a pork rub from a recipe that my nana gave me over the weekend. it uses chili paste, oregano, garlic, achiote seeds and oil. I decided to put the pork chops in my roaster instead of grilling them so they would marinate in the juice. It was heaven on a plate but I overdid myself. I may actually go work out tonight (ha!)
Which reminds me,I made tamales today and they came out great, pork ones, bought the prepared masa from local store…also made some with just cheese inside. Do you have any good ideas for sweet tamales, Manee.
my family is having the annual tamale-making party in a couple of weeks. I can’t wait!! No recipes for sweet tamales, we stuck to the chili and meat. For our sweet tooths, it was usually empanadas filled with pumpkin or pineapple growing up. Is it possible that I’m hungry again? =:-o
don’t have any discernable flavor, but have been used for centuries as a dye. The Mayans, among other Latin American cultures use them for many different purposes. Here’s a comparable recipe for what I attempted tonight.
I know what you mean, I had a brain lapse as I was waking up and I actually thought it was Friday night. What a let down to realize it wasn’t anywhere close!
Just got back from the counter-recruitment vigil-pretty peaceful although it must be hard for the recruiters to sit in their office listening to all the cars going by honking encouragingly to us. Took the long way home and rode my bike down by the river-the city lights reflecting in the water were trippy!
Thanks for the hooka turn and now I am baking brownies, well actually blondies, home made ones, yummy, they are so good.
What are blondies?
without chocolate…I put butterscotch or toffee chips, plus walnuts.
That does sound good. Although I’m not sure Olvia would agree. She’s the original chocoholic. 🙂
chacun a son goût
🙂
and impress me w/ your learnings … 🙂
I’m just trying to get used to beer and hockey first. I don’t want to overdo it and burn out.
i ate too much 🙁 but those brownies sure sound good! 😉
So I take it the new recipe came out good?
what did you have?

Ok that does it, I am going to do a recipe diary maybe tomorrow and you can post your empanada recipe.
I’ve never heard of achiote seed … what does that taste like?

Hi Manny!
It’s geezer bedtime.
Everyone have a good night in the pond.
Darn! Goodnight FamilyMan.
I dropped in and immediately fell asleep. And then I missed a huge cafe.
That sucks!
How is everyone?
those naps love to sneak up on the best of us 🙂 How goes it? Not too bad on this end, just wishing it was the weekend already. heh
