this diary is dedicated to all who suffer because of war
we love and support our troops, just as we love and support the Iraqi people – without exception, or precondition, or judgment
we have no sympathy for the devil

an email i received from a friend who had an IM Chat with a soldier in Iraq — my friend copied it so that i could see what’s going on:
yet another edition of i would never want to be in the military:

Soldier: we killed an inoccent mother and father, with the kid in the car
Soldier: accident
friend: oh no … what happeend?
Soldier: of course
friend: well you woudlnt’ do it on purpose
Soldier: they came too close, ignored signals given to stop
Soldier: and one of the guys did what he was supposed to, which was protect us
Soldier: everyone’s taking it pretty hard
friend: .. that is a very rough day
Soldier: esp. for the kid
friend: what did you do w/ him?
friend: put him in the closet
Soldier: j/k (sick joke)
Soldier: i dunno, we left him up in the aid station
Soldier: he was hit too
Soldier: but survied
friend: oh man
Soldier: everyone just kinda came back and zoned out
friend: i can imagine
Soldier: yeah nothing like being part of a kids worst memory
Soldier: man i’m gonna be an alcoholic
note: I included the IM in yesterday’s diary at dKos, and am re-running it today with different pictures, but without the poem that previously appeared.
The candle that DianeL first lit many months ago, and which has become such an important part of these diaries since, is still available here.
You can copy that image into your own comment (you can leave it on my server), craft your own image, and/or rate this one – not for mojo, but to leave a small mark after taking this moment – as a sign that you know, but do not approve, and are not resigned.

Report on Iraq Exposes a Divide Within the G.O.P.
Sometimes these are more than I can bear. Has anyone watched the CNN presents “Combat Hospital”? It is heartbreaking to say the least. These are the heroes(if there really are any) of this illegal occupation. They try to save not only our soldiers but insurgents and Iraqi children alike.
I have watched it several times and I think it would be good if all the war supporters would. Yes it is heartbreaking.
BTW House representative Dennis Kucinich is hosting a panel on cspan right now reg. the Lancet survey of Iraqi deaths since the war began. Juan Cole is also on the panel.
Hi Diane! Maybe you can write a diary about that.I am in the office now. Have a great day.
