all my friends were of foreign origin. One day my mom asked in utter exasperation, after trying to pronounce a new Korean girl’s name, “Don’t you have any American friends?”
Tonight I looked at my menu for the last week- Moroccan chicken, African stew with groundnuts, a five course French meal, enchiladas and Ginger beef. I asked myself, “Don’t you know any American recipes?”
You know what? They are all American, too. That- not the flag waving, not the tailgate stickers, not the blind patriotism we see- is what America IS. We have something that goes to the heart of being human, across all borders and spices.

Here’s a little something that I’ve been working on lately.
I love tacos.
I could use a few. Actually I could easily get some if I wanted to walk two blocks to the closest taco place, but I just fixed my grill yesterday and I’m still having fun charring stuff.

everybody. I just finished a Yahoo AP article entitled, “Pentagon Moves Toward Monitoring Media” Has anyone else read that? I believe it was in the politics section, but I’m not sure.
