to mix it up around here abit. Day has been okay, procrastinated on a lot of crap I should’ve finished on my to-do list. Mañana’s another day! O:) What about your day?
but if I didn’t make them I would be in a load of trouble with all the frantic changes in duties everyday. It may be stressful at this job, but it’s never boring!
I hope your Internal Slacker Balance was restored with the long nap. I’m thinking of petitioning our Board of Directors for mandatory siestas around 2pm everyday. I’m halfway asleep already!
When I was a kid, I worked summers in hay fields for extra money. Worked for one guy that after lunch would tell everbody to take a nap. So after an hour nap we were ready to jump up again and get back to the feild. Amazeing what a nap can do for you.
Hi Manee, how are you doing, I’ve been missing you…
Diva has been doing well, except for a frantic call when she tried to do her first laundry in her new place with a laundry room, so hard to explain to her without being able to see it, but I figured out at first she was standing in front of a ‘change machine’ thinking that was the washing machine and wondering where to put the clothes, then she feared the dryer and wouldn’t even try it. She said in Baghdad all they do is put clothes outside for 5 min and they are dry.
I spoke to her on Sunday, was glad she finally gave me a call on her new phone. I can’t imagine what it’s like learning how to do everyday tasks in a new way in a new environment. Regarding the dryer, if she decides to use one, she should be warned about cotton shrinking. Hmmm, I’ll have to give her a ring this week to check in.
Albert had two more teeth pulled on Monday. We hope that that will be his last dentistry for a long time.
So he’s a bit hung over from the surgery, again. I’ve got a heater on in his room to help him stay comfy. I, on the otherhand am sitting in a very cold (12C/53F)room because we are low on firewood again.
It’s up to 13C/55F. Down-right balmy. Luna has moved into the shade it’s so hot. 😉
Alberts doing a quick sweep of the floor to see if I dropped anything edible (cheese is his favorite – which always makes me think of “Hutch” in Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Wererabbit), so he must be feeling better.
Oh you have to see Curse of the Wererabbit it’s wonderfully clever and the best Wallace and Gromit ever – which is really saying something.
Hie thee to a video store and watch it!
Oh, and age has nothing to do with it. We have a huge collection of “kids films” and no kids. I can watch Lilo and Stich or Chicken Run over and over, and they set just the right tone after a tiring or difficult day.
Yeah I’ve got chicken run and babe and a few other at the house. I loved it when my kids were small. I would look forward to the kids movies more than them sometimes.
It’s up to 13C/55F. Down-right balmy. Luna has moved into the shade it’s so hot. 😉

thanks again for the local protest info here in Tucson. I actually saw them a couple of weeks ago and wondered which group they were from, good to know that they’re linked up with the larger networks. I plan to start doing something regularly. ((((Janet))))
Tomorrow is Mr. Damnit’s 48th his new hockey team is surprising him tonight after the game. They even got him a CAKE! 🙂 It’s nice to have such a great community around us now.
Sorry, but I’ve been tearing up alot. Crying, dumbstruck, happy, shocked.
Today at the store, a black van screeched parked opposite me and the kids and three men got out. In suits… they started towards my car… and PARANOIA hit me HARD… I was actually frightened for a minute. I begin to think… what about my kids if they take me… WTF??? I know I’m paranoid… but I never thought that amount of knee knockdown fear would hit me like that… over politics.
One pulled out papers from his jacket and they just passed me and went into a paycheck cash store.
But Im still wondering.. what will we do when they do come for us?
Long, but at least it’s over. Funny how in my last week of work, I suddenly got a ton of shit dumped on me. It kind of sucks. The good thing is that by Friday at 5 PM, I won’t give a damn one way or another.
That’s the way it usually is at offices you’re leaving. It’s almost like people save thing us just to make the last week more enjoyable. Of course the enjoyable is for them.
It definitely wasn’t intentional; in fact, before today heated up, I was worried I’d be doing a whole lotta nothing. Now, I’m pretty sure I have a fairly full plate until the end of the week.
Sounds like my last staff meeting before the contract I was on in July ended. I announced that we had some code work that needed to be incorporated into the main product on Friday and it had to pass a bunch of tests before it could be submitted. Then I announced that if it didn’t pass on Friday, I was out of there and I wouldn’t care any more.
Heh, lucky you. I’m the main point person on this one potential investment, so I have to put together a report basically outlining the entire thing. It kinda sucks, since they only got me the information I needed today (my email didn’t receive the others).
And with the other opportunity, they’re looking to close by the end of the week – and they gave us 200 documents to look through. Not cool at all.
Here is the boy under the banner declaring that 69% of the UNCP students drink 0 to 4 drinks when they drink. I guess this is something to brag about? :/
I’ve warned him about the ‘freshman 15’ but as it turns out he has a formerly skinny friend who gained a freshman 40 last year so he is well aware of what a steady diet of french fries and chicken fingers does to you.
There were 3,000 of us who? The 12,000 square dancers I believe. I went to the National SD convention while I was in college. I don’t know how many people were there, but there were a lot.
Actually back in my college days any chance for a shy guy like me to meet with girls or even — gasp! — dance with them was a Good Thing. Then when you consider that I play the banjo by choice, you might think I was actually on the road to meeting girls I might want to meet.
Amateurs. When national magazines rate alcohol consumption at various campuses across the country, they completely disqualify Washington State University and the University of Idaho (which are within a few miles of each other) on the grounds that professional drinking schools are not allowed.
surveys are only filled out by the students who stay in the dorms during the weekend nights, can you imagine the real results? :-X
Seriously though, take heart to know that he will miss you just as much as you’ll miss him. He may or may not tell you, but he’ll be homesick for a long time. I’ve been out of the house for eight years now and still get the urge to drive home for dinner after I get off work. While the food is incentive, it’s the company that matters.
you see, he’s already showing you his appreciation. Things are going to be different, obviously, but the love is something that remains strong. Small note of advice, take the time to write to him via snail mail every once in awhile, it’s great to receive something in the mailbox that doesn’t involve a credit card application. Emails are good, but they’re easily lost/deleted. I still have the paper letters I got from friends and family when I moved away from home, they help as a pick-me-up when I go through my what-the-hell-am-i-gonna-do-with-my-life moments.
Hey O! Couldn’t resist, despite previous GBC-FBL statement (LOL) and now diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome with remedy of wrist splints making it oh so hard to type!
Nope, AndiF. The new part-time job is swallowing up my life with out of town conferences, meetings, and retreats! However, overall, it’s a great job so you gotta take the good with the bad, wouldn’t you agree?

thx for your kind words, those diaries were an outstanding display of humanity from each of the participants and commenters. We still have one diary left on Nepal. I’ll probably be writing it up sometime this week, then I’ll do a final follow-up diary tying all ten threads together.

Hi Manny. Great sign up top.
How’s the day gone for you?
to mix it up around here abit. Day has been okay, procrastinated on a lot of crap I should’ve finished on my to-do list. Mañana’s another day! O:) What about your day?
Don’t you hate to-do lists. Before I retired I used to live by them. Heck I would even go to sleep thinking about to-do list.
Been a very slow day for me. Over did it in the yard this morning, so I took a very long nap today.
Oh and happy happy. Relatives are back. 🙂
but if I didn’t make them I would be in a load of trouble with all the frantic changes in duties everyday. It may be stressful at this job, but it’s never boring!

I will take over-doing in the lawn vs. a stressful day any time. Keeping busy, no.
Hi Manee, how are you doing, I’ve been missing you…

Hope you’re doing good!
Frantic, Wait for the phone call when it gets down to 32 degrees in a couple of months or when they have freezing rain.
It’s good she has someone she can call about all this. I shudder to think of someone without any help.
Hi all.
It’s my first day off since the Tasmanian Greens conference and AGM this last weekend.
So, I’m vacuuming the floor and cleaning spam out of my email.
And stopping by the FBC, of course.
Hi keres. Vacuuming sound like fun.
How’s Albert been doing?
Albert had two more teeth pulled on Monday. We hope that that will be his last dentistry for a long time.
So he’s a bit hung over from the surgery, again. I’ve got a heater on in his room to help him stay comfy. I, on the otherhand am sitting in a very cold (12C/53F)room because we are low on firewood again.
oooooooooh poor little dude. I hope it’s his last time in the dentist ‘chair’. Take care Keres!
He has to go back in a month to have another x-ray, just to make sure they got all the roots and none of the teeth have started growing back.
I hope Albert gets to feeling better, but keres it sounds cold there. Get some wood! 🙂
I’ll prpbably use the chain saw to cut up some later today. It needs sharpening first.
It’s always somethin’.
I grew up on a farm. I know what you’re talking about.
I haven’t seen that one, but even at my age I love movies like that.
I’ll be so happy when we get back down to 55F. Heck I’d be happy for 75F. 🙂
Oh you have to see Curse of the Wererabbit it’s wonderfully clever and the best Wallace and Gromit ever – which is really saying something.

gonna head home now from the dungeon.
Take care beautiful friend.

Happy B’day to Mr. Dammit and you take care of yourself Janet.
Family Man 🙂 Thanks. I gotta get some ice cream. 🙂
Bring some for me.
Of course since I’m not there you’ll have to eat it for me too.
Good evening folks. How goes it in the Frog Pond?
Hello Psi. How’s your day gone?

For me today its been pretty slackerly.
It’s always a slacking day for you, FM. 😛
It definitely wasn’t intentional; in fact, before today heated up, I was worried I’d be doing a whole lotta nothing. Now, I’m pretty sure I have a fairly full plate until the end of the week.
Hey would I be FM without slacking. Anyway someone has to keep standards. 🙂

Hi SN. Have you been crying all day?
I thought it was a prerequisite to down a six pack in 30 seconds or less when you started college. 🙂
I have only been crying 1/3 of the day, FM. 🙂
Only 1/3? I’m proud of you. 🙂
Just remember, this December you’ll be visited by a jolly bearded guy with a pack slung across his back.
It’ll be your son bringing his laundry home from school.
.
It’s funny. Laugh. 🙂
I’ve warned him about the ‘freshman 15’ but as it turns out he has a formerly skinny friend who gained a freshman 40 last year so he is well aware of what a steady diet of french fries and chicken fingers does to you.
Tell him to take up square dance. I did in my sophomore year and actually lost about 15 pounds.
Unfortunately I gained it all back and then some.
Was square dancing some natural form of birth control in college? I can’t imagine it had girls swarming all over you. 🙂
Not to say much..but I was at this convention in San Antonio this summer and there 3,000 of us and 12,000 (+) square dancers. HMMMM…
There were 3,000 of us who? The 12,000 square dancers I believe. I went to the National SD convention while I was in college. I don’t know how many people were there, but there were a lot.

Chicken and fries? I always thought it was beer. 🙂
Am I the only one who thinks beer tastes like ear wax? ANd don’t ask me how I know what ear wax tastes like. It goes waaaaay back.
I wouldn’t dare ask. See we can have a clean cafe. 😛
who hated dorm food so much, she at chicken a la king made in a popcorn popper for an entire year.
I think he’ll live on microwave popcorn and string cheese.
of burgers and fries.

Aw, thanks, Manny. That helps alot. He did leave me a lovely note on my computer which made me cry.

Great idea, Manny. It’s so easy to get lazy emailing all the time. I know he’ll love getting real mail once in awhile.
Y’all sure have a funny way of going about it.
Hi Omir. This has been a very clean cafe so far tongiht.
Something must be wrong. 🙂
Here ya go:
Oh no! The notorious mud picture. :~)
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood . . .
it’s supposed to be ice cream!!! 🙁
Andi I’ve looked. I can’t find ice cream wrestling.
I can see a new Olympic sport coming around.
Talk about an ice cream headache. I wonder what part would freeze first? And what flavor of ice cream would you choose, FM?
I’m a pretty simple guy. Vanilla would do. Wouldn’t want to waste the good stuff of the outside of the body. 😛
C’mon FM!
If you can show me a big pit filled with ice cream, I’ll jump in. 🙂
🙂
not as good as ice cream wrestling, though
Seems like forever since I talked w/ ya … 😉
I believe we just talked yesterday — you know, when you gave me the flower to put up. 🙂
That’s what the wink was for … 🙂
than to tease an old geezer — it’s cruel, like kicking a kitten. It’s only supposed to work that old geezer tease young’uns. 😛
You are so not an old geezer … 🙂
that I’m heading off to bed.
Nighty-night.
I’m waiting to see you and Olivia ice cream wrestle.
… we can always count on O to save the day! (Don’t have a clue WTF you all are talking about.)
It’s superduperwonderful to see you!!!
Hey O! Couldn’t resist, despite previous GBC-FBL statement (LOL) and now diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome with remedy of wrist splints making it oh so hard to type!
Have you been to the wonderful flower market to take any new pictures?
Nope, AndiF. The new part-time job is swallowing up my life with out of town conferences, meetings, and retreats! However, overall, it’s a great job so you gotta take the good with the bad, wouldn’t you agree?
Yep, if the job is a good one, it’s not so hard to put up with a few downsides. And I’m glad this one is working out so well.
Well, bed time for me. See ya next time.
Hi MM. Great to see you.
Hugs and kisses, FM. Keep ‘um nappin’ ‘n’ slackin’ baby! Where would we be without you?
Join the club, I started this particular thread and I don’t have any idea what we’re talking about either. But the talking is fun and better than arguing about which Republicans rate highest on the suck-o-meter.
Now I don’t feel so bad! (Penguins, penguins!)
Penguins! Now we’re talkin’!
Night everybody. I’m geezering out early tonight.
Have a good night in the pond.
have a slackerly sleep!
Manny -just slipping in here to let you know how much I have appreciated the UN:10 stories. Thank you for initiating and coordinating the effort.
Also wanted to let you know that I was away at the posting of your diary on the children in prison, but read it. Thank you.
My dream team for children is Jim Henson and Mr. Fred Rogers – I miss those guys. A toast to those who truly see and nourish the good within.
thx for your kind words, those diaries were an outstanding display of humanity from each of the participants and commenters. We still have one diary left on Nepal. I’ll probably be writing it up sometime this week, then I’ll do a final follow-up diary tying all ten threads together.

Going to bed this early? A true sign of age. 😛
you know what that means – come on over to the new lounge.
