In what appears to be a case of sour grapes, Bob Geldof seemingly made a statement criticizing Al Gore for his Live Earth concert in claiming, “they lack a specific goal, according to a Dutch newspaper report Saturday.” Gee, that’s funny, I thought they announced what the goal was even before the concert venues.  Live Earth is the launch of Save Our Selves campaign to fight Global Warming and garner the attention to demand the change needed.

Maybe he didn’t hear about that?  Then he goes on to say,
“But why is (Gore) actually organizing them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody’s known about that problem for years. We are all (expletive) conscious of global warming,” he said.

Really?  Gee, many here just started coming around due to Al Gore’s efforts, just last year…and THIS year.  And Mr. Geldof may also be surprised to know, unlike his own awareness for many years, as he put it, we even have Elected Leaders who haven’t yet warmed up to the idea.  Just Thursday when picking up my hubby for lunch, and a co worker was exiting at the same time, he saw my Al Gore button and exclaimed, “Just give me a few minutes and I’ll show you there is no Global Warming, it’s just water”, and then walked away.  (that’s ok, because I was speechless).
Mr. Geldof then went on to say,
“I would only organize (Live Earth) if I could go on stage and announce concrete environmental measures from the American presidential candidates, Congress or major corporations,” he told the newspaper.”  Really, so he would only have this concert as a celebration, or press release of accomplishments.  Maybe Mr. Gore wants to accomplish something instead of using this as a major PR event.  Maybe we aren’t there to have these great new laws, policy and ideas enacted yet and that is what he is actually trying to accomplish.  After all, as wonderfully aware as Mr. Geldof seems to be about the problem, if he is watching our politics as he seems to allude he is, he would have also seen one of our MSM Front Runner Candidates declare he is THINKING ABOUT CHANGING SOME LIGHTBULBS WITH HIS TWO DAUGHTERS, when asked what personal steps he is making on global warming.  WOOOOO-Hold me back.  With that type of action and ideas to lead us, we may be asking Mr. Geldof to run for President.

But he then states, “It sounds like Live 8,” he told the paper. “We’re getting lots of responses from people who think we are organizing it.”

Is that the problem Mr. Geldof, you aren’t part of this?  Because, according to your goals on your previous concerts, yes GOAL, NOT AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO SAY ‘Hey folks, we have received commitments for money to feed the starving in Ethiopia, so we just want you all to forget about it and celebrate with us’.  It seemed you wanted to accomplish something from your concerts, too.

“Gore could not immediately be reached Saturday for comment on the newspaper report. He was in Rio de Janeiro, where he implored people to attend that city’s Live Earth show.

“An estimated 2 billion people will be watching around the world, but the single largest event anywhere in the world will be here in Rio. I want to invite every person who cares about the environment in Brazil to come to the event here in Rio,” Gore said.

Mr. Geldof, you may well indeed be disappointed you are not part of this event.  Or maybe you are just frustrated that you have been aware of this problem for many years, as some of as……..but surely not as long Al Gore himself, and still not much has been done.  But many (mostly Al Gore)are working to change that, please join the effort, don’t try to kill the messenger.
