Wrapping up in the office. The asklets came by 1/2 hr ago, they’re out again shopping with gift cards from Christmas at the Discovery Store.
Young asklet and I heading for Hoboken in a few. Older sister says she needs to party, as it’s back to school next week?? (it’s weekend every week).
They were off from school this week too? The CBs think they are so lucky…
We’re getting CBtE’s stuff together for his big Outward Bound adventure (he leaves Monday), and helping a friend with her move into a new apartment sometime tomorrow.
Howdy there CG… I don’t make it around these parts as much as I’d like these days, but slacking a bit here at work, so thought I’d drop in and say hey to everyone.
Going to be rainy and snowy here tonight, and the temp has been dropping all afternoon… time for a snuggly night at home with the hubby, pups and some good movies.
Here’s my cyber cocktail request for the day, called an Alaska
2 oz Tanqueray 10 gin
1/4 oz Green Chartreuse
Lemon twist for garnish
Put the gin in the shaker with ice, add the Chartreuse, shake and pour into chilled martini glass. Garnish with the lemon twist …
Won’t exactly put hair on your chest, but it will give you a warm tingly feeling! Just might have to have one of these tonight!
Hi IVG! It’s been nice seeing you around again lately.
That Alaska sounds tasty. I had a friend who loved Green Chartreuse, but he wasn’t very good about sharing it for some reason… π
Sounds like you have a nice evening planned. Maybe we’ll have to find something good on cable to watch while we eat our amazing hoagies and Italian cookies we got in South Philly this afternoon.
don’t be too envious, . we’ve had2 big ones and several moderate ones (18″ + -)…since thanksgiving…and it hasn’t been warm enough to melt them…running out of places to put it; the city’s starting to load it onto trucks and haul it off…we’re headed for a record season methinks.
Hey there dada-O! Prett soon you and Bu are going to need to be airlifted out if that keeps up! Hope your provisions are well stocked and you don’t have any avalanches nearby.
Stay warm, and when I hear whining from C tonight that we aren’t getting enough snow for his tastes, I’ll not so tactfully remind him of your situation, hehe.
Howdy Andi,
Been swamped lately and overwhelmed by holiday stuff, but hopefully on the upswing in the new year! Being a bad boy at work for a bit (and taking off early here in a few), so my nose will be to the grindstone on Monday as I hear yours will be as well.
Hoping we get enough snow tonight that will last through tomorrow so I can get pics of the holly and berries in the snow… been waiting for just such an occasion all winter. Maybe I should just have Dada FedEx me some of his… I know he’s tired of it!

My iTunes is messed up…most of my music is no longer in my library, but I have a folder that’s marked “iTunes Music” that appears to have all my missing music in it. Is there some easy way to import the folder back into my library?
I had already found it and – Voila! My music is all back. Too bad we lost our playlists in the proccess (especially since CBtE had just gotten all my music separated from his).

Looks like my iPod is just as indignant as I am today.
I realise a bazillion people have seen the sight already, but I just checked it for the first time in years and they have pics of WW recipes people actually made, and “decorated”. They are as hilarious as the originals!
Random 10:
Natural Blues – Moby
The Waiting Room – Genesis

Democratic Circus – Talking Heads
Love Song (Extended Mix) – The Cure
The Four Seasons, Summer – Vivaldi
Aqualung – Jethro Tull Riddim I Like — Asian Dub Foundation (two versions, the second one live)
The Boxer – Simon and Garfunkel
Passing Strangers – Ultravox
Hehe,
I saw that too and was surprised it popped up. There’s not that much classical on my iPod, and the little there is isn’t played much (subway noise not conducive to such listening, better with something high NRG).
Yes indeed — woo hoo! A new chapter opens the tale of the wandering wench.
Naturally, your New Year’s wishes helped push along the natural way of things — as you so magically do.
Glad to see you made it through the rough weather OK. Has your neighborhood suffered damage?
There were a few tree limbs that fell, but nothing big. There was a tornado that touched down in the county by us, but no one was hurt. The biggest casualty was the cable TV here.
Now I’ve got to work that magic on getting you some transportation. π
We’ll work on it together, for sure, FM! I’ve just been engaged in a little transport meditation downthread.
I’m very glad to hear you only lost cable. Not such a bad position to be in, iirc.
π
I saw this morning you’re going by train. Is it going straight from FL. to NY. I guess that would make the most sense. Too bad. I found out afterward that ej when he went to NO came within 3 miles of my house. I would have loved to have seen him.
As far as the cable it wasn’t too bad. Different snow patterns on each channel. Of course I would have liked that more during my younger days. π
As for US train travel, the bus is far worse! I’ve done the Miami/NY trip on both, about a dozen round trips all told. After the last bus trip I swore to myself I’d never do it again.
I done the bus a couple of times and I’m the same as you. I swore I would never ride one again.
I really do wish they had more trains down here in the South. Fmom talks about even in the little town she grew up in the train always stopped there. Our old train station in this town has been closed for decades. You have to have a car to drive about 35 miles away to get to a train station now.
The kids and I took a train from Denver to Cleveland one year and we loved it. There’s nothing like the sound of the wheels on the tracks and the scenery going by.
My sister and her family took a train to D.C. a long time ago and they didn’t like it. They ended up flying back. I think that has something to do with no trains down here for passengers. The people aren’t used to it.
This has happened to many places. It’s a shame.
The reason I’ve taken the bus so much was my residence in Asheville. Nothin’ happpenin’ by rail at all, though this wasn’t always true.
Not much tonight.
Young asklet is here with me (well, he’s out right now, getting burgers from Johnny Rockets). We’re not doing much – maybe a video game after food.
too lazy. Weird day. Two marines showed up at the door for Colin when neither of us was home. A girl who I used to play with on my street when I was little died from multiple myeloma. I hadn’t seen her in 30 years and her picture brought me right back there.
I’m so sorry SN. I found out a couple of months back that a good friend of my from high school had died of a heart attack. I hadn’t seen him in about 35 years, but it still stopped me in my tracks.
Marines showing up for Colin? I would have loved to seen it if you had been there. π
He had to register for selective service when he turned 18, so I’m sure they had his name from that or from his former high school. It’s creepy. If I’d have been home I think my blood would have gone cold at the sight of them.

Going To New York – Jimmy Reed
Chauffeur Blues – Memphis Minnie
Freight Train – Elizabeth Cotten
Summertime Blues – Eddie Cochran

Rock Island Line – Johnny Cash
Well there you are! A quick picture of pine trees, a picture of you streching your back, a baby being changed, cashews I’m not sure about and finally Baltimore. That could be a full lenght movie. π
Crooked teeth add character. Just ask my oldest son who couldn’t have his straightened because we were poor back then. His teeth look like broken pottery, but he’s still a stunner.
My teeth look a bit like broken pottery, too — if the pottery’s been submerged in muddy brine for approximately 26 years. I should actually star in a public service announcement against drug abuse, if anything. Kids, look at these teeth! Really icky. Don’t do drugs!
Oddly enough, I like taking my own picture, but I don’t like being photographed by others. At least not any more. I modeled years ago for various artists & kooks.
I’d imagine any recording or image of you would show an excellent, magical person, FM.

Sent spouse out to play, that’s why I’ll get a quiet night — actually church is having an Epiphany service/dinner, but it’s still a bit too cold for my cold-affected lungs and throat; even daytime was chilly and brisk, temps in the 50s but wind chill making it feel colder. Nighttime far worse.
If I get the energy after dinner (fried chicken from the deli, rice, and green beans), I may tackle cleaning out the refrigerator and getting things reorganized — once I’m healthy enough to stand on the stepladder for extended periods, I’ll work on organizing the pantry (again).

Any list including Coltrane is already brilliant, imo.
I’d check out some of these other artists just because they’re on your list — & I hardly ever check out anything new musically any more. As I’m sure is obvious.
I was stuck in the 70s until my kids started getting older. Without them it would be all Dan Fogelberg, Jackson Browne, Pure Prairie League, Moody Blues, etc.
I tend to hang out in different eras, depending on my mood — but I haven’t heard much of anything new since the start of Bush’s second term. (The day the music died ..?)
Mr. Nature had a colonoscopy done at a place that does them exclusively. They had 50s music piped in that about drove me crazy – but the place was full of old men, so it sort of fit!
It’s a misty, rainy night here in CabinLand…what’s going on with all of you?

Yup. 2.5 weeks.
They’re just back, so time to leave. Back with random 10 when home.
I’ve seen some references to the CBtE adventure, but I’m afraid I don’t have the whole story. Anyway, hope he has a great time while away.

I will be really jealous if you get snow.
Can’t wait to see those images, IVG!
why we haven’t had any snow here — you hogged it all.
Thank you for another lovely image, dada. Glad you’re safe & well.
great news that you’re heading home…thought there was a surge in the force this AM.
perhaps your presence will restore the climate there.

My iTunes is messed up…most of my music is no longer in my library, but I have a folder that’s marked “iTunes Music” that appears to have all my missing music in it. Is there some easy way to import the folder back into my library?
If you haven’t restarted itunes, Jim suggests quitting and restarting itunes.
If that doesn’t work, he suggests reinstalling itunes.
If that doesn’t work, then he would import the folder with the music.
Tried the first 2 already, so how do I import the whole folder quickly and easily?
Jim thinks maybe you should get the latest version if you don’t already have it. I’m doubtful but if you don’t have it, it can’t hurt.
I’ve used ‘Add Folder to Library’ to bring music in.
I already have the latest version. Where do I find the “Add folder to library” choice?
on the file menu
I had already found it and – Voila! My music is all back. Too bad we lost our playlists in the proccess (especially since CBtE had just gotten all my music separated from his).
Too bad about the playlists but having it all smushed together is better for your random 10.

Whatcha feeling indignant about?
work stuff. as always.
62 minutes to go! (not that I’m counting)
work is the shits. We gotta get it outlawed — then we can get the republicans to build a fence around it so it can’t bother us anymore.
Hi ManEe,
I believe Maroon 5 is oldest asklet’s favorite – at least until recently.
your pick reminded me of the 1970’s Weight Watchers recipe cards site
http://www.candyboots.com/wwcards.html

My pick is from the annetaintor.com website. Hilarious stuff.
you need to post a nsfdu* for that site.

Everything OK at home, FM?
Hi WW. Sorry it took so long to reply, but I got called to run an errand as soon as I sign on.
BTW Woo Hoo and going home on Monday. π
Yes indeed — woo hoo! A new chapter opens the tale of the wandering wench.

I can dig it.
π
Yes, the train makes a sort-of-straight line between Miami & NY — about 30 hours, if we’re lucky. I hope to get into town with sufficient clothes on.
In any case, I sense that we’ll meet some day, if not sooner.
π
Sound good to me. I used to love to ride the trains in Europe, but the one time I rode one in the States I wasn’t to impressed.
Yep I sense meeting a lot of people this year. I just submitted my entry for Publishers Clearing House and this is my year. π
I sincerely wish you good luck, FM!

There’s nothing like it, really — especially if you’re in the right state of mind.
I think Americans are so used to getting someplace at the speed of light. They can’t sit back and relax and enjoy a slow ride.
This has happened to many places. It’s a shame.
The reason I’ve taken the bus so much was my residence in Asheville. Nothin’ happpenin’ by rail at all, though this wasn’t always true.

Young asklet is here with me (well, he’s out right now, getting burgers from Johnny Rockets). We’re not doing much – maybe a video game after food.
Hi Ask.
Sounds like a good night to me. Never heard of Johnny Rockets.
Hey FM,
Oh – those were good.
Maybe there is a location in your area?
See the reviews of the one in my area.
They sound good, but the closest to me would be about 4 hours away. Guess I’ll just have to wait. π
I hope everyone had a great Friday!!!!! It was a long and busy one for me but I can relax till I head in for overtime in the am. LOL
4. Better Be Good To Me (Extended version) -Tina Turner
I redid my designs from last night. LOL
Hi Refinish.
I agree with Andi from this morning. Wishful thinking. π
I’ve always liked that Carly Simon song. It’s just so sad.
Thank you. Wishful thinking is better than no thinking. LOL I love Carly Simon anyway!!!!
I agree on the thinking. I like Carly Simon, but haven’t really heard anything from her in a long time.
too lazy. Weird day. Two marines showed up at the door for Colin when neither of us was home. A girl who I used to play with on my street when I was little died from multiple myeloma. I hadn’t seen her in 30 years and her picture brought me right back there.

Marines showing up for Colin? I would have loved to seen it if you had been there. π
I’m hoping they come back tomorrow when he and I are both home. Are they so desperate that they’re showing up cold at 18 yo boys’ homes?
Sounds that way to me. That’s the first I’ve heard of them going door to door.
He had to register for selective service when he turned 18, so I’m sure they had his name from that or from his former high school. It’s creepy. If I’d have been home I think my blood would have gone cold at the sight of them.
Registering is one thing, draft is another. There’s no reason for blood going cold at the sight of them. Just say no.
So sorry!!!
Mortality strikes again – and it sucks!
Trust me I understand.
I’m sorry to hear this, SN.
A weird day — understood.

WW I know most of the artist, but not the songs.
Ah, but I know you get the gist! It’s the Movin’ Mix.
You know I have one problem with you moving back home. You won’t be around as much. A day without WW will be like no spring flowers appearing.
Thank you, FM — you’re very kind.
I’ll certainly try to make my appearances — with photos!
It might be nice to have a travel log on the way to NY and home. The journey of WW. I see a picture book in the future. π
Actually, that might be far less interesting than you’d suspect:
10 pm: Pine trees at last!
1 am: My back hurts.
8 am: Wake up, Mama. The baby’s wet.
11 am: Where the hell are those cashews?
3 pm: Oh boy! Baltimore!
Well there you are! A quick picture of pine trees, a picture of you streching your back, a baby being changed, cashews I’m not sure about and finally Baltimore. That could be a full lenght movie. π
You’re probably right. It’s a shame I’m allergic to having my picture taken. We’d have to have a stand-in. I nominate Robert De Niro.
What about Ernest Borgnine?
SN I know you have dreams, but Ernest…..
Frankly, any actor with crooked teeth is suitable — even if they’re dead.
Crooked teeth add character. Just ask my oldest son who couldn’t have his straightened because we were poor back then. His teeth look like broken pottery, but he’s still a stunner.
I’d definitely agree!
My teeth look a bit like broken pottery, too — if the pottery’s been submerged in muddy brine for approximately 26 years. I should actually star in a public service announcement against drug abuse, if anything. Kids, look at these teeth! Really icky. Don’t do drugs!
Appeals to vanity are probably more effective than ones to their health.
Mr. Nature has gray teeth from taking tetracycline as a child. Nothing whitens them.
Hah! You showed a picture of you one time. You were smoking something and said it was legal. So there. π
I’m the same. My voice and my picture I hate to have taken.
Oddly enough, I like taking my own picture, but I don’t like being photographed by others. At least not any more. I modeled years ago for various artists & kooks.
I’d imagine any recording or image of you would show an excellent, magical person, FM.
Artists and kooks. Isn’t that redundant?
I believe that depends on the artist’s market share.
Speaking of sharing, I need to phone someone in NY about digs. Hope to be back later!
Great List!!!!!
Glad you like it, refinish! This is the stuff I carry around all the time, somewhere in my neural make-up.
Someday I hope to play for real!
Hope you’re doing well today, dear.

I used to rock my kids to sleep singing that John Denver song, even though it ends with someone shooting himself in the head. I’m a sick, sick mother.
You are probably one of the best mothers I ever seen. I’m sure your children would say the same. So there. π
Well, now I’m totally disarmed and don’t know what to say. Hah!
You’re not telling the truth. A SN that doesn’t know what to say. Hah!
That’s because mean things come naturally to me. Nice things – not so much.
Oh come on. You’re one of the nicest people I know.
Hah – fooled you! π
Ah, but it’s the tune that counts. Some of the prettiest music is quite violent lyrically. So what?
I agree completely with that. Some songs I’ve loved, I loved the melody and still don’t know what the lyrics are.
OMG you’re talking my music. What’s wrong with that?
Nothing’s wrong with it – I still love it, but there’s always room for more!
The last one I had I heard nothing. I did talk to a CNRA who told me to count to 10. Never got there.
Did they give you a picture of your colon?
Fly Me To The Moon indeed.
for a while I am working on some designs and will also be doing a podcast tonight. I will check back in later once I am done with these. LOL
Got to go for a minute. Got to find something for FMom.
