I hate fluid timelines. I hope they evolve in your favor.
Holding up pretty good so far. I’ve got a ton of cleaning to do in the house this morning, but that’s OK.
The plan for the day, take a kilo of chocolate with you and if they say anything to you, tell em, “Don’t make me call FM.” That should quieten them down. 🙂
Well I’m going to try, but it’s not the nap itself, but the timing of the nap. I figure thinking, “OK I’m going to take a 20 minute fast nap.” doesn’t do you any good.
When you have to time your naps, or take them when you can, it negates the entire lazy aura of a nap. 🙂
Of course if you can’t nap, you slack. You remember, slack when possible.
Yeah, I’ve been Lurky Lorraine lately. Not feeling well. Nothing new or particularly serious, just routine chronic illness stuff, tired and too much to do.
Well, I hope you get a run of feeling good soon. You deserve it.
We had a great time. We went to the Clearwater Festival on Saturday and met up with ask and his family, had a lazy Sunday barbecuing and lounging on the patio here at Chez Cabin, went to the Camden Aquarium on Monday, and of course, Drinking Liberally on Tuesday night. 🙂
Good to see a couple of posts from you. Still sending healing and energetic thoughts your way. And still keeping an eye on your blog. Very strong writing there. Remember, if you ever do get around to writing that F&SF novel, you have a standing invitation to tap me for advice on the state of the F&SF markets etc. Off to do book stuff now – this time for sure.
Thanks for the healing energies & kind offer, Kelly.
I’ve written several novels in the past; some but not all were F&/orSF in theme. My writing suffers badly from my chronic illness. Over the time it takes to produce a longer piece of work, my plots & the symbolic playfulness I enjoy weaving in between other stylistic elements both fall to the same fate as do my sentences on a bad day — it all gets clumsy, disconnected and awkward, and doesn’t make sense in the way I intend. It all got very frustrating a year or so ago, which is why I’m sticking with shorter pieces for the time being. But it is a wonderful compliment that you think my writing is strong, so thanks muchly for the ego-boost. 🙂
I hope you’re finding sufficiently pleasant conditions to finish your latest work in a way that gives you that thoroughly exhausted-but-satisfied Writers’ Glow™.
Morning everyone. MT and little dude are still sleeping and if they’re waiting for the natural sounds of the house to wake them up they’ll probably sleep until well after noon. Summertime and the Nature Boys don’t stir until then.
She’s a delight and very easy to talk to and it feels like I already know her. Also, she looks eerily like my oldest sister, Karen.
Brown is fine, not growing is better. And now, I’ve really got to get to work.
On another note, my agent just emailed me to let me know WebMage is scheduled for a Publisher’s Weekly Review going live on the day after it comes out. This is very good. PW doesn’t do a lot of mass market paperback reviews of F&SF.
Another 2000 words in the rearview yesterday. Shooting for 3000 today, so I won’t be around much. Turns out I’ll have wireless in Maine, and the book should be done, so I might be around a bit more next week. Hope everyone is having a lovely week.
Tea for today (gardening special): English Rose. A black blend of congou and rose petals. The rose note is light, just enough to put you a walk among the flowers.
I’ll be off kayaking and camping with the family and SallyCat and Mr.SallyCat. I’ll be back by Saturday but then I’ll be off again busy with preparing and doing pr stuff for the Ft. Lewis road trip.
Yep, he didn’t want it killed. He said there had to be another option to killing it. I agree with him, but the local animal control people don’t have anything for capturing an 8 foot alligator.
I think they were trying to get some things together or other experienced people here to do it, but it’s gone on to another place.
We have company for dinner on Thursdays, so I’m cooking something in the crockpot. It’s French beef stew, or, sort-of stewed beef, I guess. I hope it turns out, I’ve never made it before.
I also hope they get your gator before s/he does any serious harm. I make jokes but they scare the hell out of me.
I love using the crockpot. It makes it so much easier a lot of times, and in dealing with my slackerhood that’s the only way to go.
Yeah, I’m not to fond of gators either. Though it made front page on our local paper. But just having next door neighbors visiting will make it to the front page from time to time. 🙂
I would like a little break from the heat myself. It looks like rain isn’t even forcast until late next week.
Maybe now you`ll get it. The other day I posted a pic of my teacher. Kansas[?] I think asked if my teacher was Jerry Garcia. I said “he has all his fingers”. To dada I gave him a clue by saying, “I`m self taught”. Next, I told him the next day,[I think], “I`m not Jerry Garcia”.
Olivia, go back to the picture of the teacher & the clue “I`m self taught” should be apparent.
No? Go to the picture of the crew on the bridge of “THE ANSWER” & look at the person circled. Fast-forward to the teacher who is self-taught.
Who is it?
It`s him in the first image, on “THE ANSWER” in the second image. http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/6696/theanswerlargesc000954612be.jpg http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/1433/theanswersc000acc306qp.jpg
Oh damn me. I thought I was gonna be the first one here this morning!
How goes it?
to be me since I put up the coffee cart which whatever time I take between putting it up and logging back in as myself.
So what’s the financial news this morning?
Heh…I didn’t know that. Guess I just revealed myself to be a newer guy around these parts.
It’s okay. Reading some article about how drug-coated stents suck.
as that my incoherent sentence shows, you are much more awake than I am so maybe I ought to wait and let go first.
I should stop typing before 7 a.m.
Busy day planned?
Hi Olivia.
Hi FM.
Only two more days of FCH. 🙂
I have a feeling that the timelines are fluid and may evolve.
How are you holding up?
I hate fluid timelines. I hope they evolve in your favor.
Holding up pretty good so far. I’ve got a ton of cleaning to do in the house this morning, but that’s OK.
The plan for the day, take a kilo of chocolate with you and if they say anything to you, tell em, “Don’t make me call FM.” That should quieten them down. 🙂
It seems like your housecleaning, like lawncare, is never-ending. I hope you get some naps in today.
Well I’m going to try, but it’s not the nap itself, but the timing of the nap. I figure thinking, “OK I’m going to take a 20 minute fast nap.” doesn’t do you any good.

Thank you o wise one … and on that note, I’m off. See you later — can’t miss FM-and-George cafe day. 🙂
Housework is like painting in the rain. Nothing is ever done, it’s always just in various stages of undone.
Morning Indy. I couldn’t agree with you more.
How’re you feeling today?
I’m the same as I usually am, Family Man, how ’bout yourself on this fine summer mornin’?
I’m doing fine. I’ve got a sunny outlook and I’m just waiting to see what the first emergency of the day will be.
I guess it doesn’t help when you have visitors to clean up after either.
True. I feel like my laundry is a neverending chore.
How are you? I saw you lurking in the lounge last night…
Yeah, I’ve been Lurky Lorraine lately. Not feeling well. Nothing new or particularly serious, just routine chronic illness stuff, tired and too much to do.
How was your visit w/MT & Son?
Well, I hope you get a run of feeling good soon. You deserve it.

I don’t plan, I just let day flow over me. 🙂
on your walk?
that was good but I still have several more from earlier that I haven’t posted yet.
Speaking of — your flower posting seems to have slowed way down lately.
I’m stressing out w/ the you-know-what and not even taking photos seems to be helping. I hope I get over it soon.
Morning Andi an Psi. How are ya’ll today?
Just getting ready to go for my morning walk.
Since you have guests, are you going to do the cafe today? (I’ll read the answer when I get back.)
Enjoy the walk and yeah I’ll be able to do the cafe today.
Andi, Psi, and FM!
It just started to pour here, so I guess a walk for me will have to wait. I hope it’s not going to rain all day.
Morning CG, I’ll be happy to take some of that rain.
Well, it appears to have been very short-lived. Just enough to make the grass grow, I guess.
That’s the worst kind of rain. Argggg. Just enough to make the grass grow. 🙁
Well there’s cleaning to do and people/animals moving around. Got to get busy. I’ll keep checking back.
See Ya’ll later.
Morning SN. I’m back for a minute. I’m really happy to hear you and MT and little dude had such a good time.
How’re ya doing today?
I told ya’ll yesterday my neighbor has an automatic sprinkling system and I don’t water. I think brown is such a pretty color for grass. 🙂
Well its back to the grind.
Later
Makes it grow slower too.
Brown is fine, not growing is better. And now, I’ve really got to get to work.

Penguin-Cheney, Riddler-Bush, Catwoman-Rice, Joker-Rummy
Scooter Libby actually makes a better Joker, but he’s been taken care of (for now).
it must be on vacation in Philly 😉
I’ll be off kayaking and camping with the family and SallyCat and Mr.SallyCat. I’ll be back by Saturday but then I’ll be off again busy with preparing and doing pr stuff for the Ft. Lewis road trip.
Be safe. Be strong.
xoxox!
DJ you be safe and be strong.
Take care.
Anybody here?
I’m eating lunch right now. How are you doing?
Hi Olivia. I’m doing as well as can be expected.
I won’t even ask about your day, because I already have a good idea how it’s going. 🙁
Eat that chocolate and slack when possible. 🙂
And you stay away from that pond … 🙂
I’m not going near the pond. The allagator mystery has gone up a notch.
In the local paper today, they said it’s gone from the last place they saw it. Right now, nobody knows where it is.
It’s last sighting was on the other side of town, so I’m not to worried about it getting here, but you never know.
Don’t be walking near any ditches then … he might be there too!
Did you say in one of the comments last night that the man didn’t want them to come and capture it when it was in his pond?
Yep, he didn’t want it killed. He said there had to be another option to killing it. I agree with him, but the local animal control people don’t have anything for capturing an 8 foot alligator.
I think they were trying to get some things together or other experienced people here to do it, but it’s gone on to another place.
I just hope it doesn’t hurt any people or pets.
I better get back to it. I’m glad you were here FM — it was a very nice break. 🙂
Have a good afternoon and talk to ya later!
I hope the rest of your day goes good Olivia.
I’ll be looking forward to seeing you later on.
I hear that theme during two things…
When I’m swimming… (even in a pool)
or
SHARKS HOCKEY!
(((INDY)))
Have fun on your trip {{DJ}} — and stay away from the poison oak! 🙂
Hi Indy. I’ll be watching where I go until it’s captured.
I haven’t heard anything about people or pets being hurt, but it’s still unusual for this area.
I can’t remember ever hearing of an alligator around these parts. What’s common in South FL is raising a lot of excitement here.
How’s your day going so far? I hope you’re feeling better.
We have company for dinner on Thursdays, so I’m cooking something in the crockpot. It’s French beef stew, or, sort-of stewed beef, I guess. I hope it turns out, I’ve never made it before.

Like a tortoise … 😉
And seriously, if you need any help search-wise let me know. Email address is under my username.
A tortoise is slow. They constantly pass me as I’m out walking.
I’m in good company … 🙂
