MONTH ONE
September 1, 2006. Teams of Republican hacks buy off an American Broadcasting Corporation and take control of the programming. Bloggers and professional historians quickly learn something is terribly wrong…
September 11, 2001. On a similarly ordinary day, New York is stunned by a deadly bombing at the World Trade Center. The discovery of a leverageable sympathy factor at the site leads to the linking of Osama bin Laden to Saddam Hussein, by the Bush administration, a group of radical cynics. A valuable FBI translator named Sybil Edmonds is quelched as she attempts to point out the incompetency of the FBI under the Bush administration. A manhunt for the elusive Osama bin Laden ensues, and he is allowed to escape capture at Tora Bora, which is linked to an administration engineered invasion of Iraq. Donald Rumsfeld sends overwhelming air power to Iraq for an innovative “shock and awe campaign” as a prelude to the Iraqi’s welcoming American conquerors with open arms and flowers.
Saddam is finally brought down, months after President Bush, in a flight suit, declares Mission Accomplished aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Saddam’s trial drags on, as he is replaced by thousands of rebels not necessarily answering to Osama bin Laden.
In 2004, film documentarian Michael Moore’s film Fahrenheit 9/11 is released and Rove and others in Washington are alarmed that the truth of the Bush administration’s incompetence is leaked to the nation. CIA undercover agent Valerie Plame and her husband Joe Wilson, present evidence of treasonous behavior by the Bush administration, which in turn concocts a plan to out the agent and seek revenge. The plan is never disapproved, but the consequent impending conviction of two White House aides causes the administration to devalue the treasonous act as an accidental declassification problem. Random elevations of the new Homeland security terror threat levels seek to provide evidence to American citizens that Muslim extremists are bringing their holy war to America.
MONTH TWO
The February 2006, tanking of the president’s polls sends Rove and his team scrambling, as he runs afoul of a US special prosecutor, who nearly has Rove brought up on charges of perjury. The investigation into Rove stalls and the White House is far from confident without him on the attack.
Throughout 2006, fears and warnings about bin Laden are downplayed by the administration as England discovers that some suspicious individuals are contemplating mixing liquid explosives aboard aircrafts. Rove kicks butt as airline passengers are denied bottled water, lip gloss, toothpaste, and hair gel. Al Qaeda terrorists, under their breath, continue to laugh their asses off.
Bush, his presidency reinvigorated by the incident and tired of bureaucracy, in rapidfire succession admits that 9/11 has nothing to do with Iraq, and acknowledges the existence of CIA prisons throughout the world. Shortly thereafter, the hijacked broadcasting company literally assassinates former president Bill Clinton, promoting the fabrication that he refused to go after bin Laden to millions of American television viewers. A few days later comes the anniversary of September 11, and Rove lies bravely, along with thousands of other Republicans that the president’s illegal and unconstitutional behavior merit forgiveness, as he had devoted his career to thwarting Al Qaeda, and cleaning up the mess of the Clinton administration.
In the aftermath, “The Path to 9/11”, it is felt, was produced to muddy the events leading up to the fateful election Day, and galvanize opinions against Islamo Fascist sympathizing Democrats.
