Alaska has one at-large congressional seat. It’s currently held by the ethically challenged Don Young. Take a look at this from Roll Call (sub. req.)
Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) has acknowledged taking more than $5,500 in illegal campaign contributions from a seafood trade association since 2001, but he has informed federal officials he will only pay back a portion of those funds because some of the violations fall outside the statute of limitations for campaign finance violations.
Alaska is quickly becoming the GOP’s new Ohio. TPM Muckraker has been all over the travails of Sens. Ted Stevens and Lisa Murkowski. Now we can add Rep. Young to the list. He won’t right he past crimes because that statute of limitations has passed. That’s wonderful.
More Don Young:
hardly comparable, imo…not to dismiss it’s relevance to the hypocrisy and general attitude of the r‘s…..but, comparing the penny ante machinations, misconduct and corruption in alaska to that which has occurred in ohio in the past 6 1/2 years is like comparing a yugo to a mercedes maybach….not even on the same planet.
