But the wholesale price of gasoline has gone up about 12.5% since the day before the election. I know, as Jerome has pointed out, market forces are at work. This rise has nothing to do with where we are in the election cycle, but I just thought I would point out that the price was $1.44 a gollon before the election, and today closed at $1.62.5 a gallon.
As I said in September, if I were a betting man, I think I would put some money on the price going up, rather than down between now and the start of 07.
I think it is likely to take off shortly after the new Congress starts its session. Could be very wrong…just sayin.
Of course, this is all due the market at work. No one is manipulating gas prices. Wait! Turn away! Ignore the men behind by the curtain! Look at me, the disinterested, infallible, all powerful Market Forces!
