Oh my GAWD:
A Colorado prosecutor now confirms a suspect is under arrest in the killing of Jon Benet Ramsey. A man arrested in Thailand is being held in connection with the slaying of Jon Benet Ramsey, U.S. law enforcement officials said Wednesday.
Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacey says the suspect is being held in Thailand, and that the arrest is the culmination of several months of work. But Lacey won’t give any details about the suspect until a news conference scheduled for tomorrow.
Federal officials familiar with the case say the man is in custody in Bangkok on unrelated sex charges, and that Colorado law enforcement officials are flying there. A family attorney says the 41-year-old suspect is a school teacher.
O.J. Simpson, Richard Jewell, Gary Condit, Wen Ho Lee, Bill Clinton, John Ramsey must be so relieved. Unfortunately, his wife Patsy passed away last year and did not live to see her name vindicated.
Wait? Maybe O.J. was over in Thailand?!!
A former CU prof was at one time a suspect.
Not Ward Churchill :0
Nope. A Journalism prof! The former dean, I believe.
…that you’re still covering important news, Booman. 😛
dude, so is Joe Scarborough…
Even Keith did, and seriously too.
Heh.
John Ramsey said in his statement that Patsy knew of this suspect before her death, so that’s something.
Do you think Nancy Grace is covering this?
Judging by the number of times Nancy Grace seems to have breaking news alerts for things that happened weeks ago, I’m guessing she spend most of September covering every detail.
I always thought that it was an amazing leap in logic for the public to infer the parents’ guilt as to cold-blooded child murder based on their participation in silly pageants, especially in the absence of any physical evidence or any prior allegations of physical abuse.
It is very easy to regard the pageants as creepy, but I’m sure that the participants don’t experience it that way. For the kids and their doting parents, it is likely just a game of dressing up and being the center of attention.
There is always something in the accused’s background or personality that can made to look creepy and unnatural. There are more wrongful accusations, arrests, prosecutions, and convictions than we might care to admit and (in my experience as an appellate public defender), the danger of a miscarriage of justice increases dramatically when the victim is a child.
Come on guys, we’re not due for a real honest-to-God ’90s revival for another 15 years or so. The 20-year nostalgia cycle cannot abide such an early return to the era of Court TV.
I personally could go with parts of an ’86 revival, like the part where we hand an incumbent Republican president his own ass by thumping the midterms.
hey, I long for the days of August 2001 when Gary Condit dominated the news…when it wasn’t all apocalypse all the time….
