At the Barber Shop

I went for a haircut today and there on the shelf was National Geographic.  There were two stories featured on the front cover.
One was about the receeding glaciers, the ski areas which are no longer ski areas and then about oceans rising twenty feet.  Yes, doom, gloom and all the Armageddon stuff.  Yet the next cover story was all about the massive boom towns, even boom cities in China.  The entrepeneurial spirit of the “new” China and all the hustle and bustle of new factories sprouting up all over the landscape.

Yes, China is of course exempt from carbon emissions restrictions and has been since 1997.  Plenty of time for globocorp to have set up shop there.  No OSHA, no right to know laws, no union wages, pension plans plus on site barracks for “employee housing”.  It is the coal miners company store all over again.

Now it’s no doubt we use excess energy.  It’s not in question that we could do far better in making it a green planet but reasonable solutions  could never be  advanced much less debated in the vacuous airheadedness that is “mainstream” America today.

Homeboy Security is once again advancing the “terra” theme, something all of the “tin foil hatter” websites said would come to pass about a month ago.  I mean really, sometimes one can say even a broken clock is right twice a day.  In this case I could also debate what is really broken, the clock or the entire US Government.

Alex Jones, looking more and more “logical” day by day.

“Free” trade, “free” for who, CEO assholes, that’s who.

My father left the family farm.  What does that mean.  It means capitalism in it’s unrestricted fury has fucked up the entire world in a single generation.
