The Chartres Cathedral was an impressive site, but I found the statues that surrounded the cathedral very unique and enhanced the overall feeling of the structure.
They caught my eye! It was sucha sight to see the cathedral rise from the horizon as we drove to Chartre. I find this cathedral more interesting than Notre Dame in many respects.
Besides finding the time, the only thing keeping from doing so is the idea of a 10 hour flight with an infant and a toddler. I could send them on a different flight, but then some may get the idea I’m a bad mom. 😉
Hi Viera,
Did you know that La Rochelle is the home port of Cousteau’s Calypso and Alcyone research vessels? Calypso is there, wasting away inside the harbor. I would travel there just to see her one more time :o)
This photo was taken near the end of the day. The port was one of my favorite memories of my trip to France.

What a beautiful image — and very painterly.

I could not resist taking this photo of a pretty little girl with her mother in La Rochelle.

I always get slightly overwhelmed by the exterior of cathedrals and miss many of the details. Thanks for zeroing in on these guys.

on my list of things to do is to make a pilgrimage to the labyrinth there. Thanks for sharing these photos vieravisionary!
Very nice. I’m assuming these are in France (to lazy to actually search). Looks like I’ll have to visit my sister after all.
Yes, they were taken in France! You do need to visit your sister and see these sights.
