I feel like Omir. I show up and the Lounge closes.
I spent all evening cleaning this place up so you could make a grand entrance.
(I had a spinach pasta plate with shrimp)
Manny didn’t we have a grand staircase put in just for Mary’s entrances. 🙂
and I’m pretty sure she left a glass slipper the last time she visited
Are you sure a glass slipper? I thought it was a pair of Itialian sandles.
Who do you think I am? MSOC?
What gave me away? The tiara?
tiara was a strong hint but the pink feather boa is what gave you away.
It goes so well with my jammies.
If I’d known you were going to all that effort I would have worn my BEST pajamas.
That sounds good. Especially with a nice glass of Pinot.
I had pizza — ordered in so we didn’t miss any innings. Not nearly as good as yours.
notorious for taking vacations by myself. One of the things I love to do is try out local restaurants and new foods wherever I happen to find myself. It occurred to me that I don’t do too much exploring here so I checked out a place that I used to life by, it was fantastic.
I hope you don’t spill any pizza sauce on your silk jammies.
Well, Walker looked awfully good, and once the Cards remembered (in about the fourth inning) that they were supposed to force Glavine to throw strikes, things started looking good. Even the big downer of the evening (Edmonds grounding into a force at the plate) was an instructional opportunity, as our 9-year-old wondered why the first baseman didn’t step on first base first (wow, that’s a rough sentence) before throwing home. (Answer: Bases were loaded, and stepping on first would’ve removed the force, allowing the run to score).
Anyway, on to Shea. Joe Buck was kind enough to point out that the last Game Six at Shea was in the 1986 World Series, best remembered for Mookie Wilson’s ground ball through Bill Buckner’s legs.
in the playoffs. You never know WHICH Cardinals team is going to show up this year. So I’ve achieved a zen like state. (Plus I turn down the sound and only watch the pictures.)
That must be nice. I get the same effect without the zen, because doing laundry in the basement – the only place our cable-free house seems to get the Cards on TV, it comes without sound.
No silk pjs, either.
that I can’t take the tension any more. It turns out that caring about multiple teams makes it worse. It’s a purely lexicographic preference, too — if the Giants and Cards were playing, as they were in 2002, I’d root for the Giants as strongly as I’m rooting for the Cards now. (I converted sometime in the 90s, which meant I managed to end up on the winning side of both the 1987 and 2002 NLCS). I died a thousand deaths as the Cards folded to the Red Sox in 2004, having died 1001 when the Giants lost to the Angels in 2002, but only 999 when the Red Sox lost to the Mets in 1986. And the A’s? Well, I live on the west side of the Bay, so while I like to see them succeed, they’re really a distant fourth in my affections. I wasn’t happy to see the Tigers demolish them, but it didn’t bother me too much (and the Tigers’ pitching was awfully good).
But all that said, I enjoyed tonight’s game immensely. Albert, who is clearly the standout player of his generation, finally came alive. And my old nemesis Eckstein, once again, had just enough (BTW, wrt Eckstein – some time when you’re at the park, watch him take his grounders from the first baseman between innings sometime. He’s practically out in left field, just making sure he has enough arm).
I know. I grew up in MO with the Cardinals, and my whole family still bleeds red, guess I do too, really. Though living here in Detroit now, its about time for the big cats to do something right, and I will be a bit torn to see them against the Cards. But then again, to shut NY out of the Series entirely is very very sweet!
I am fearful of actually watching the redbirds play, however. Always seems to guarantee a loss. . .amazing to be superstitious when not so any other way.
oh well, I am beat and I can’t wait to gloat tomorrow over my Mets-crazy boss, just not too much!
Sucks to be you, I guess. 😛
Gotta get back to late-night cramming for my Real Estate exam.
Cramming for my Real Estate exam! At the moment it sound like it suck to be you. 🙂
Touche…
I keep wondering what exactly a “real estate” class is. Do you get a license to sell at the end?
As befits my new geezer status, I’m off to bed.
This doesn’t feel right … but, goodnight all … 🙂
the ‘O’ at your b looks good, glad the destructions worked for you.
They were very easy to follow … 🙂 Nighty night!
Night Olivia.
BTW you know once you start the geezerhood cycle, you can’t get out of it. Oh Noooooooooo……. 🙂
but g’night alien in Olivia’s body.
that has me laughing in hysterics. 😀
were here — he’s visited Roswell. He’d KNOW if an alien were present.
I think I’ll head off to bed too. I can only do non-geezerly stuff for so long.
Night all.
see you on the flip.
It must have killed you, waiting for Olivia to cave and go to bed first. 🙂
g’night FM.
It’s been fun, but I need to head off to bed too. See y’all.
thanks again for the comment at my b earlier. paz
Just dropped in to say goodnight sweethearts-off to bed with me and hopefully no nightmares tonight.
Been there, done that with the nightmare stuff – not fun at all. Sending good thoughts your way for a good night’s sleep.
Well, once again, I’m here and everyone really seems to be gone. Oh well, get the broom out and sweep up. Baseball fans – me too – make such a mess!
I’m here, was catching up on reading diaries. How was your day?
Hi, Manny,
Not the greatest. Fog, misting sideways rain all day. I have a bad cold, hot office, sleepy students. Gripe. Whine, etc.
But the Cards won! That’s something, at least.
How about you?
to hear about the cold, it always seems to hit when the weather changes.
Today was alright, just alot going at work and with the familia. Trying to keep afloat any way I can, know what I mean?
g’night Kidspeak, growthrate and any other lurking frogs. See yawl on the flip
