Today was stinking hot, so we travelled pole wise – down to the southeast of the state, to dip our toes (all 42 of them [Luna has 22]) into the cool Tasman sea.
It’s supposed to cool off tomorrow.
And now, I should be off to bed, as I have to get up early and write an article on “energy services” for the Aus. Greens national magazine.
And thanks for the compliments on the photo. The whole woods did look like that but a sunny Friday and then the snow yesterday knocked off some of the ice. Lots left, though.
Well, it’s in a sort of questionable area of town (near downtown) but that’s the sort of place they looove being young and sort of urban/hip. So the guy keeps lowering the rent and adding incentives. I get the feeling it’s been available for awhile.
The darkish green kitchen is too much for me, but I sort of like the concept of each room a different color. You may sleep in the blue room. Put that in the yellow room please. It’s like the white house.
We had a lot of brownouts with all the UPS in the house squalling, but it stayed on, Not so the DLS. The loss of connection brought up fleeting thoughts of internet addiction. Nah – surely not.
From all the chatter on the emergency channels, it seemed most of the tree/power line conflicts were in the northern part of the county. In weather like this, I’m grateful to be semi-retired from being out there baby sitting downed lines for hours.
Morning Folks!!!!!! I had a not so restful night and then went back for a nap and just got up again. LOL Sunny and beautiful here. I love the picture and that house SN linked to is beautiful!!!! I agree the green kitchen would get painted. LOL
Morning, All, or going on afternoon for some of you. Sahdow and I are enjoying day two of my luxurious 3-day weekend. Thinking I may try to get out with the new camera sometime today…
I’ve been wanting to ask you: How are you liking that D40? Im debating taking avantage of the President’s day sales to get one of those myself, but wanted to ask someone who already has it.
I absolutely love it, CG, but it has been a learning curve for me since it’s really a step up from my FujiFilm 3800, which is basically a point and shoot.
My husband got me the D40 since he thought I was ready and I guess I am! This picture of Shadow was taken with the D40 and even on my first outing to the farmer’s market in Encino I was blown away by the richness of the color and versatility of shots you can get with the three focus areas.
I’m still getting used to it and should probably go to a class since I really know nothing about photography when it comes right down to it. My husband insists that the D40 is the most popular camera out there and I can see why. However, I am not a professional photographer by any means.
The richness of the colors is what is really tempting me, plus the ability to slap a zoom lens on there. And I loved the colors in your flower photos from the farmers market.
I started looking at the D70 about a year ago, but felt like it was heavier and bulkier than I wuld realistically want to carry around with me…the D40 fixes that problem.
A class would be cool. Or maybe even a trip to the library for a good book on photography?
My husband tells me from his reading that the D40 has alot of the features of the D70 but is lighter and more portable. As for a book, I was thinking something more focused on the technical features of the camera vs. general photography as I am always looking at books. I noticed that the D40 book is always sold out at Borders, so that tells you something!
Morning Andi.

Sweet dreams of grammatically correct, intellectually challenging, knowledge-giving sentences.
Coolest. photo. ever.
I agree…that’s an amazing one, AndiF! Does your whole woods look like that??
Morning/evening all! I’m loving this 4-day weekend stuff and knowing that I have one more day to sleep in tomorrow.
Now if only it were a little warmer out. Oh wait, it is. 29 degrees feels tropical.
We’re supposed to finally get back to normal for around here – 50s and 60s by midweek.
Good morning, CG. 🙂
50s and 60s? Can I come visit? Everything here is so frozen I can walk on top of several inches of snow without falling through.
How are things at Chez Nature? HJ up and ready to roll?
HJ was up to do her business and half-heartedly chase Smooch around, now she’s back to bed with Mr. Nature.
You can come and visit, too!
And thanks for the compliments on the photo. The whole woods did look like that but a sunny Friday and then the snow yesterday knocked off some of the ice. Lots left, though.
It’s 29 in PA? I am jealous — it’s only 8 here.
on seeing that photo was – I want that hanging in my tree. 🙂
Somehow I suspect you aren’t going to be willing to sacrifice your NC weather in order to make that happen.
No -but if I knew an artist who could replicate that in a much larger version I’d make her do it and THEN hang it from my tree.
Hey I didn’t tell you – #1 son and wife are coming to “check out the area”!
Have scouted out all sorts of affordable places for them to live.
(It would be cool to have a glassblower make you an ornament based on that frozen tendril.)
That’s “Have you scouted out …” with a question mark at the end.
Sort of – I found the coolest house for them but it’s available right now and they’re not. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but DAMN! 🙂
When are they thinking they might be moving?
I hope they like the area and decide to move down.
Before summer so they can establish residency and get the orgasmically low tuition for in-state students a year from now.
Ah. So they are highly motivated to move there. 🙂
You could put a little sign on the mailbox that says “Biohazard Disposal, Inc” — I’ll bet that would keep it available until they came down. 🙂
Well, it’s in a sort of questionable area of town (near downtown) but that’s the sort of place they looove being young and sort of urban/hip. So the guy keeps lowering the rent and adding incentives. I get the feeling it’s been available for awhile.
You know if it stays empty for another month, I’ll bet you could work a deal with the guy.
Link
Oh my god. Can I move there? Maybe you just want to rent it while you’re waiting for them to be ready to move?
I wish we could afford it. 🙁 Maybe if both of us were working…
Maybe they’ll see it and be so excited they can’t wait to move…
The Blue Room looks especially cheerful.
I might lose the green in the kitchen and the outside lavender — but then I’m a conservative when it comes to house and room colors.
The kitchen green would definitely have to get toned down a few shades, but I liked the lavender. Reminds me of easter eggs.
Reminds me of the victorian ski towns in Colorado – especially Georgetown and Breckenridge. All of the old houses have a 3 color pastel scheme.
The darkish green kitchen is too much for me, but I sort of like the concept of each room a different color. You may sleep in the blue room. Put that in the yellow room please. It’s like the white house.
I love the colors, especially the yellow. The house looks really inviting.
I love that too, ID. The warmth of the yellow with the wood floors and the natural light coming in.
I just might like different colors for the different colors.
Well, it’s warmed all the way up to 13 degrees and Giddy says that we should go enjoy the balmy weather.
See ya later.
Have fun!
Good morning Andi, CabinGirl, Second Nature! Glad to see your lights are back on, Andi. Nice photo as usual.
Did you lose power or did you townfolks keep your power the whole time?
We had a lot of brownouts with all the UPS in the house squalling, but it stayed on, Not so the DLS. The loss of connection brought up fleeting thoughts of internet addiction. Nah – surely not.
We lose our phone too but we got it back 18 hours before we got the power back.
From all the chatter on the emergency channels, it seemed most of the tree/power line conflicts were in the northern part of the county. In weather like this, I’m grateful to be semi-retired from being out there baby sitting downed lines for hours.
Good morning, Indianadem! Enjoying the long weekend?
After dealing with several angry taxpayers Fri. afternoon, the calm is delicious.
Morning Folks!!!!!! I had a not so restful night and then went back for a nap and just got up again. LOL Sunny and beautiful here. I love the picture and that house SN linked to is beautiful!!!! I agree the green kitchen would get painted. LOL
Here is a design I have redone 10 times in the past 12 hours. LOL I think this is the final version.
