FYI, I’ve got some excerpts from Katharine Jefferts Schori’s interview on NPR up at my Religious Left Blog. I liked when KJS+ mentioned that, historically, we know that women had leaderhip positions in the early church, so, in a sense, we are just “getting back to our roots” when we move forward with ordaining women at all levels.
On a related note, one of those ubiquitous church marquis signs inspired some patriotic ponderings in me yesterday. Time for America to be “born again”?

I have recently done some cross posting at MyDD to be honest because Booman really has a geniune affection and belief in Chris Bowers…..so I thought, what the hell it isn’t like participating there by cross posting would be a huge pain or anything. There is this diary on the front page at MyDD though titled Bush Began Spying on Americans Before 9/11. It’s kind of a Holy Shit diary and if you haven’t seen it and read about it you may want to.
Today I wept.
Because more attrocities are being committed by “our troops”.
Raping young women and burning their bodies…. how the fuck is this shit not stopping “Americans” in the streets and making them wake up?
How many are going to celebrate their Independence?? We’re NOT free. We’re not independant by any means. It’s all so much bullshit.
We’re slaves.

We can all just throw our whole holiday selves into it. We can dye eggs, buy lavish gifts for each other….and then we can tie the eggs to bottle rockets and send them to the flying spaghetti monster for his birthday! We can hide the rest of the fireworks around the yard and challenge our children to a WMD hunt! I can’t wait, I’m making potato salad right now!
