To whom it applies, Happy Passover! And happy Opening Day for all the baseball fans. And enjoy the big showdown tonight between Ohio State and Florida. What else is there to talk about? Well, we have a new exciting front-pager. You could speculate about who that is (and, no, it’s not Armando).
What’s going on? Besides the Yankees dominating, obviously.
Thankyou for the varied happys!
I have spent the better part of the day listening to the different cale news channels and all I gotta say folks is that unless we build support for the blogosphere we are screwed! Ther is not a single honest(forget democratic) outlet on the tele! It makes no difference if you are looking at fox, msnbc or cnn. Pleas tell me that I have missed someone.
I’ve moaned the same point many times. The research shows that people today have so many choices that they just seek out sources that reaffirm their past prejudices.
I should talk! An hour ago, I got into a deep hole by asking another faculty member to please turn off FOX in the Teacher’s Lounge. When he said, “I hate all the others because they are so liberal, I blew. “Who?” “Lou Dobbs?” “Chris Matthews?” “Tucker Carlson?”
Well, now my environmental course is on break. Any suggestions for the rest of the lecture?
sorry but I forgot one critical example. Has there been any network that has commented on the goopers that went to Syria? Just one? Just a passing comment?
They all have been commenting all day re the Pelosi trip But Not One Comment re the gooper folks that met with Assaad. Not One!!!!!!!!!!!
on MSNBC news this morning before I left for assorted erranding…I forget who was reporting to the talking head of the moment. And I’m sure the subject will come up in conversation with Keith and someone, possibly Richard Wolffe…
Well, I suppose I would know if the exciting new front pager was me, so I’m not going to guess myself. It would be nice if it was SusanHu.
Felix Hernandex taxes the mound in just over a half hour at Safeco Field. Here’s hopin’.
Hernandez struck out 12 (I think) and pitched 8 innnings of shutout baseball as the Mariners blanked Oakland 4-0.
I could get used to this.
Royals 6 BoSoxs 1
Must be that 55 million dollar pitcher we have.
You’re welcome. He’d pretty much reached the end of the line in Seattle, so hopefully he can pull Kansas City out of the depths of futility into the stratospheric heights of mediocrity. Besides, I guess we owe you guys a little something for snatching Raul Ibañez back.
well said…but it still not a fair trade..
That remains to be seen, and to find out who ends up on the unfair end. For my part I was happy to get Raul back, I was happy to see Gil go (I liked the guy but it was obvious he was never going to do well in a Mariner uniform), and I really do hope he does good things for the Royals — except, of course, when they’re playing the Mariners. I have several friends who are Royals fans who would like to see them do something to remind them of the George Brett days.
I guess that explains all of the “team spirit” cake and bread items I saw when I ran into the store for some sammich fixin’s. Bread in the shape of a block “O”. The worst is when they do scarlet and gray frosting on cakes.
:p
Bill – CNN did indeed light up the tube with a comment about the GOP trip, about an hour ago. It was only a vague mutter, not to give more credit than necessary.
A new front-pager? This is the sort of information I used to be privy to. I’m so out of the loop these days. I bet it’s that guy who was pimping Lieberman right before the election.
Yeah, ECM rocks. I hope it’s him.
How’s the baby panda?
Vomitous, but otherwise delightful.
Is there a prize if we guess right?
If you guess right, you win free brain surgery!
I missed the first half of the Yankees’ game, but the part I did watch was a treat. They played some small ball (a couple of sacrifice bunts, no less!) to come back, then A-Rod stroked one to finish it off.
Mariano was lookin’ good today. 98 mph in striking out the side. Now, if we can get more consistent starting pitching, it may not be so bad.
Has anyone noticed that Shrub didn’t throw the first pitch today? He’s evidently afraid of being seen in public by ordinary Americans.
The Wash. Post reports that White House spokeswoman Emily Lawrimore “was asked whether the president feared he’d get booed.”
What a wimp Bush is.
all you little one’s bunch up…no pushing and shoving, the exit’s not locked…..yet…
another one goes for a swim…
c’mon in, the water’s fine.
they’ll be chewing off one another’s tails before long.
they chew off a lot more than tails …
The Yankees are not going to make the playoffs this year unless they hire the pitching mercenary Roger Clemens.
