We’re supposed to be up in the high 80’s today – summer is here.
FMom and I are both doing ok. I’m looking out at the lawn and I know I’ve got to get back out there, but today is Sunday, so I’ll slack somemore today and maybe this week. 🙂
Sheesh, our lawn is a mess. It has so many layers of badness I don’t even know where to start. Dog poo, weeds, pine needles, pine cones, sweet gum balls from last fall, dead branches, crabgrass…MAKE IT GO AWAY!
Today, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the European union.
I hope it will mark a new start in the building of the first lasting peaceful union of countries accepting to share sovereignty in the world’s history.
I did, thanks! Of course, it’s never enough pictures… 🙂
We’re all fine. Baseball practice started yesterday for CBtY, and today looks like a nice sunny one for practice this afternoon. CBtE spent yesterday hanging out skateboardng with friends, which was nice too.
How are the dogs? Happy to have you home, I’m sure.
I haven’t stopped for Sunday brunch before (how did I ever manage that???) but wanted to say hi. CG, sorry I’ve not been around as much lately. Lots of things happening offline–all good, but it has really taken up a lot of time.
Anyway….one for the “animals are amazing file”: Since the hubby is on a business trip, I get to take care of our two cats–and one is diabetic. Since I can’t stand needles (the only way I can take shots is by not looking while it’s being administered) I’ve never, in all these years, given the shots. The first time I tried to give him a shot, I heard a “whoosh” should and I started crying, thinking Oh my God, I killed the cat!
Until now. I sucked it up, called our wonderful vet, and asked if I could come in to learn how to administer the shots properly and without dissolving into tears. I can do it now, but I HATE it. My little guy is such a trooper, though. And he comes to groom me, as if to say, AP, I know you hate this, but thank you so much.
We’ve bonded in such a deep way, me and my little guy. His sister is just happy she gets fed. 🙂 Nah, I think she senses a change, too.
Off to get coffee…no one does it better than the hubby, though I guess my own efforts at it are tolerable. I cook, but can’t seem to make a decent French-pressed cup of coffee. Go figure.
Hi AP! Good to see you again. Glad it’s all been good busy stuff! 🙂
I’m sorry your kitty has diabetes, and I can sympathize with you about giving the injections…I had to give an ip injection to a mouse once in lab class. I was horrified (it was phenobarbital and the mouse passed out, as expected, but I thought I’d killed it). It must be even scarier when it’s your cat.
Hope you enjoyed your coffee and the rest of your Sunday! Hi to the hubby!
While the less ascent challenged members of the family went up to the upper tarns, Imogen accompanied me on the forrest walks at Mt. Field National Park.
The park contains mainly temperate rain forrest plants, including these very tall fern trees. Some of which get 12-15 feet tall.
OK. I thought you were in Arizona. I don’t remember any wet forrests in Arizona. I do remember lots of yuccas and sagebrush, and a fair bit of pine at the upper reaches.
Right now the speakers are silent because I just sent the neighbor kid, who was here to play on the computer, back home.
Next, I’ll probably pop in the Gipsy Kings Estrellas albumn that sitting right in front of the amplifier (which means that Imogen had it out to listen to in her car and forgot to put it back in the cabinet).
Your photos are wonderful. You were right. We were in in Sonoran Desert, very dry, except on one day for us. But on that day we got to smell the aroma the creosote bush gives the desert in the rain and see palo verde almost as green as tree ferns. That was worth being afraid of electrocution as I hightailed it off of a peak during a thunderstorm, and Andi followed at a more leisurely pace.
Morning everyone!!!!! Hope everyone has had a great weekend so far.
Good morning Refinish.
Yesterday was pure slack for me and I got to get more than my normal naps in. I can never tell, but I’m hoping today will be the same. 🙂
Hope you’re doing fine.
Ah, my favorite twosome. Morning, guys. 🙂
Good morning SN.
How’re ya doing today?
It’s going to be another gorgeous day, thankfully a little cooler than yesterday.
How’s things with you and Miss FMom?

If I could make it go away I would. Of course first I would have to do my yard. 🙂
Well, you know, it’s much cooler here in CabinLand, so maybbe you’d rather come do my yard work? 🙂
Of course, SN asked first…
Now, where’s the cappuccino?

Long live the European Union!
Evil bastards! Sorry, I was channeling Pat Robertson there for a moment. Happy anniversary to the EU!
Hello Melanchthon.
Congrats and have a great celebration.
Bonne anniversaire!
She says groggily.
Good morning Andi. Glad to see you and Jim made it home safely. Coffee – you need coffee.
another couple hours of sleep.
Well look who comes dragging in here 3 hours late. 🙂
I was hoping it would be more like 5 hours late — we didn’t get home till 1:00 a.m.
Yuck. So I guess the dogs didn’t really care that you got to bed late.
Nope but they were thrilled that we were home (or more precisely they were thrilled that they got to sleep inside on their various preferred places).
Ya’ll got home at a most ungeezerly hour. Ya’ll should slack the day away.
I’ve got to get George outside and start breakfast. See ya’ll later.
I eagerly hand the morning cafes back into your capable hands!!!! LOL and I am sure everyone is sick of seeing the same graphic every morning. LOL
Welcome back!
Sorry your flight got in so late.
How’s the Cabin Gang?
Did you see the pics I put up in the Friday night cafe for you?
I did, thanks! Of course, it’s never enough pictures… 🙂

Sounds like spring has definitely arrived at the cabin.
The dogs were ecstatic. Sniff and Giddy followed us everywhere we went and Hopeful immediately went to his favorite bed and went to sleep.
And you wonder why I loved him so much…
He definitely has a deep understanding of life’s priorities.
Yep. Back to bed is always a good option. 🙂
LOL Hi Folks!!!!! I have been busy doing a podcast this am. LOL
Taking Texas Back episode 2
That makes 8 in less than 24 hours. LOL
Glad to see everyone is doing okay if a little slerpy. LOL
Well all your energy is inspiring me to go snuggle with Sniff on the couch.
LOL Well, I think I have even earned myself a nap later today if I can find time for one.
Hey all.

That is so much like where we were this week! 🙂
What’s on the speakers?

We went yesterday for Imogen’s mother’s birthday (which is really Tuesday).
This is the pool just downstream from Russell Falls.
This tree species, Eucalyptus Regnans, is the world’s tallest flowering plant. This particular tree is a mere 243 feet tall.
