Whatchy’all got?
Hey there CG! About to flee the ICEcube here at work, but thought I’d stop in and say hey there… hope to get a 10 up later if all goes well. I may have to have a martini (Hendricks, of course) tonight to wrap up another week from the nether regions … but then we also want to shop a bit and see the Gore movie, so we’ll see what wins out. At this point I’m thinking a quick trip to Target, Popeye’s Chicken for dinner and movies at home in the cool house tonight, since we’re in the inferno/humidity thing ourselves for the next week or so…
Did you see my note yesterday (I believe it was?) about the Zanfel for poison ivy? You may want to check into that for CBtY… Sorry to do a drive by posting but have to wrap up a few more things before I flee… Hope you and all the FBL gang have a great weekend!!!
I did catch that IVG- thanks!
Have a great weekend!
we’ve both got Jack Johnson on our lists — is he the Official Singer of the Froggy Bottom Cafe? π
If Second Nature shows up, he could be…I’ve seen him on her lists too.
It’s Still Rock And Roll To Me-Billy Joel
King Of Spain-Moxy Früvous
Working In The Coal Mine-Devo
Maybe For Sure-Blondie
(I’m) Hurting Inside-“The Mighty Quinn” Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Automatic-Prince
Walking Down Your Street-Bangles
Backfired [Extended]-Blondie
Bulbous Bouffant-The Very Best of Dr. Demento-The Vestibules
Touching The Untouchables-Men At Work
Plus, since I grabbed the links for Boston Joe earlier, reviews on WebMage for those are interested:
Publishers Weekly.
SFRevu.
Fresh Fiction.
Alternative Worlds.
I got a four star review from Romantic Times too, but that one’s not available online yet.
Powell’s shipped my order (which included WebMage) yesterday…
Today’s Random 10:
The Humpty Dance — Digital Underground
She Will Be Loved — Maroon 5
Crying Shame — Jack Johnson
Town Without Pity — Gene Pitney
Karma Chameleon — Culture Club
Salvator mundi, salva nos II (comp. Tallis) — Andrew Parrott & Taverner Choir
Dizzy Miss Lizzy — The Beatles
Long Time Gone — Crosby, Stills & Nash
I Want A New Duck — Weird Al Yankovic
Sabre Dance (comp. Khatchaturian) — Hungarian State Orchestra
That last one is a must for any good Keith Olbermann/”Oddball” fan’s collection… π
Now playing: Once in a Lifetime by Talking Heads; “this is not my beautiful house…” π
Thanks!
they also shipped two of the books in Arcadia’s Images of Rail series (that I spotted for the spouse), and a book on Portland hill walks that was on sale; we’re hoping for a Portland jaunt sometime next year.
I gotta stay away from the Powell’s website; it’s hazardous to my budget… π
You have a wonderful list there. Anyone who can put The Vestibules, Devo, Moxy Fruvous and Blondie all on thesame list is OK by me.
It really showcases my 80s and musical humor biases. My iTunes knows me well.
Ack, is it time to leave soon?
Shuffle gives:
As always, no particular order:
Four Little Diamonds — ELO
An Untitled Protest — Country Joe and the Fish
Making Every Minute Count — Spanky and Our Gang
Spanish Harlem — The Mamas And The Papas
Muleskinner Blues — Bill Monroe
Moondance — Van Morrison
Instant Karma — Plastic Ono Band
Frank’s Not In The Band Anymore — Worm Quartet
Africa — Toto
and in memory of Syd Barrett:
Shine On You Crazy Diamond — Pink Floyd
but I feel a little bit Stevie Nicks tonight so does that count? I have heard back though from my Unicef contact and my U.N. contact for the story on the children in Nepal. Now my U.N. email was just an email letting me know I was being handed off but it is still very cool and I haven’t even dialed a phone yet.
Hi Tracy,
Don’t know what your Unicef-contact may have sent you. Meanwhile, try these:
Unicef – Nepal
UNDP – Nepal
no one’s around… π
Yikes! It’s an hour later and the place is completely empty! Guess i’ll get something to go…
