The AIDS crisis continues. Thanks to medical advances, the number of AIDS related deaths has decreased. However, HIV infection rates continue to rise, and AIDS has no cure. These trends mean that the pool of people requiring services from HIV and AIDS organizations is larger than ever before.
Thanks to the Bush Regime and the Repugnant Party funding for these services have been cut and many are essential services are hurting for funds. Today is the AIDS WALK in Austin, Texas. I know we are all be asked for donations but I am asking again. If you can help please click on the design to go to my walk page.
I am doing the walk in Memory of the Many People I have lost and the many living with AIDS or HIV. WORLD AIDS DAY 2005 tells some of the stories of those I have lost to this disease.
I’d meant to donate, but blanked out on it till today…
It’s important to remember those who still live with HIV, as well as those who have departed. I’ve been privileged to worship under two wonderful Episcopal priests who were both HIV-positive; they moved to NYC several years ago to work in a parish there. So Clayton and Christopher, this donation’s for you…
Thank you!!!!!
Hey RF – I don’t know how I missed last year’s diary about your friends and loved ones who had died of AIDS, but I’m really glad you linked to it here. I don’t know anyone personally who has the disease and sometimes it feels very far away from my everyday life. But I think I know you a little bit from the Cafe and now I feel like I know Don and Keith and the others and am sad for their loss. Keep fighting the good fight and put on those walking shoes!
