“John Edwards is a loser.” –Lawrence O’Donnell.
I come to bury Edwards, not to praise him;
The evil that men do lives after them,
The good is oft interred with their bones,
So let it be with Edwards…- Dan Balz.

Not for the reasons Lawrence O’Donnell states. He’s not going to stop O’bama anyway. But he is a reminder of the 2004 election loss. His pitiful debate showing against Cheney the war criminal. He was supposed to be the attack dog in 2004. He failed us. Cheney and bush were so vulnerable and nothing. Kerry full out beat bush to a pulp in the campaign. We heard a not a peep out of Edwards. Then only a peep in the debates.
Maybe he is not a loser but he will lose this election for us if nominated. Better he lose in the primaries and get out of the way.
I await your wrath Booman.
I have no wrath. Edwards can probably deny the nomination to Hillary if he wants to. But he has to stay in, and he has to get enough delegates to deny her 50%. And then he has to stick the knife in and kill off the dynasty. If he does it, I will applaud. If he drops out, it might enable Obama to do it without his help. Regardless, he should stay in through South Carolina because he will assure that Obama wins there.
Sounds like a plan.
sounds like a good plan
hate the idea of another clinton in office. lord save us from the neo-liberals. haven’t we suffered enough?
i like edwards and am hoping for the best. if only the US media weren’t so consolidated, he would have a much wider audience
While I certainly agree that the media needs to be broken up like Howard Dean suggested, I think Edwards’ message is reaching a wide audience, it’s just that the audience still remembers Edwards 2004 and Edwards 2008 isn’t coming across as consistent with Edwards 2004. There’s no, “Oh yeah, I remember this from last time and I wish I would have voted for him back then.” They may remember the message, but the one delivering the message was shorter with a different accent…
I do believe that if the media weren’t so slanted toward corporate views he would be the top candidate, but the fact that it is also justifies his run completely.
Edwards can’t win anything. The forces at work want either the Hill or the O man. This way, they believe that they will retain control the presidency. Their core belief is that this country will not vote for a woman or a black. And, ya know what? They are right!
I don’t think that The Man is keeping Edwards down. He’s beating himself.
I was mildly supportive of him until I saw his post-Iowa speech (where he couldn’t be bothered to congratulate Obama on winning and the others on a good race). I contrasted that with what I though was a very classy Clinton speech – a speech that I think helped her come out of Iowa with her head held high.
Then I watched him in the New Hampshire debates and was just disgusted. I’m not sure how he thought that treating Clinton like she was irrelevant and already out of the race was a winning strategy? And then attacking her and sucking up to Obama? Slimy. Disgusting. Opportunistic.
He deserves to beaten and the sooner he’s out, the better.
The loser is Lawrence O’Donnell. I am so tired of his tired uninformed commentary. Going back to the Plame case the idiots kept bringing him on the TV supposedly as an expert. It was all shooting from the hip and little of what he had to say was accurate.
Balz can be buried too for all I care.
Edwards has succeeded in bringing forward the populist themes that we care about. I’ll support him to the end of his trail v. either Obama or Clinton. Yes, any of our candidates beat any of theirs, but it’s a pretty low bar to jump.
Again and again I have to go into the voting booth and hold my nose in order to vote. I don’t know if I’ll have it in me this time to even show up. And that’s sad!
I remember that O’Donnell used to graze on Al Franken’s show on Air America a few years ago. Where does he moo these days?
