Welcome back.
This week we’ll be continuing with our 5×7 painting of the new Gehry building in New York City. It is seen in the photo directly below.
When last we were together, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued working on the painting.
I have urther refined the bands of windows, adjusting the width and spacing. Note that the shadowed window portions appear darker than the lit sections. Also, the lit orange surfaces now have changed shade slightly.
I’ve also carefully reshaped the extreme right upper side of the structure. It now more faithfully reflects the shape of the building. I still need to adjust the extreme right lower side a bit.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That’s about it for now. Please join me next week for our 100th anniversary edition. See you next week.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
what part of town is that building in?
On the west side.
I like it, just the way it is. To me, it’s finished. Modrianish, Daliesque, graphic. I like it.
Which opens up the Artistic question… When is a Painting finished? Do we leave our work not perfect, because only The Universe is perfect?
Just trying to open the conversation flow.
Thanx boran2!
Finished? Interesting, I’ll have to give that some thought.
Seems to me, when something stands on it’s own, the parent’s responsibilities for creation stop. Their responsibilities for development continue, but the progeny are who they are….
How far does the parent alter the original? How far does the parent, he or she, have a right to mold the child in their perspective. Does an artist have a responsibility to “finish a project” to their liking, or does the Art have a right of it’s own to exist….sheesh, I must have a lot of issues..lol
