Air Force Investigation Recommends Command Changes

Minot Air Force Base will have a new commander soon.

At a press conference Top Officials announced Colonel Bruce Emig has been relieved of duty.

(Maj. Gen. Richard Netwon, Assist. Dep. Chief of Staff) “Minot’s Wing Commander and Maintance Group Commander and Barksdale Operations Group Commander recieved administrative action and were relieved of command. The Commander of Air Combat also took four other specific actions to date at the group and squadron level.”

Along with Commanders being relieved Newton said that airman, a number he said as less than a hundred, ranging from Lieutenant Colonels on down, have been reprimanded.

In late August, reported by the Military Times,  a US Air Force B-52 bomber flew from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana with six AGM advanced cruise missiles, each of which was armed with a W-80-1 nuclear warhead.
