I saw a headline that a Florida lawmaker has resigned after leaving a voice message on a fellow lawmaker’s phone that included a racial slur. I thought to myself, “Hmmm, what are the chances this guy is a Republican?” Yup, it’s a Republican. And his seat is up for grabs in a few days. As with Foley, his name will appear on the ballot. So, some Floridian republicans will now have the opportunity to vote for a phantom racist as well as a phantom sex offender. Meanwhile, Republicans in NY-20 can vote for a wife beater, in PA-10 they can vote for a mistress choker, in the Nevada governor’s race they can vote for a cocktail waitress groper. Why worry about corruption when we can concentrate on racism and assault?
