   Good morning Frogpond-type human persons!

   It’s amazing the sorts of things that happen when you just disconnect for a few minutes. I was out walking to the ATM an hour or so ago and started thinking about an article I edited for Wikipedia (scroll down to the picture of the postage stamp). And all of the sudden I heard the first two lines to a song in my head. I came home and started writing, and well golly gee, now I have two songs I haven’t gotten around to putting down on tape, or anywhere else but here.

   So here’s the first draft of the song. Dang, I wish I knew where I could find a cheap (read: free) recording studio. Global Warming Blues is ready to go, and this could be with a little bit of work.

   I’m a big fan of Marx and Lennon,
   Marx and Lennon, Groucho and John.
   Lennon singin’ ’bout peace and justice,
   Groucho’s swagger and carryin’ on.

   I remember when I was a young ‘un,
   I watched the Beatles on TV,
   The Marx Brothers in dozens of movies,
   It all made an impression on me.

   John wrote the songs of a generation —
   Nobody Told Me, Happy To Dance,
   Strawberry Fields, All You Need Is Love,
   Woman, Imagine, Give Peace A Chance.

   Groucho made us laugh with his brothers,
   Always irreverent, charmingly odd,
   They were more alike than different,
   Kindred spirits, peas in a pod.

   Had a dream about John and Groucho
   A celestial Day at the Races,
   Everybody dancing and singing,
   Big smiles on their angel faces.

   Groucho beltin’ out Instant Karma,
   Chico and Harpo and George in the band
   While John leered at Margaret Dumont —
   That’s my kind of promised land.

   Gonna get myself a long black tailcoat,
   Paint a mustache on my face,
   Get a guitar and spread the gospel
   Of Marx and Lennon all over the place.

   Can’t help but think this tired old world would have
   A better future to build upon
   If there was less Karl and more Groucho,
   Less Vladimir, and more John.

     when you get it finished Omir…don’t play a banjo, but I can find my way around on a guitar…might make a good “blues”…sorta cisco houston, talkin’ style

    I’ll rise, but I refuse to shine.

    I slept on the floor of the spare bedroom with the crazy (in heat) dog from about 1am onward.  Needless to say, I did not sleep well.
