Continuing with the theme of right-wing fantasies of violence, Mike at Pundit Guy has an opinion on the alleged killer of Jon-Benet Ramsey.
Authorities sat John Mark Karr in Business Class on a flight from Thailand to Los Angeles, fed him king prawns and filled his glass with champagne.
Legal experts (uh-huh) call it a brilliant move tailor made to relax Karr and get him talking.
I could have gotten him talking.
If it were me in charge of accompanying Mr. Karr back from Thailand,
I would have stripped him naked, tied him up and put him down in the
cargo hold. Only for six hours or so of course. Then I’d bring him up
for around fifteen minutes or so of good ol’ fashioned American style
torture. Only fifteen minutes though, then it would have been right
back down in the hold for the remainder of the flight. With the lights
off.But that’s just me.
‘Good ol’ fashioned American style torture’. That is what George W. Bush has bequeathed to the American people. His most ardent supporters are not only unapologetic about our reputation for torturing people, they actually celebrate it and fantasize about participating in it.
If I were a little more radical I might advocate jailing people that celebrate and advocate torture. It certainly wouldn’t be as extreme as Mike’s policies for treating criminal suspects that are in police custody.
Regardless, it’s depressing to see the cable news networks devoting the majority of their coverage this morning to the question of whether it is appropriate to feed alleged child killers prawns and champagne.
