Well, I’m building a computer tonight, and I’m probably going to go do some canvassing or some sort of volunteer work for Lamont this weekend. I just need to call their office and see what’s happening.
Oh, that reminds me of when I was working at a gradeschool… I spent a lot of time in the special needs classroom. There was one little guy who latched on to a story about how my computer was broken. For years when he saw me in the hall he would shout “Mrs B’s Pooter is broke!” God, I loved him to pieces. I taught that whole class to “riverdance”. Yeah, I know, all I did was jump around and stamp my feet wildly and they all had an absolute blast doing their riverdance.
Don’t you just love little kids? It sounds like you were great fun.
‘puter always reminds me of what a terrible speller my first husband is.
One time we were playing Scrabble with a bunch of people at a lakeside cabin and he put down ‘puter’ and everyone just sort of looked at it but were afraid to say anything. I asked him for some context and it turns out he meant ‘pewter’. Poor guy.
Good morning Andi and Psi.
Glad to hear your heat wave subsiding.
This morning, there was still no trace of our two missing suitcases – so we’re just back from emergency shopping for youngest asklet and myself. Hight of irony; just as we’re loading up the car at the local mall I get the call that says luggage has been located and will get here late this afternoon (it’s already 1.35 pm here). So now we have a lot more to schlep around this vacation.
Good morning, Olivia.
Yes, lol – but since I hardly ever go shopping in any case (I don’t like it, makes me claustrofobic), it was a useful supplement/renewal to the wardrobe.
Well, KN, thanks – my siblings and I think of it that way too.
I’m also glad that my kids enjoy going there – what could be more different than Manhattan, where they otherwise grow up.
I he everyone has been having a great week and has a fabulous weekend planned. I have been so busy I have not been in the pond much this week and have missed you all. Life is only going to get more hectic as election season gets closer. I have had a meeting every night this week and will be at a training seminar all weekend. I am plugging my latest podcast of course. LOL
Too damn hot to sleep — I dozed off and on till about 3am, then said, “Screw it” and got up for a bit. Think I’ll try again in a bit.
Supposed to reach high of 82 here, then get hotter over the weekend…I’m about ready to tell the spouse I need to check into a local air-conditioned motel for a few days, with or without him…I’m tired of feeling like I’m a wet mop 24/7. As they say about Bush and global warming, “It’s not the heat, it’s the stupidity.” lol
I hope it gets cooler here. Still no electricity (or water)…and today’s claim from the power company is that it will be on at 11 PM tonight. I’m wondering how they plan to remove this tree in the dark…
I tossed and turned all night uncomfortably, asthma flaring up, lungs feeling like they’re on fire which experience tells me will be bronchitis.
I must have fallen asleep because I had a terrible dream about my mother’s death which involved her 7 daughters, all of us in our 40s and 50s now, having to rehearse and perform an interpretive dance number at her funeral. Not only that, but instead of a touching musical number they replayed the radio broadcast of the infamous Ernest Byner fumble in the AFC championship game which for a Clevelander is like listening to your own death, over and over again.
I don’t want to enjoy your suffering but I couldn’t help snorting at the interpretive dance moment.
I hope you’re going to hie thee to a dcotor. I let it go too long once and had to whine my way out of a hospital stay. I do hate that feeling of iron bands around my chest pressing against a bunch of hot coals.
Hope folks can indeed stay cool today. We’re heading for record highs in the 100s for the next two days and we are so not used to that. I’ll be trying to water the plants enough to get them through this spell. Weekend plans for going to the street fair will probably be cancelled as there isn’t much shade there and things start around 11am.
Had a friend and also a former housemate over for dinner last night. The former housemate and I had parted on unhappy terms three years ago and couldn’t really patch things up because she’s been working in Germany. It was so good to be together again, eating, gossiping, etc. and we parted with the rancor healed over-ah! One more regret I don’t have to carry around anymore.
Just popping in a bit here myself while at work, so have to be brief. Nice to see you ‘live’ RF! Sounds like you have a busy (as usual, what else is new?) weekend ahead of you! Don’t forget to give the diva dogs their requisite lovin or they’ll have their sniffers out of joint, lol.
Hope you have a fantabulous weekend down there in scorcho-land … we actually had a cold front come through early this morning and touch off some nice showers. We needed that rain, so glad it decided to do it while I’m at work! Much, MUCH cooler too … only 74 last time I checked.
Morning Iowa!!!! Yes, busy as always and hoping the training is a good one. I am taking the training track that is for someone running a county campaign for lots of candidates as I have worked on many individual campaigns and have been to so many grass roots trainings I could probably run one. LOL The Diva Dogs will get extra love and treats when I get home each night.
Yeah some events had to be canceled in Portland due to the heat coming up this weekend, but I’ll be there in Pioneer Sq at 5 for the rally. Hope you to see you soon.
Rainy and cooler here today, yay! I may even open up the house when I get home tonight if the humidity is down a bit, since the temps are supposed to only break the low 80’s tomorrow.
SO… pre-weekend howdies to you all, Andi, Olivia, FM, Psi, RF, CG (sorry you’re still w/out power!), SN, Cali and who did I miss? Oh yeah, ask, nag and Soup!
Still at the mind-numbing stuff I’ve been doing the past three days, so will be glad when 5:00 rolls around so I can escape. Didn’t even turn the ‘puter’ on last night my eyes were so tired. So we just watched our usual KO, popped in Amelie to watch again (it’s always so wonderful and fun to see that film), so I got my fix of Paris and the lovely Audrey Tautou… for those who haven’t seen this film, I recommend it highly. A ‘feel good’ movie in the best sense of the term … touching, funny and not schmaltzy. But of course, it’s French so what do you want?
Well better get back to the drudgery here… hope to be able to check in again later, but if not, you all have a great weekend!
High today is 13 degrees cooler than yesterday. Hope the same is happening wherever you are.
Morning Miss Andi!!!!
That looks like a Monet.
Ha! I beat Andi to first post here! π
Dammit! So close!
in full competitive mode. That ought to help Friday go faster.
Morning PF.
Heh. π Good morning to you as well, Andi. How goes it?
which is what counts.
So going to put all that youth to good use this weekend?
Well, I’m building a computer tonight, and I’m probably going to go do some canvassing or some sort of volunteer work for Lamont this weekend. I just need to call their office and see what’s happening.
Think you could work in some reckless abandon and partying in there for me — just to give me something to feel nostalgic about?
I wish – but given that I usually drive to places around here, and the lack of any sort of real ‘party scene’, I probably can’t fulfill your wish. :/
I guess I’ll just have to rely on my own bad past.
Hope the ‘puter building goes well.
Dogs are telling me it’s time to go do their version of partying.
Later.
“the ‘puter”
Oh, that reminds me of when I was working at a gradeschool… I spent a lot of time in the special needs classroom. There was one little guy who latched on to a story about how my computer was broken. For years when he saw me in the hall he would shout “Mrs B’s Pooter is broke!” God, I loved him to pieces. I taught that whole class to “riverdance”. Yeah, I know, all I did was jump around and stamp my feet wildly and they all had an absolute blast doing their riverdance.
Oh, yeah… good morning. π
I thought it was an even better nickname for computers than puter so imagine my disappointment when it turned out to be cats.
And ‘good morning’ back.
Poor guy.
That’s pretty funny.
Dare I mention that after 10 years of marriage he still spelled my name wrong?
I guess some things lose their charm after 10 years? π
(and I’d just like to echo AndiF on the lung thing…not that you asked or anything.)
You just don’t want me hacking up a lung all over you and the CBs. So selfish.
Selfish, but more because I want to drag everyone out on the sound in kayaks to watch the sun set… π
LOL Morning psi!!!!
Good morning Andi and Psi.
Glad to hear your heat wave subsiding.

So now we have a lot more to schlep around this vacation.
Howdy ask!!!!
Good morning, rf – isn’t this a late morning for you π
I’m on vacation with my kids in Norway, so its already afternoon.
Yes it is late for me. It is 7 am. I am off work today as I my seminar starts at 3 this afternoon.
Seminar, are you there to learn, or are you giving a presentation(s)?
LOL I will be attending. I guess I could host one after all the campaigns I have worked on and trainings I have been to. LOL
Of course your luggage has been located now that you’ve shopped … lol
Good morning, Olivia.
Yes, lol – but since I hardly ever go shopping in any case (I don’t like it, makes me claustrofobic), it was a useful supplement/renewal to the wardrobe.
What will you be doing in the next few days? Anything planned yet?
It doesn’t take much planning. We’ll be at the family summer house (a cabin, really) at the south coast.
Morning view from the veranda.
At a protected, little fjord with the ocean beyond the skerries in the background.
After a couple of days here in Oslo, we’ll head down tomorrow.
That`s not a vacation spot. That`s heaven.
Well, KN, thanks – my siblings and I think of it that way too.
I’m also glad that my kids enjoy going there – what could be more different than Manhattan, where they otherwise grow up.

Bigots in The Democratic Party
the “he” in the first line is suppose to be hope. LOL
Morning Olivia!!!!!
I had been wondering what you were getting up too since we haven’t seen you for a bit. π
Thank you!!! My life is always hectic but lately it is even more so. LOL But I enjoy the fast pace and the har4d work will pay off in November.
Will peek back in later in the day, hopefully…
I hope it cools off soon for you. I remember living in SF and the only time we had heat waves was when I decided to paint. LOL
Hope everybody is looking forward to a fine weekend.
And I especially hope, Ask, that you are going to bring us back my wonderful pictures.
It’s much cooler here but the humidity must be 99% because it’s not raining and I came back from my walk drenched.
Hi Miss Andi!!! I will even try to remember my camera for my seminar and take some pictures there. LOL
That’ll be fun but I have to admit I’d rather have pics of the Diva Dogs.
LOL I will try and get some soon for you. I know I am slack when it comes to taking pictures. It comes from not having a camera for years.
Got a busy day or an easy one to go w/ your cooler weather — although that humidity is awful.
I think the humidity will lessen as the day goes on and the weekend looks really nice.
I hope it gets cooler here. Still no electricity (or water)…and today’s claim from the power company is that it will be on at 11 PM tonight. I’m wondering how they plan to remove this tree in the dark…
Sigh.
Damn!!!! I guess they will work by flashlight. LOL
I just wish they’d get started on it…it’s been 3 days. I even had to take all the food in my freezer to a friend’s house to keep it from going bad.
Sorry about the continuing power problems. π
I’m assuming you’ll want to forgo doing cafes today.
I’m not sure where we’re hanging out today, so if everyone else can keep an eye on things in the cafe, that would be great.
I’ll be around all day so it’s no problem. If FM shows up, I’ll enlist his help too.
Off. That looks bad – in your immediate neighborhood?
It’s 7 houses up the road from mine. And it’s been like that since Tuesday night.
I guess we should just be glad it didn’t fall on our house or something.
Glad the house wasn’t hit but I can understand your frustration.
Will try, Andi.
PC access will be very limited, though, once we leave Oslo.
to see the pictures till you get back. It’ll give something very nice to look forward to.
Have a great trip.
I hope your vacation is a fantastic one!!!!! I am looking forward to the pictures also.
I tossed and turned all night uncomfortably, asthma flaring up, lungs feeling like they’re on fire which experience tells me will be bronchitis.

ROTFLMAO!!!! at the interpertive dance sequence. That must have been one hell of a night mare. I hope you feel better and get some good sleep soon.
Hope folks can indeed stay cool today. We’re heading for record highs in the 100s for the next two days and we are so not used to that. It’s hot here. Tonight the family goes out to rally.
Not much else.
Bring your FRT lists over here.
