I’ll be at Phil Lesh & Friends tonight. It doesn’t get much more frivolous than that. While I’m gone have some fun, but try not to shoot anyone in the face or start a preemptive war with no exit strategy.

I’ll try, Booman, but I can’t guarantee anything. ๐
I have to work at being frivolous and I’m too lazy for that today.
So instead I’d just like to ask everyone to go check out the fabulous video in the diary by Focus South Dakota On the Ballot and On the Web. Its scrolling away into oblivion and I’m just hoping you all get a chance to check it out.
I’ll be doing what I’ve been doing the last few nights: taking my son to his baseball games. This week’s the tournament, and our team kept themselves alive for another game and my son scored the winning run to boot. We’ll see how they do tonight. My son’s team might not be the winningest or most talented team in the league, but they are scrappy.
I think I’ll put Wake of the Flood in the Walkman (original 1980 version) and dream of days there were…
would be Go to Heaven.
A very bad album with almost no redeeming value.
Now 1973 saw the release of the only truly good fully electric Dead studio album.
Thanks for clearing that one up, BooMan! I was just about to say waaaittt! 1980 was the year of the awful airbrushed commercial dreck. I should have known better at the time given that horrendous cover, but I was too deadicated and plunked my money down anyway. Never touch it anymore, though some live versions of some of those songs were pretty damn good.
I love Wake of the Flood of that era, I think of the studio albums, that and Mars Hotel are my favorites.
Oh yeah, btw… I’m so very jealous of you getting to see Phil and Friends! Please give us a mini report when you get a chance.
It’s the Walkman that’s a 1980 version – one of the original metal ones. It has fallen off my desk more times than I can count when I’ve been at work and turned my chair too quickly and the earphone cord dragged it. At this point, it’s held together with Scotch tape, but it still works and I have a drawer full of taped albums and concert tapes. I didn’t find the Dead until around 1980, but I love the early albums with Pigpen growling the blues and Jerry’s tenor (at least I think he was a tenor, so let’s just say “voice”) sooths my soul.. Go To Heaven was a great album too, along with Terrapin Station, Working Man’s Dead, American Beauty, Europe 72 WOW!!, and the “nameless album” – the one that the band insisted should be Skull F*** until the record company brought the price down. {g} What I like best is that the band (and the songs) are never the same – whatever type of music I’m in the mood for, I can find it on one album or another. Enjoy the concert and let us know how it goes.
I’d like to enjoy my weekend but I’m too horrified by what Israel is doing in Gaza. It’s time to pull the plug on Israel once and for all.
An after work nap, then off to my favorite coffee shop.
Go out to dinner to celebrate my son cashing in at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He came in 20th out of 2800 entrants and this was his first really BIG win.
Awesome. That’s fantastic. Now remind me not to play with him.
No kidding!! We were brought up in a family that had the motto, “Shut up and Deal”. Now the bugger won’t even play our silly family games like Black Mirah or Baseball…lol!
I hope he spoils you and the grandleezy rotten with gifts and food. A cruise wouldn’t hurt either. ๐
He already spoils me and the grandleezy…lol! Hey, I’m out of here. Calling it a day. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend and make the most of it you lucky devils that get a four day weekend. be careful, be safe!
Booman, Be sure to spend most of the night yelling out “Unbroken Chain! Unbroken Chain!” over and over. Phil loves that.
Have fun ๐
So my t-shirt will be arriving in the mail in a few days, right?
