I’ve been thinking of doing that exact thing with the pond out back. Since I have the trees around it, it would show up nicely with the changing of season.
That would be beautiful!!! There is a site where you can have your prints custom matted and framed. I posted it last night for olivia but I thought you might be interested also.
LOL It is far from spotless. I have quite a bit of work left to do. I revise my estimate on time it will take from all weekend to all week every night after work or after the meetings. I might have it finished by next weekend as long as there are not too many meetings this week.
Judging by the “recent comments,” it looks like all you nice Froggies have gone off to start your Sunday’s in the Country. But I’ll say hi anyway… Just in case anyone happens by!
Hi!!!!
Happy Sunday Morning (going on afternoon already for some of you), Froggies! Here are some photos from the Director’s Retreat I attended last week with my new boss and fellow staff members.
It was a sort of fake Italian villa type place, but very nice.
With duckies….
…and lots of beautiful flowers.
And… BTW….. What that was….
Two forks balanced on a toothpick balanced on the edge of a wine glass.
Maybe that should be our mascot for the Random 10 diaries…get a copy to CG!
Afternoon folks — packed the spouse (and the food closet/homeless drop-in goodies) to church; I stayed home with, errrr, “female trouble” so as not to disturb the sensibilities of our male inhabitants. Also enjoying the peace and quiet, which will probably be departing soon since he’s due home shortly.
Trying to decide what to tackle first — the dining room (I’ve received permission to ditch any magazines that are not railroad or Civil War related; those are the spouse’s two big hobbies) or put away the rest of the laundry so we can start more later. Tempted to do the dining room; I’d rather put away laundry when he’s here to help me, and if I can get the dining room cleaned up I can actually eat at the dining table sometime this week. 🙂
It’s a little after 9am Monday morning. For all of you needing releaf from the heat, it’s a balmy 45F INSIDE the house this morning.
At about 5:30am Luna started in with the little barks she make when she wants attention. When I went outside to see what the matter was, everything, including the dog, had a layer of frost on it. Right now she’s still alseep on the couch, apparently recoving from a miserable night outside (in a big fur coat).
I’m surprised at Luna wanting to come in — our malamutt loves to sleep outside when it’s cold. She especially likes it when there’s enough snow for her to make a deep nest in it.
But my sympathies to you on the 45 inside the house. Talk about a cold, cruel world.
Luna’s certainly the most “precious” Pyrenean I’ve ever had. The others certainly didn’t mind snow or sub-freezing temperatures. Luna’s cut-off seems to be freezing. I think it’s the combination of cold and damp that gets to her, and who can blame her. Where I’ve lived before the colder it got, the dryer it got.
Imogen and I were too lazy to set the fire again last night, after it went out around 10pm. So we have no one to blame but outselves. If I can keep the fire in most of the night it’s more likely to be around 55 degrees when we get up. Our house gets a lot of sun, so now I’m just waiting for it to do its job.
Our next place (which we hope to build someday) will have lot of passive solar features.
I have to make a run to Hobart today, so we’ll go for a walk along the foreshore reserve and we’ll parade around downtown for a bit so she can schmooze and get lots of attention.
yeah, the churches had been successful in keeping one out of NC for the past 20 years, but the governor finally went around them and right-wing legislators somehow. I imagine you guys have even more churches down there.
We had grilled chicken marinated w/ olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, tarragon, parsley all from the garden. Plus new potatoes w/ garlic chives, and red and yellow tomatoes w/ olive oil, garlic, fresh basil, feta (goat) … plus strawberries and vanilla ice cream, and a couple extra scoops of coffee ice cream. 🙂
As a fellow Power Ball investor, I understand the multi-state lottery as a retirement plan. Unfortunately we are both still working. School begins on the 15th. How was your trip to the North Country?
Powerball isn’t much of a retirement plan but it makes for nice dreams 🙂
North country was nice and COOL. It was hell to come back to 100 degree weather. Although it cooled down to low 90’s today and last night was actually not too bad.
We went cheap laptop hunting because we found out she doesn’t have a computer and she’s starting college in a few weeks. We got her a good deal on a refurbished one from Tiger Direct.
And then of course there was a nap, and dinner at the noodle house.
see above response to Jim — it was great and a lot cooler than here.
I don’t know how many pictures were taken, I’ll check with my parents – they aren’t home yet. When you go to the same place each year you start to get tired of taking the same picture every year. And for some reason we didn’t have as many wildlife photo opportunities this year — they were all hiding from us. I say “we” but you know I don’t include myself 🙂
I bought some Italian flashcares and my sister and I practiced while we sat on the dock sunning. When I left I said “Arrividerci il lago.”
I’ll see what I can do about pictures.
And I’ll e-mail you this week about Saturday.
BTW, did kansas get a new e-mail address? I read her book over vacation and I sent her an e-mail to tell her how much I liked it, but it came back undeliverable.
I always sound good on line, in person not so much. I’m considering only using text messaging while I’m in italy. Of course, I’ll still have to figure out how to ask the Italian person for his phone number in order to text message …
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a candidates campaign contact me to edit part of the Mary Beth Harrell & The Band of Brothers for them to use on their site. I was glad to do it as I know the candidate and am supporting him also. LOL There are very few Texas candidates I have not met or heard at one meeting or another.
It seems the show is helping my candidates cause they are getting donations from out of state now and that is a big thing. I keep asking people in Bklue states to give part to their candidates and help fund candidates who stand a chance of winning but need extra Love(money). LOL
Hey Frog Ponders! How is your Saturday night? I’m relaxing after a day of volunteering in CT and a run that reminded me that I’m still out of shape.
You are running too? Man, Liberman has no chance ! 🙂
Good Luck with the canvassing!!!! I am hoping Lamont not only wins the primary but hands Loserman his ass so that he doesn’t run as an independent.
The overnight crowd left the place so clean, all we had to do was a quick sweep up.
Morning Miss Andi!!!! I take it you will be adding a neautiful picture to the header in a few. LOL
I already changed the picture from the neon sign to the camp’s lake. Are you not seeing it, something is wrong because I can.
It says picture moved or removed. Not showing at all on mine just the photobucket warning. LOL
Same with me.
Yep sure do and it’s a great picture. I was kind of liking that moved or deleted sign though. 🙂
to go back and forth as froggybottom over dial-up so you’ll just have to live with the lake picture. 😛
And it’s a picture I easily live with. 🙂
Yes and it is beautiful!!!!!
better than the sign (so there, FM).
I think it might be fun to take that identical shot in fall, winter, and spring — if only I can remember to do it.
I’ve been thinking of doing that exact thing with the pond out back. Since I have the trees around it, it would show up nicely with the changing of season.
Then again, there’s only two seasons down here.
is that a cement pond? LOL
Nope. The cement pond doesn’t get here until Cudin Refinish wins the lottery. 😛
ROTFLMAO!!!!
You could do it both at different times of day during different months. It would make a wonderful “history of a place”.
That’s a good idea. Now if I can just remember to do it and set up a schedule. Beginning to sound like work. 🙂
That would be beautiful!!! There is a site where you can have your prints custom matted and framed. I posted it last night for olivia but I thought you might be interested also.
http://www.imagekind.com/
Thanks for the link. Now all I need is some actual wallspace on which to hang ’em (a problem with post and beam construction).
You are welcome. I always try and share great finds like this. I think Olivia should set up a shop there and sell her photos and you should also.
Morning Andi and Refinish.
I can’t see the picture either.
Morning FamilyMan!!!!
How’re you doing today? How does it feel to be living in a spotless house? 🙂
LOL It is far from spotless. I have quite a bit of work left to do. I revise my estimate on time it will take from all weekend to all week every night after work or after the meetings. I might have it finished by next weekend as long as there are not too many meetings this week.
I find when I’m cleaning I usually move a pile of stuff to another place and call it clean. That original pile is starting to get large. 🙂
LOL I am just as bad. I actually found a carton of cigs in a pile that had been in one place for the last 2 months. LOL
That’s one of the great things about pile cleaning/moving. You find surpirses, some good and some not. 🙂
well so far only good things have been found but I am not through cleaning yet. LOL
When my kids were small I can’t say I always found good things in the piles. It’s much easier when they are your piles and no one elses. 🙂
LOL I bet!!!
I am going to Mcdonalds to pick up some breakfast as there is no food in the house. LOL I guess I have to add grocery shopping to the list for today.
McDonalds for breakfast. Oh Refinish! Get you some groceries in that house.
ROTFLMAO!!! It was either Mcdonalds or take a shower and go to Dennys or the Raddison for brunch and I don’t have time to eat out today.
Well you are a busy individual. Maybe one day they’ll make a nutrition pill and you won’t even have to worry about chewing.
Now if it was myself, I’d take the time to sit back and enjoy. But such is the way of the slacker. 🙂

I see I’ve missed you by a mere 6 hours. But I’m always glad to see that you’ve stopped by — the great photos are a nice bonus.
I like the fiddlin’ froggy.
I hope the nymph isn’t draping herself in poison ivy.
The orange flower looks like it is erupting.
Hi MM. I love everyone of the pictures. The frog I think the best though.
Maybe that should be our mascot for the Random 10 diaries…get a copy to CG!

Okay, back to work…
It’s a little after 9am Monday morning. For all of you needing releaf from the heat, it’s a balmy 45F INSIDE the house this morning.

colder/dryer is definitely the way it is here — blasts of very dry, arctic air.
Sure Andi, you’ve got to rub it in don’t you. 🙂
When winter rolls around and we are greeted with a delightful Alberta clipper, I’ll be sure to try to direct it your way.
Hello keres. Send some of the cool weather this way.
Poor Luna. I’m sure you’ll pamper her all day.
Yep, one pampered pup.
I have to make a run to Hobart today, so we’ll go for a walk along the foreshore reserve and we’ll parade around downtown for a bit so she can schmooze and get lots of attention.
She’s such a Diva in public.
She knows she has you trained. 😉
Of course she does.
Every animal I’ve ever had would tell you that I’m very trainable.
Girlfriends, on the other hand . . .
Hah I’ve never been trainable. Usually after I get through doing everything I’m told to do, I tell em no more, I done for…… the day.
Hi to whoever is here. Andi? FM?
Geeze I just got back. Hi Mary. I’ve missed you.
How’re ya doing?
I’m as good as can be expected after coming back from vacation. Some day I’m gonna win that lottery and be on perpetual vacation …
How are you? How hot is it down there?
It’s hot. Hope you had a good time.
If I win the lottery I’ll send you on a perpetual vacation. Of course we have to get a lottery down here first.
that you would take care of me. Thanks FM 🙂
I figure when I get a billion, I can spare a paltry million or two.
It’s on its way to you, FM. NC just got a lottery two months ago.
I wish. Bama will be the last hold out of non-lotteryhood.
yeah, the churches had been successful in keeping one out of NC for the past 20 years, but the governor finally went around them and right-wing legislators somehow. I imagine you guys have even more churches down there.
do you still have Sunday blue laws?
Not sure if they’re on the books, but many many businessess are closed on Sunday.
North carolina got rid of blue laws when I was a kid growing up there.
Hi Refinish. How’re ya doing this afternoon?
Doing Great!!!!! I will not say what I had for dinner as you would give me more hell for not going grocery shopping. LOL
Oh that’s OK about dinner. I had a big bowl of ice cream. 🙂
Just wanting to make sure Refinish takes care of himself.
Ice cream for dinner … 🙂
Hi Olivia. Yep a giant bowl tonight. I felt my cholesterol dropping and had to get it back in line. 🙂
Triple chocolate.
What nutritious thing did you have tonight?
I love Edy’s Slow Churned french silk ice cream. Half the fat. But I’m not sure half the fat of what….probably 4# of buttered bacon.
I don’t think I’ve ever hear of that. They probably have it in the city, but it would melt before I got back home. 🙁
Bring a cooler.
We had grilled chicken marinated w/ olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, tarragon, parsley all from the garden. Plus new potatoes w/ garlic chives, and red and yellow tomatoes w/ olive oil, garlic, fresh basil, feta (goat) … plus strawberries and vanilla ice cream, and a couple extra scoops of coffee ice cream. 🙂
I want care packages from your house. That sound really good.
I’m going to have to give you the Refinish lecture. Get some groceries in that house.
Then again, I have to teach you slackerly cooking. 🙂
Do you bring some for the rest of us?
I try most times. LOL
I know you do. I wouldn’t give you a hard time unless I like you. 🙂
Now get some groceries.
One on ever corner.
Are the F’s still good for lunch next weekend?
Good golly Miss Molly – er Mary. Haven’t seen you in these parts in a while.
yeah it’s been a while.
What’s up with you? Did you do your beach vacation yet?
I haven’t been to our beach yet this summer, but I had a couple days on Ocracoke Island with Cabin Girl and her kids.
You’re getting meet all the Bookids this summer. We might have to make you Boodenmother.
The really sad thing is that I actually look like a den mother these days. Sigh.
What snu with you?
that a lot of men find den mothers sexy. So, it may be a look that suits you 🙂
She’s in a college town. She could make it sugar mamaville.
Hi SN. It’s time to celebrate. Mary is home.
I’m jumping for joy and doing backflips. Well as much as I can while sitting in my chair.
How’re you doing tonight?
I am fine and dandy. Eating popcorn and reading, mostly.
Popcorn? No chocolate frosting?
Remember I used to be quiet and reserved. 🙂
Your evil was lurking awfully close to the surface, though.
I like to think of it as something learned. I see all my teachers around. 😛
veddy good, grasshopper.
I’m slow, but I pick up after awhile. 🙂
all day?
Did you go to the art museum with your niece?
We went cheap laptop hunting because we found out she doesn’t have a computer and she’s starting college in a few weeks. We got her a good deal on a refurbished one from Tiger Direct.
And then of course there was a nap, and dinner at the noodle house.
What did you have for dinner at the noodle house? Do they have bean threads (glass noodles)?
I had mongolian chicken over chewy brown rice. And edamame for an appetizer. And UNsweet tea. My niece had a tofu noodle bowl of some sort.
UNsweet tea? How did you find that down here?
Much searching has revealed the one decanter of murky unsweet tea in the South™
Someone must have snuck it over the border. I think they still have tea guards at the m-d line.
That’s next.
How was vacation?
Did you have someone with a digital camera take some pictures for you to post here?
see above response to Jim — it was great and a lot cooler than here.
You can always post pictures from some other year then — it isn’t like we’ll know (or care). We just like pictures.
We’re still okay for next weekend.
Time to start the countdown to Italy.
Wow, your accent is just perfect.
I emailed the new email address.
Yeah but I can type it as well as her. 🙂
I always sound good on line, in person not so much. I’m considering only using text messaging while I’m in italy. Of course, I’ll still have to figure out how to ask the Italian person for his phone number in order to text message …
You pick a few phrases and practice them to perfection. For example, my accent saying “Repetez s’il vous plait” is exquisite.

New cafe here.
