“I think that the president’s plan just delays the inevitable,” [Richard] Clarke said, adding that when the US troops finally do leave Iraq, even if it’s years from now, “there’s going to be chaos.”
“I think that the president’s plan just delays the inevitable,” [Richard] Clarke said, adding that when the US troops finally do leave Iraq, even if it’s years from now, “there’s going to be chaos.”
But isn’t that the neocon plan, to perpetuate ongoing instability in the region?
I think it might have something to do with crippling Arab opposition to Israel by enticing them into a sectarian fight to the death. Seems to be working.
Full credit to those who have been writing about that since before the war went bad is something we may never see.
People seem to like to slowly come to the obvious, lest the equilibration required be too harmful to their ego or some-such..
So, let’s ‘discover’ that this is a divide and conquer oil grab, and nothing else, made palatable by a thin layer of neo-con democracy spreading verbage. To most Americans the spread of Democracy is now the same as the spread of empire. It should go without saying that there IS a difference, but we have to find that space between them and point it out until everyone remembers.
Hurry, turn on cspan, Republicans are trying to stop passage of oil bill, by saying it is a tax increase and therefore needs a 3/4 vote.
sorry that was a 3/5th vote, and they have all the stuff ready to go with there obscure connections.
Blaunt is appealing the ruling of the chair, which was favorable, they called for a vote now to record the ayes and nayes, to table the appeal.
Like I said sometime ago about this new congress, the republicans still think they run the show. What can I say, girl, they are that stupid or what!!?? I have a feeling that they are bout to learn some very valuable lessons for the way they treated the last 12 or so congress’s. What do you think? At least I sure do hope so for all of us. They think they have the dems across the barrel and they do not stop to think that they are in the majority now. The likes of blunt are still trying to carry water for the boss and it aint gonna fly….like when elephants ..or something such as that….;o) hugs and good to see ya again…hope all is well.

And lets revisit Erics Thanks For The Memories, over at bushflash, for a better understand of the U.S. Saddam connections!
Every week we spend a few billion on Bush’s friends. Delay is profit, no matter if the outcome is pre-determined by facts on the ground. There needs to be an economic punishment for those who are participating in that.
I think perhaps this is the way for congress to control this situation: deny payments to contractors, but not the war budget itself. Don’t cut funding for the troops, just the profiteering.
.
The president made clear he was not backing down in his tough rhetoric toward Iran, despite criticism at home. Revolting republicans and liberals alike have openly challenged Bush‘s nuclear diplomacy tactics, many saying his fiery anti-Islam remarks are doing more harm than good.
George Bush said calls for compromise echo “the words of the enemy.”
At the same time, Bush‘s top national security official, John Negroponte, sharply denounced Iranian policy in Iraq, saying Tehran is fueling Shiite-Sunni hatred.
Jipes, how very similar extremists are! I exchanged Ahmadinejad for Bush and you hardly notice a difference!
Ahmadinejad's tour of Latin America: "Any nation
seeking to defend itself can count on Iranian aid."
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
I’m once again facinated with Dennis Kucinich, who is often way ahead of us. He’s had me thinking about “fairness doctrine” all day. Well, Kucinich and my 1300 mile drive from Detroit to Miami…
Let me describe this drive: Miles and miles of “nuttin'” with only right-wing radio and “religious” stations to keep me company. In past trips, I’ve taken the time to write down the frequencies of the AIr America affiliates, only to find out that half or more are “extinct.”
Having picked up just a bit of Kucinich’s interview, I started wondering: How can a remote, rural area support four or five AM radio stations all featuring Rush Limbaugh and Hannity (often simultaneously) when they can’t even keep one progressive station going? Then it became clear–they can’t! Even acknowledging the conspiratorial actions of many advertisers, all these conservative channels competing for the same minority of listeners simply cannot be profitable.
If I were a far-right Republican who owned many media outlets, and I wanted to make big contributions to the folks who would protect my monopoly, but some silly regulations prevented me from dumping too much direct money into the campaigns, I could run a variety of media stations at a loss (perhaps even burying the red ink into a bigger budget) and make defacto contributions without any regulation.
It’s clear that’s what’s happening. How can any election regulations get at this monopoly? Does Kucinich have an answer?
