Of course, you know who I’m talking about (via All Spin Zone):
Today, Bush held a quick news conference after accepting the Walter Reed Commission report, and ABC newsie Bob Woodruff was in the press gallery. In prepared remarks, Bush recognized Woodruff’s personal journey back from near-fatal injuries that he suffered in Iraq:
I also want to recognize Bob Woodruff here. He is a — he himself was wounded, severely wounded, and went through the system, to a certain extent. And we welcome you back, and we’re glad you’re with us. And we would hope that any wounded soldier, any person in uniform would receive the kind of care and the ability to return to work, just like you have done. And so we’re glad you’re with us, Bob. Congratulations on the will to recover…
[…]
David Greene, the NPR reporter who was at the ceremony, described the project and Bush’s tepid acceptance of the report this morning. And according to Greene, this was Bush’s response in declining Woodruff’s question [about whether the government was moving fast enough to help families] … :
“Just because I recognized you, Bob, doesn’t mean I’m going to answer your questions here.”
In other words: “Thanks for being here as a prop for me, Bob, now shut the fuck up.”
Our so-called liberal media: now just another prop for the Decider to exploit, like the soldiers he’s always has placed behind him when he re-utters his same old talking points about Iraq or Al Qaeda or the War on Terror. Just another stupid prop. And don’t you forget it, Bob.
Yes, there he is in all his glory.
Mr. Common Man. Speaks the language of the people. Brush clearin’, pick-up driving’, bike ridin’, chain saw wieldin’ Mr. Plain Joe.
Just the kind of guy you would like to have a beer with at your backyard barbeque.
And right after you finish that beer you think about it a little. Then you boink him over the head with the bottle.
Because he’s an obstinate, arrogant asshole.
Our President. A Compassionate Conservative. What a special guy!
my favorite comment in quite a long time.
Wow. Just…wow. Of course, it’s to be expected. This is a guy who has a long history of not being able to perceive other people as being as “real” as he is to himself.
He’s also notoriously bad in any situations that aren’t scripted. He either gets taciturn or as he did here, or appears to literally lose the ability to think or respond at all.
Every time he says something so ignorant or disgusting I always wonder how he can possibly top himself….but really he’s become truly awesome in his ability to build on a body of remarks that range from clueless to sickening and disgusting….this he seems to have a true genius for.
Wasn’t it just a few days ago he had a photo op with a vet with no legs and he remarked …’good man, we’re gonna get him some new legs’…
go ahead and say it steven…we can handle it.
you can bet your ass that the ‘system’ mr.woodruff went through once he was back stateside wasn’t the walter reed one that the vets are run thru.
what a pathetic excuse for a human being………..

RSS feeds keep me from putting swear words in the title of a post. Apparently they won’t display posts whose titles include profanity.
is kewl…just funnin’ w/ you…keep up the good work!

I think that may just be certain people’s RSS Feed readers. I use Google Reader and I can read swear words in titles just fine. At least I’ve never missed a Rude Pundit post, so I’m pretty sure that’s so.
🙂
About this incident though, I hope Bob Woodruff does a special segment on how he felt USED like a prop at Bush’s event though. Spend 15 seconds talking about the release of the report and a couple minutes on how Bush snubbed him.
