FINAL DESTINATION
This being the last day to share some of the results of my experiments in light, mirrors, magic & smoke, I take the opportunity to thank all the great people I`ve met here over the past year. As some may know, & for those who don`t, I first came here, answering an open invitation I saw on another blog, to join in a fOtofair. Here are a few last images to share with you all, and “Thank you” for showing patience with me if you so deserve it. |
In a place, burnt & pillaged back to the stone age, a young man in Darfur ostracized from his village, family & friends for his blue eyes, a result of the rape of his mother by a western aid worker, must wander forever, alone in a hell created through no fault of his own.

A lot of the things I think I know today are, I think, a direct result of things I think I saw.

While working in my shop & sorting things out before my brother shows up,
I came across some light bulbs I`d put in a box to be replaced with new ones.
At that time I noticed Teri, watering the gardens & thought I`d make her a little bouquet.
I put the light`s base to an electric grindstone & slowly started grinding down the base while every few seconds,
dipping it in water to cool it down to prevent project failure.
I then snapped out the glass core in the center of the bottom to relieve the negative pressure due to the vacuum inside the bulb.
I filed down a toothbrush to allow it to fit inside the opening I had created in the bottom of the bulb, to allow for cleaning it.
The bulb had burnt out & left a dark cloudy film on the inside. So far, so good.
Now for the flowers. I went looking for some small flowers but the hole in the bulb was quite small, so I figured I`d try one of my tricks on this.
I got a small piece of telephone wire & scotch-taped the flowers to the wire as a stem.
I went & got wax paper & rolled up the bouquet into a tube , gently tightening the tube & compressing the flowers.
I inserted this tube into the glass base & carefully removed the wax paper.
Et voila, a little bouquet in appreciation for all she does for me that only cost my pleasure doing it.
Here`s the same pic taken as a side view compared to an end view.
Neat, right Right??

Neat? You have to ask? Of course it’s neat. Not only that you had the idea, figured out how to do it and actually made it work, but the reason why you did it — all neat.
You get my vote for BooTribber of the day.
and BTW, great picture.
Amazing. The thought, the execution. Wow.
Aww, that is so sweet!
This snail usually viewed as an empty shell of itself, now divulges it`s previously hidden beauty.

This Oriental lady, seems to be resigned to a life of abuse. Such is not the case, she is resigned to her fate, an imminent death. The look of sadness in her expression, is not for anyone but for her abuser, who she knows will be experiencing a horrible death. Magnesia is her name. Now that her children are away & raising families of their own, there is no more reason to live in denial, the way she did raising hers, always protecting them from the knowledge of the pain she was going through on a daily basis at the hands of this evil man. No, there will be no more abuse beyond that which the unsuspecting man will suffer at her hands. She has been drinking a poison that builds & builds in her system & which she shares with her abuser, not voluntarily, but with the willingness to ending his life, even though it means the end of hers.
