There is a new Democratic governor in Kentucky. You can follow all the results as they come in at Swing State Project.
In Philadelphia, the Democratic mayoral candidate, Michael Nutter, is getting about 86% of the vote in the early returns.
Keep an eye on Virginia, where the Dems are trying to take over the senate and are looking good.
Got any election news?
Indianapolis incumbent Mayor Bart Peterson (D) is down 50-46 percent with Republican challenger Greg Ballard leading. Over 84 percent of precincts reporting. It also appears the Marion County City-County Council may give up 6 more seats to gopers before its over. Property taxes have been a huge issue this time around.
The news is better for Dems in Bloomington, Indiana with almost a clean sweep of the mayor’s office and city council. One R somehow managed to slip in.
Complete list of Indiana mayoral results. A lot of cities around the state are going Democrat.
Not any news that anyone will care about: Dems took the two councilman seats in my town, but not the town supervisor (51/49, damn) or the town judge slots.
Yeah, Mrs. Dem laughs at me and my obsession with this stuff. Who really gives a damn what happens in the midwestern flatlands either;-)
That’s flyover country, right? 😉
Yep, on the way to someplace.
Indianapolis has fallen.
Republican party growing by leaps and bounds?

Oh, and the Republicans did very well in my county. WTF?
I’m excited about the Virginia results. Jim Webb in the senate, Kaine elected governor, and now the Va. senate goes Democratic. In the 27th district(my district)Schultz lost to Vogel but only by 50% to 45%. Russ Potts the Republican held the seat for years. Its really red around here. That close of a race is kind of encouraging.
I actually voted in an off year election for the first time. Normally I only vote every two years. I new Kaine and the Dems needed the help. The General Assembly right now is very obstructionist.
That’s fantastic news. Since I’m a born and raised Virginian, I’m quite heartened. Any news about the teacher vs. the wingnut? Last I checked (I’ve been in and out of mtgs all day) they were both at 50%.
What warms my heart is that she (the teacher–and forgive me for forgetting both names) called him “right-wing,” and said he was against a woman’s right to choose and stem cells…in VIRGINIA. Yay!!! I know “right wing” is a compliment in many areas of the Commonwealth, but I’m glad it’s starting to vanish in NoVa.
If you go by square miles Va is red. But your correct NoVa is blueing. It is encouraging to see Schultz come so close here in Frederick County.
Great. In SF, the local paper is complaining about the time involved in counting the vote. Bowen mandated a human count, so we won’t have results for a few weeks. Now everyone will panic because we don’t have immediate results. Fuck, I’d rather wait a couple of weeks for a legitimate count than 5 hours for an illegitimate count.
