Hi everyone. I’m finally back from a long, long day at the hospital. A routine trip to the doctor to get a sonogram (with a close friend) turned into emergency abdominal surgery. All is well, and my friend is recovering nicely, if a bit uncomfortably.
Thank you for all the kind words. I’m sorry for the confusion over whether it was me that was ill, but that was a byproduct of having someone else write an email to Steven dictated over the phone.
I probably won’t be online much on Saturday, either, because my friend is not likely to be discharged until late afternoon.
Once again, thank you for all the kind words. It’s nice to know how much support I have and it was nice to read after a pretty lousy day.
Glad things turned out okay for you and your friend — but try not to worry us like that again, willya?
Sorry for the confusion. I would have actually preferred if it had been me.
Confusion is all my fault. Don’t worry about it.
Get some rest, it’s easy to overdo it when we spend so much time fretting about someone else.
But first:
you know me well, Manny.
Hang in there. Hope all stays as well as it can be.
Good luck to your friend and you get some rest.
sure- blame someone else. Look, excuses excuses. If you needed some time for yourself- just take it. All you achieved was PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha!
Seriously- glad all is well.
love and best wishes to you both.
I second second nature. (Fourth??)
Its good you are able to be there for your friend. Hospitals can be an uncomfortable place in the best of times. Best wishes for a quick recovery.
I spent my Friday the same way when Madame boran’s ambulatory surgery became an all day affair. The surgery went okay, it was her recovery from the anesthesia that was the problem. She was nauseated all day.
Glad you’re okay, BooMan. I hope that your friend is well.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mrs. Boran2 and to Booman’s friend.
Sorry this is after the fact, but for anyone facing surgery its important to tell the knock out Doc that you don’t want the low-bid knock out juice. This isn’t meant as a joke, they will know what you mean when you tell them to upgrade you. The cheap stuff always causes nausea and that’s what is covered by insurance. You’ll probably have to pay about $75 more, but well worth it.
I have a 93 year old friend facing knee surgery but the last time – about 6 years ago – she had such a bad reaction to the anesthesia that an in & out gallbladder surgery turned into 5 days in the hospital. Her doctor is looking into the records from last time trying to find a safe way to proceed. Thankfully, she casually mentioned the earlier situation or she might be going through it again.
I hope that Mrs. Boran & Boo’s friend both recover quickly. Hospitals aren’t any fun..
