Joisey Abolishes the Death Penalty

Progressive governance at work: New Jersey bans the death penalty.

NJ’s Assembly today voted (44-36) to abolish the death penalty. Earlier in the week, the Senate did the same (21-16). Governor Corzine has said he will sign the bill into law in a few days. When that happens NJ will become the first state to legislatively abolish the death penalty since the Supreme Court allowed states to reinstate it in 1976.

This is great news.
