I am going to stop looking for Usama bin-Laden and watch some football. UBL’s trail has gone stone cold anyway, so I might as well take a break.
The real game this week is the Colts-Giants Manning Bowl tonight. As for the Eagles, as always, I hope they lose. I also hope rookie Reggie Bush gives the people of Louisiana something to cheer about.
What’s your team’s prospects?
You must be from North Jersey, then.
I’m watching the Eagles game today…that’ll be my relaxation for the week.
Is there a south jersey?
Having lived there, I can say that there is, or was, at least in some sense of the word.
sure, it’s called Philly
My team lost an important defensive starter for the season last week when he drunkenly charged a cop and got shot multiple times. Add in an untested QB and pathetic secondary, and it doesn’t look that great.
And my backup team is New Orleans, which has one of the weakest defenses I can ever remember. I don’t plan on spending too much time on pro football this year. Alabama also doesn’t look that strong in the SEC, though I will watch or listen to every game regardless of how bad it gets.
as my Frog Marchers QB — so he’d better not suck.
Just got home from church/brunch, so need to hit ESPN for the morning games results. And need to plan my day for tomorrow — pretty much avoiding any over-the-air channel and all cable news outlets for most of the day; I don’t need a repeat of 5 years ago — it’s still fresh in my memory.
My team is the Packers – they are playing da Bears today. Enough said!!
I’m from Detroit, where the football motto is “Just wait til next year.”
Well, looks like they got off to a good start on it. I don’t want to rip on the Lions, but the Seahawks really should have done better than a 9-6 win.
By the way, I think I will just ignore the Seahawks again this year. It worked pretty well last year up until the point where I started paying attention to them, when they lost in their last game of the season.
And the Saints!
The Charges because they’re my hometown team, the Saints because the Chargers traded Drew Brees to them (I heart Drew Brees), because they have So. Cal. sensation Reggie Bush, and…well, just because it’s New Orleans, dammit.
GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I must say I was pleased with McNabb’s play for my fantasy squad. Larry Johnson didn’t do jack shit. Shockey’ll put me well over the top for a big W this week.
You wish you had Shockey. But you do have Reggie Wayne.
Steve Smith didn’t play and screwed me.
So how did that Giants vs. Colts game work out for you?
About how I expected. What I took away from it is that the NY Giants are better than they have been in fifteen years and that they will probably simply stomp any team they get a lead on. I’ve never seen a more dominant running game. And no one even got close to Eli the whole game. Just amazing.
The defense was excellent considering who there were playing. They need to come together more as a unit, since they have never played together before.
The Eagles looked godawful putrid until the second half. And even then, their offense sucks. You can’t give the ball to Westbrook 70% of the time. He’ll get hurt.
The Gmen are 1-0! They beat themselves! Unfortunately, the other team involved, the Colts, will get the credit.
3 dropped INTs. Peyton didn’t play well, Eli looked loose, a little too loose, but nice.
the refs were rough on us at the end too.
Two basically lame calls cost us dearly. Shockey is great, but get out of bounds…
And too many false starts.
Unfortunately, Indy just didn’t make enough mistakes.
Two really good teams that played very, very well.
Giants will continue to get better. But the offense is awesome. They just need to limit the penalties.
I loved Eli’s pass to Nick Harper with the game on the line. Right on the money and very nice.
Giants fans always have the strangest concept of domination and putrid. I remember talking to a freind of mine several years ago, right after a Giants/Eagles game that the Eagles won. He kept going on and on about how the Giants domminated the game. All I could say was that I hoped the Giants would continue to dominate like that. The nice part was that they did, right up until last year. Anyway, I hope the Eagles keep looking godawful putrid for the rest of the season. By the way, my wife is a pretty good tutor. I bet she could help you out with your percentages and fractions and stuff.
Mcnabb is back with Stalworth as his main target. Giants suck and I hope they lose to the Colts tonight. T.O. the Jerk goes down with his new QB Bledsoe who he will back stab to death before the seasons out.
and
Phillies lost but still in the wild card and playing way exciting baseball. Was at Citizens Bank for three games last week and it was electric! Go Philly!
My Dolphins gave it a good shot, but Culpeppers two picks were the difference.
but Alex Smith looked better — maybe he won’t be a Hall of Fame QB, but he’ll have a better career than Ryan Leaf overall. I think Norv Turner is what he needed — Turner may be a bust as a head coach, but he’s a good offensive coordinator.
Won’t be able to write about the Raiders till tomorrow, but not holding out much hope…
