It was really just a statement, not a question. I was just looking to see what the various options were in the general vicinity of the Loop/Magnificent Mile for October.
Although I think the chance of getting a better rate increases toward September when they realize they need to run a few October specials.

Mary, did you ever notice how flat it is out there and how the highways are really straight and that there isn’t much in the way of traffic? Anyway, apparently the midwest frowns on doing 130 in a 60. Live and learn. It was for the best, as it remided me of why I don’t own a car.

Chicago? That’s no Effingham. I do know it. I’m not saying I’ve been there as often as I’ve been to New Jersey, but I think a few visits to Illinois probably qualifies me as an expert on the Midwest. My old employer. I worked in the coat department though, not shoes. The shoe people worked on commission, the rest of us didn’t.

Oh, I never would last in the coat department — I have a weakness for them, too, and they’re expensive.
I only worked in one department store, my third shortest job. I worked for a day in the gift wrapping department of The Broadway, a store since bought by Macy’s. It was right before Christmas and it was a horror.
