I’m not likely to support him.
Mostly cleaning the house because my oldest son is visiting from Cleveland tomorrow and I want him to think I’ve changed from the old days and now keep a clean house with plenty of nutritious food in the frig.
And boy #2 has 4 parties to make appearances at today before he and Mr. Nature take off for his college town because freshman testing begins at 8:00 AM tomorrow and it’s a 2.5 hour drive…so they’re staying at a local hotel.
Testing and then scheduling. Then he gets the rest of the summer off. He’s just pissed because he’s missing a couple more graduation parties, but they stretch well into next weekend so I don’t feel too sorry for him. He’ll go to more parties in the next week than I’ve been to lo these 29 years of my existence.
No, not at all. 🙂 And I certainly wouldn’t use that someone to make my husband do all sorts of work around the house. Sheesh, he’ll hate me before I give him a real reason to.
Yeah, the two of us finally doing two whole things that we’ve putting off since last year is really going to ruin his whole summer of sleeping and bike-riding. (Since the summer around 25 years ago when I found him a job working on a shaker table at a scrap yard, he’s pretty much been happy to do anything that isn’t a regular job.)
We have a very egalitarian marriage: if he’s got a project to do, I’ve got the same one; if I’ve got a one, he does too — which is how things get put off from December all the way into June.
Hi folks!!!! The convention is over!!!! I had a great time but am totally exhausted. I will be heading home later today. I met some incredible people and candidates. I feel really stupid as I did not read my full press packet and I could have done private interviews with candidates for my podcast. Oh well, I will know better next time.
LOL Trust me I am. I even came back to the room after dinner last night and crashed and skipped going out on the town. I told my friends I would love to jusy go to a piano bar or lounge and drink but they wanted to go out bar hopping and I said no. When they called me at 9:45 they woke me up and I said no and rolled over and went right back to sleep. LOL
probably. LOL I still wish I had done more actual posting from the convention but I was so busy with different groups that I had very little free time anyway.
I was off to a good start on Sunday until I read the NYT lead article about the suicides at Gitmo. This quote my Rear Adm. Harry B. Harris Jr, just made my blood boil.
“They are smart, they are creative, they are committed,” Admiral Harris said. “They have no regard for life, neither ours nor their own. I believe this was not an act of desperation, but an act of asymmetrical warfare waged against us.”
Arghhh. Will the U.S. Government EVER accept responsibility for it has one? Damn, terrorists! How dare they commit suicide in our illegal prison camp?
Andi, your pictures always remind me of the Emerald Necklace of gorgeous protected woodlands that encircle Cleveland. I used to take the kids there almost every weekend to walk around and wade in the rivers or collect colorful leaves in the fall and then press them into wax paper to decorate the windows. Wherever we lived we were never more than a mile away from an entrace to the parks.
It is definitely an oasis. BTW, Cleveland and surrounding area has lots of trees. The shoreline of Lake Erie is beautiful with shale cliffs and dense woods or sandy beaches.
That sounds wonderful. I’m sure I’m prejudiced but I don’t think the forests of the northeastern US (which I will extend to include VA, KY and TN) can be matched anywhere. Trivia: Great Smoky Mountain National Park has more species of trees than all of Europe combined.
You think I’d know more about the Emerald Necklace but I’m a little skinny on details. I do know that it’s a deep river valley that was formed by glaciers millions of years ago. Parts of it look prehistoric.
If you’ve ever read any narratives of the early settler of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, one thing that comes through is the sheer density of the never-ending forest. In one account I read, people trying to find a place to settle in southern Indiana talk about going three weeks without ever seeing the sky because the canopy was so heavy.
Mornin, afternoon, everyone, how are you all doing.
Just wanted to let froggybottom know that I am watching the cafe and will post a new cafe when this one gets to about 90. Now sometimes when I think I will do that, in minutes the cafe zooms in numbers of comments and I miss the window of opportunity to post, cause I’m off doing some of this and that.
Hey it’s early out here, gloomy, temp is 63 at almost 8 am, so you can see what kind of great weather we are having…however I bet that some of you in the 90+ areas would be happy to have those temps…lol.
If this comment makes no sense, attribute it to the early hours…lol
Just came back upstairs from breakfast — our secure vacation bunker has a free breakfast buffet which is quite cool. 🙂 Last night’s dinner was wonderful; Copper River salmon (what the spouse calls “the Kobe Beef of salmon”) with potatoes and veggies. It was quite delicious — the two of us will likely get plenty of Omega-3’s (the good fat) on this trip. 😉
Spouse just went down to get something to eat, so I’m going to lay back down for about 20 minutes, then get up and brush my teeth and put on the war paint; we’re going to head off for the late service at the local Episcopal cathedral, then come back here for a short nap before we head back out for the evening. Haven’t done a whole lot of photography thus far; will do more today, then tonight I can work on uploading a few to my Photobucket account.
Just a hit and run my son and I are off to the Farmer’s Market…
It’s been another lazy morning with the LAT Sunday crossword puzzle. My favorite Sunday morning assignment!
Love the photo, AndiF! Its almost as gorgeous as the one from yesterday. LOL!
Glad you liked the Constant Gardener if you are reading this, IVG. Tell me what you thought of Ralph Fiennes. He is definitely way up on my top ten list.
See all you froggies later! Keep your tummies dry!
We have to stop meeting this way! Lol Looks like another gray and coolsh day here (I know I’ll want this next month but now it’s annoying!), and not sure I’ll get much of anything done outside, since the temperature hasn’t even broken 60 yet! I may just slack the day away again and concentrate on some inside chores.
Well, at least now I can quit confusing Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson … He was very very good, and I thought Rachel Weisz did an excellent job as well. Oh, and there was a preview on the DVD for P&P, that new version. That made me think of you and your Austen fetish. hehe
Hope your Sunday is going well, and I may end up here again later, depending on how the evening goes.
Update to froggybottom, I have to leave my house in a few minutes to go with daughter and I fear I will not be here to post a new cafe, sorry…see you all later, it’s off to shopping.
Not what I thought I would be. I had to install a new printer for a relative and then show him how to use it, the program and his computer. I’ve been teaching class most of the day. 🙁
Yeah I have to admit I like them calling me. They use maybe one percent of their computer and now they’ve gotten a digital camera and printer and it’s not as easy as they thought it would be. Then again, I had to show them how to transfer the pictures from their card over to thier computer. They’ve had this computer for 2 years and still haven’t gotten a lot of the basics.
Yeah, it would be nice to go back and make different decisions knowing what you know now. Except for my kids I would have done alot of things differently. Plus, it sure would be nice to have that 18 year old body again.
I took a philosophy class several years ago and it was so boring I just stared at the back of Fernando’s neck who was the 20 year old kid who sat in front of me. When I started fantasizing about licking his neck I knew I was offically a perverted old woman.
Hey, we got one of the two projects done. It took 3 hours instead of 30 minutes but that’s what we get for letting the Evil Eye know we thought it would be a snap.
Rainy and in the 50s here so that feels more like November than June but hey it’s still the weekend.
Morning Andi. That’s a lovely picture today.
Wonder how things have been going in Vegas?
on NPR right now.
Morning FM. I hope you have lovely plans to do absolutely nothing today.
Hi Andi,
What does NPR say about the weekend? Their usual sneering drivel?
Morning KB.
Good Morning Family Man. Did I read somewhere here that you get a break from yard work today?
Yep, tho it’s a never ending battle. Today if I can keep the naps away, I going to give George a haircut.
I’ll take before, during and after pictures. Poor George will look really scraggly after I get through with him. 🙁
I only wish he had enough hair on top of his head so I could give him a mohawk. 🙂
No it was quite respectful. They noted that political savvy of the crowd and that covered the reaction to Warner’s speech, which was mixed.
That’s a surprise.
I have a mixed reaction to Warner myself.
I haven’t been paying that much attention to him or any other presidential hopeful and probably won’t till 08 gets much closer. But if he’s a part of the rightward tilt of the dems, then I’m not likely to support him.
I was wanting to get the weed eating done today, but my Mom is old school and she frowns upon lawnwork or loud machines outside on Sunday.
So, George might get a haircut today. I don’t know where all this energy has come from lately. 🙂
It’s your sexual energy being channeled into house and yardwork.
So that’s it. I had forgotten what it’s like. 🙂
Yard work or sexual energy?
How did I know you were going to say that?
I’m very predictable I guess. 🙂
Morning you two. Beautiful woods, Andi – they look so cool and refreshing.
Morning SN. Got big plans for the day?
Mostly cleaning the house because my oldest son is visiting from Cleveland tomorrow and I want him to think I’ve changed from the old days and now keep a clean house with plenty of nutritious food in the frig.
And boy #2 has 4 parties to make appearances at today before he and Mr. Nature take off for his college town because freshman testing begins at 8:00 AM tomorrow and it’s a 2.5 hour drive…so they’re staying at a local hotel.
You’ve got a busy day. Boy #2 already has to go for testing? Doesn’t he get a break or something?
Testing and then scheduling. Then he gets the rest of the summer off. He’s just pissed because he’s missing a couple more graduation parties, but they stretch well into next weekend so I don’t feel too sorry for him. He’ll go to more parties in the next week than I’ve been to lo these 29 years of my existence.
He’d better be glad you haven’t chained him to the house so far. 🙂
about how clean your house looked before someone comes visiting?
No, not at all. 🙂 And I certainly wouldn’t use that someone to make my husband do all sorts of work around the house. Sheesh, he’ll hate me before I give him a real reason to.
Yeah, the two of us finally doing two whole things that we’ve putting off since last year is really going to ruin his whole summer of sleeping and bike-riding. (Since the summer around 25 years ago when I found him a job working on a shaker table at a scrap yard, he’s pretty much been happy to do anything that isn’t a regular job.)
That was a creative job you found for him – I’m sorry he was so ungrateful. Does he ever try to find weekend jobs for you?
We have a very egalitarian marriage: if he’s got a project to do, I’ve got the same one; if I’ve got a one, he does too — which is how things get put off from December all the way into June.
I hope it will still be looking that nice when you get to see it but usually the deep green fades by then. But it’s still nice. 🙂
I’m sure they’ll be beautiful.
Morning Refinish. I’m glad you had a great time, but the totally exhausted bit, I don’t buy.
LOL
Who kidnapped Refinish. This isn’t the one I know. You impostor what did ya do with him. 🙂
ROTFLMAO!!!! You have to remember I don’t party much and we have gone out partying every night since we got hre. LOL
I guess I can understand that, but I still not sure you’re the real Refinish. 🙂
Maybe it was a good thing that you didn’t know — since it sounds like you already had more than enough to keep you busy.
probably. LOL I still wish I had done more actual posting from the convention but I was so busy with different groups that I had very little free time anyway.
Hi All.
I was off to a good start on Sunday until I read the NYT lead article about the suicides at Gitmo. This quote my Rear Adm. Harry B. Harris Jr, just made my blood boil.
Arghhh. Will the U.S. Government EVER accept responsibility for it has one? Damn, terrorists! How dare they commit suicide in our illegal prison camp?
I share your anger. I was going to say that quote is unbelievable, but sadly it is not.
Morning Kahli. Take some deep breaths.
Good idea. I think I’ll try some yoga before heading off to work.
Morning!!! I agree and share your anger as well.
You mean Cleveland had woods in and around it. Go figure.
It is definitely an oasis. BTW, Cleveland and surrounding area has lots of trees. The shoreline of Lake Erie is beautiful with shale cliffs and dense woods or sandy beaches.
I actually don’t know that much about Cleveland, but you make it sound beautiful. Isn’t that where Laverne & Shirley lived. 🙂
I believe Laverne and Shirley lived in Milwaukee.
Oh yeah, I knew it was one of those places up there. 🙂
Wasn’t Boss Hogg from Alabama?
Nah, he was one of those Georgia rednecks. 😛
Those Georgia rednecks are the worst! Now yer ‘Bama rednecks is more refined.
That sounds wonderful. I’m sure I’m prejudiced but I don’t think the forests of the northeastern US (which I will extend to include VA, KY and TN) can be matched anywhere. Trivia: Great Smoky Mountain National Park has more species of trees than all of Europe combined.

Well before I get into trouble by mixing up Cleveland and Milwaukee I better get started on the day.
It’s supposed to hit 98 F by 2:00 pm today, so I can’t put off getting stuff done.
Everyone have a good day in the pond.
Mornin, afternoon, everyone, how are you all doing.

Really enjoying the break from normalcy thus far…
Just a hit and run my son and I are off to the Farmer’s Market…

▼ ▼ ▼ MY DIARY
Update to froggybottom, I have to leave my house in a few minutes to go with daughter and I fear I will not be here to post a new cafe, sorry…see you all later, it’s off to shopping.
We’re averaging one comment per hour! Woo hoo!
Man it been a busy day. Who’s around?
Hey FM. What have you been doing?
Not what I thought I would be. I had to install a new printer for a relative and then show him how to use it, the program and his computer. I’ve been teaching class most of the day. 🙁
Still sounds better than yardwork. Don’t you feel really smart when you can teach someone about computers?
Yeah I have to admit I like them calling me. They use maybe one percent of their computer and now they’ve gotten a digital camera and printer and it’s not as easy as they thought it would be. Then again, I had to show them how to transfer the pictures from their card over to thier computer. They’ve had this computer for 2 years and still haven’t gotten a lot of the basics.
I can remember my ex having to show me even the most basic elements of computering. I remember asking “what do you mean by click on it?”
Yes we all have to learn, but I’ve found I don’t have the patience. I keep saying “Get up and let me sit down at the computer and show you.”
Is #2 son still out partying or head out now?
He’s at parties all day until they have to leave around 8:30. Oh, to have his social life – let alone all the free food.
Forget the food, to be graduating from high school would be nice again. 🙂
Yeah, it would be nice to go back and make different decisions knowing what you know now. Except for my kids I would have done alot of things differently. Plus, it sure would be nice to have that 18 year old body again.
Well you know it’s easy enough to have the social life your son is having now.
College! 🙂
I can just see it now. All of the college age kids will be dying to party with someone who reminds them of their MOM.
Why not. You could become a Sugar Mama. 🙂
I took a philosophy class several years ago and it was so boring I just stared at the back of Fernando’s neck who was the 20 year old kid who sat in front of me. When I started fantasizing about licking his neck I knew I was offically a perverted old woman.
As if you could be anything else. 🙂
Philosophy was always something I had wanted to take in college, but never did.
I’m confused: perverted = normal?
now that might be appealing.
Whoa, the cafe is hopping now!
Hey, we got one of the two projects done. It took 3 hours instead of 30 minutes but that’s what we get for letting the Evil Eye know we thought it would be a snap.
Never plan, just go with the flow.
Tell me about this project.
I wouldn’t be complaining about the 3 hours (well, maybe I would).
Didn’t Booman have a diary once about what makes women happy? Notice I stayed out of that one too. 🙂
Good move, FM. Remain mysterious.
I think I’ll go ahead and open a happy hour.
would be because I don’t have that 18 year old body.
Lounge now open for Happy hour!
