Progressive Christian, liberal Democrat in KS, and Mac user - I don't follow the crowd... Highly recommend Marcus Borg's writing, Cassandra Wilson's singing, and www.soulforce.org, www.tcpc.org, & www.sojo.net
shortly after I was laid off in January, I regained my balance by shooting some photos around downtown – enjoyed playing with the light around the library – I like how the word is emerging from the shadows here.
I’ve lost my camera – had a canon g2 and I’m increasingly sure it was lifted out of my van a few weeks ago (but not the tripod, etc I carry. Was probably time to upgrade – debating between a new G7 or a Rebel XTi – probably do it like I did the G2 years ago and have everybody chip in for Christmas… anyway, I bring that up because on the camera not downloaded wasa really cool shot of a curved switch… all sorts of intersecting railroad lines…need to remember where I’d found that and visit again….
Photos like these always trigger my imagination as to what lies off in the distance beyond the horizon. I’ve done a lot of train traveling and have a special place in my heart for the rails. One meets the most interesting people on the train. Thanks for sharing your work!
taken on my way to a psych eval as part of my UMC candidacy process – drove 4 hours to Jetmore, KS to take a battery of standardized tests. Made for a very relaxed day – the drive out and back gave me plenty of time to reflect on the journey
taken after a long day of driving, a nice and needed break.

This is a beautiful sunset. I like the small jet trail as a neat detail.
(I’ve always liked your name, by the way.)
seem to be into distance shots… pondering journeys.

another vanishing point shot. Any similarity to our electoral choices is purely coincidental 😉

not quite sure why I find these kinds of shots so relaxing, but I do – hope you enjoy as well. I find I’ve taken dozens of these this year 🙂

These are all my kind of pictures — I love lines and edges — but the play of light and shadow makes this one really stand out for me.
probably one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken. On that same trip, just before getting to Jetmore – was walking back to the van when I noticed…. this blade of grass pushing it’s way through the baked clay. Any similarity to electoral politics purely intentional 😉

I love this shot. It reminds me of The Grapes of Wrath and the turtle chapter.
Beautiful shots. I’m particularly drawn to the vanishing point photos. The journey. The mystery. The potential.
Your photos fill me with the immensity of the planet. It does seem to go on forever.
