Now that Saddam Hussein is dead, the weapons of mass destruction turned into a few hundred rusting, buried chemical artillery shells leftover from the 1990’s and the flowers strewn at the feet of our soldiers never materialized out of the twisted mind of Dick Cheney onto the bomb-ridden streets of Baghdad, we finally find out from Karl Rove who was really behind the Iraq war:
“It was Bin Ladin, all along.”
(cont.)
Presidential confidant Karl Rove painted a bleak picture Wednesday of what would happen if the United States walked away from the global war on terror.
“We are foolish if we think we can turn away from this threat and draw inward, and they will not come,” President Bush’s chief political strategist told an audience of about 400 at the Mount Union Theater.
“If we lose, they will follow,” he said. […]
In his speech, Rove said the White House “is not about easy things. It is about making big, tough decisions.”
On the global war on terror, he said the country faces “a shadowy enemy that lives within a population that strikes from the dark.”
In a question-and-answer period after his speech, Rove was asked whose idea it was to start a pre-emptive war.“
“I think it was Osama bin Laden’s,” Rove replied.
They will never stop pushing 9/11 as the justification for everything they screw up. Never. At this point its the only talking point they have left, that 9/11 changed everything. That Osama is the some sinister Dr. Evil and George Bush as our Austin Powers with a more serious speech defect, the only man who can stop our world from succumbing to the hordes of Islamofascists poised to overrun our borders with their swarthy faces and their AK-47’s, ready behead anyone who doesn’t drop to their knees and pray to Allah five times each day. Unless …
… unless we stay the course in Iraq, of course.
Karl, keep peddling this line of bullpuckey. Please. In fact, send President Bush and his Sith Overlord Vice President Cheney out to make more speeches and hold more “town hall meetings” where they can parade the tattered spectre of Osama Bin Ladin in front of more Real Americans. Because the more you do, the more your repeated fear-mongering will be revealed, not only as a failed political strategy, but also as a poor imitation of The Great and Powerful OZ. The more people will realize that “You got nothing!”
In the words of another famous American phony tough guy: Bring ’em on!
What can I say? Rove manufacture fake realities at least as often as Hollywood does, so what better way to mock his efforts than with famous movies?
I’ve said for a long time that BushCheney is Osama’s essential partner in achieving his goals. Good to know that Rove agrees.
if it was Osama’s idea, then why doesn’t Bush or any of his minions care that he is still out there? Or “think much about him”, as Bush said in 2003?
Because if they capture or kill him how can he be blamed for every bad thing in the universe? Duh.
;0)
…he was pretty damn smart. He took a page from General “Flypaper” Sanchez’s playbook, lured the U.S. to Iraq the way the Cheyenne and Lakota lured Custer down into Medicine Tail Coulee and turned on the grinder that has turned the place into an A-One shit-hole for both Americans and Iraqis.
…I don’t, of course, think Saddam had anything to do with Nine-Eleven.
so rove now believes that president bush was going along with osama’s plan? maybe rove should resign in protest.
that is, unless he doesn’t mind working for someone who is advancing osama’s plans.
Sorry but what the hell are you talking about– Real American. Get you head out of you know what. He was speaking to “real Americans” or a hand picked group of lemmings Or bobbleheads! Real Americans my ass!
George talked to a group in Ohio — Where the hell is any copy of video or transcript of what the piece of shit said. All I hear is that it was so bad a performance that the wh scrubbed every copy. Some more real americans!
Sure it would be lovely if “real Americans” did get to see or at least read what the piece of garbage said but that ain’t gonna happen. so maybe “bring em on” is not worth shouting- unless there are folks (real americans) listening!

That was a sarcastic reference which is why it was capitalized and a link provided to show what exactly I was mocking about the usage of that term. Sorry if I failed to convey that message sufficiently.
In fact, the audiences are hand picked, but as the question Rove received about “preemptive war” reveals they are less and less willing to accept the administration’s lies. Also, the media coverage of such speeches is helpful to progressives at this point. There’s only so long that you can shovel bullshit on people before even the thickest start to smell the odor.
