It’s a misty, rainy night here in CabinLand…what’s going on with all of you?
Wrapping up in the office. The asklets came by 1/2 hr ago, they’re out again shopping with gift cards from Christmas at the Discovery Store.
Young asklet and I heading for Hoboken in a few. Older sister says she needs to party, as it’s back to school next week?? (it’s weekend every week).
They were off from school this week too? The CBs think they are so lucky…
We’re getting CBtE’s stuff together for his big Outward Bound adventure (he leaves Monday), and helping a friend with her move into a new apartment sometime tomorrow.
Yup. 2.5 weeks.
They’re just back, so time to leave. Back with random 10 when home.
I’ve seen some references to the CBtE adventure, but I’m afraid I don’t have the whole story. Anyway, hope he has a great time while away.

2 oz Tanqueray 10 gin
1/4 oz Green Chartreuse
Lemon twist for garnish
Put the gin in the shaker with ice, add the Chartreuse, shake and pour into chilled martini glass. Garnish with the lemon twist …
Won’t exactly put hair on your chest, but it will give you a warm tingly feeling! Just might have to have one of these tonight!

don’t be too envious, . we’ve had2 big ones and several moderate ones (18″ + -)…since thanksgiving…and it hasn’t been warm enough to melt them…running out of places to put it; the city’s starting to load it onto trucks and haul it off…we’re headed for a record season methinks.

Been swamped lately and overwhelmed by holiday stuff, but hopefully on the upswing in the new year! Being a bad boy at work for a bit (and taking off early here in a few), so my nose will be to the grindstone on Monday as I hear yours will be as well.
Hoping we get enough snow tonight that will last through tomorrow so I can get pics of the holly and berries in the snow… been waiting for just such an occasion all winter. Maybe I should just have Dada FedEx me some of his… I know he’s tired of it!

My iTunes is messed up…most of my music is no longer in my library, but I have a folder that’s marked “iTunes Music” that appears to have all my missing music in it. Is there some easy way to import the folder back into my library?
If you haven’t restarted itunes, Jim suggests quitting and restarting itunes.
If that doesn’t work, he suggests reinstalling itunes.
If that doesn’t work, then he would import the folder with the music.
Tried the first 2 already, so how do I import the whole folder quickly and easily?
Jim thinks maybe you should get the latest version if you don’t already have it. I’m doubtful but if you don’t have it, it can’t hurt.
I’ve used ‘Add Folder to Library’ to bring music in.

I had already found it and – Voila! My music is all back. Too bad we lost our playlists in the proccess (especially since CBtE had just gotten all my music separated from his).

There were a few tree limbs that fell, but nothing big. There was a tornado that touched down in the county by us, but no one was hurt. The biggest casualty was the cable TV here.
Now I’ve got to work that magic on getting you some transportation. 🙂

I saw this morning you’re going by train. Is it going straight from FL. to NY. I guess that would make the most sense. Too bad. I found out afterward that ej when he went to NO came within 3 miles of my house. I would have loved to have seen him.
As far as the cable it wasn’t too bad. Different snow patterns on each channel. Of course I would have liked that more during my younger days. 😉

Yes, the train makes a sort-of-straight line between Miami & NY — about 30 hours, if we’re lucky. I hope to get into town with sufficient clothes on.

As for US train travel, the bus is far worse! I’ve done the Miami/NY trip on both, about a dozen round trips all told. After the last bus trip I swore to myself I’d never do it again.
I done the bus a couple of times and I’m the same as you. I swore I would never ride one again.
I really do wish they had more trains down here in the South. Fmom talks about even in the little town she grew up in the train always stopped there. Our old train station in this town has been closed for decades. You have to have a car to drive about 35 miles away to get to a train station now.
The kids and I took a train from Denver to Cleveland one year and we loved it. There’s nothing like the sound of the wheels on the tracks and the scenery going by.
My sister and her family took a train to D.C. a long time ago and they didn’t like it. They ended up flying back. I think that has something to do with no trains down here for passengers. The people aren’t used to it.
There’s nothing like it, really — especially if you’re in the right state of mind.
I think Americans are so used to getting someplace at the speed of light. They can’t sit back and relax and enjoy a slow ride.
This has happened to many places. It’s a shame.
The reason I’ve taken the bus so much was my residence in Asheville. Nothin’ happpenin’ by rail at all, though this wasn’t always true.

too lazy. Weird day. Two marines showed up at the door for Colin when neither of us was home. A girl who I used to play with on my street when I was little died from multiple myeloma. I hadn’t seen her in 30 years and her picture brought me right back there.
I’m so sorry SN. I found out a couple of months back that a good friend of my from high school had died of a heart attack. I hadn’t seen him in about 35 years, but it still stopped me in my tracks.

He had to register for selective service when he turned 18, so I’m sure they had his name from that or from his former high school. It’s creepy. If I’d have been home I think my blood would have gone cold at the sight of them.

Sent spouse out to play, that’s why I’ll get a quiet night — actually church is having an Epiphany service/dinner, but it’s still a bit too cold for my cold-affected lungs and throat; even daytime was chilly and brisk, temps in the 50s but wind chill making it feel colder. Nighttime far worse.
If I get the energy after dinner (fried chicken from the deli, rice, and green beans), I may tackle cleaning out the refrigerator and getting things reorganized — once I’m healthy enough to stand on the stepladder for extended periods, I’ll work on organizing the pantry (again).

I was stuck in the 70s until my kids started getting older. Without them it would be all Dan Fogelberg, Jackson Browne, Pure Prairie League, Moody Blues, etc.
